This is the post by dragracerz that I was remembering where he states Bryce has tried marijuana. I don't really know how to link it so this link will take you to the whole page, and if you scroll down it should be on there. Sorry.

I'm just amazed that Bryce's uncle was even aware at all that Bryce had experimented with marijuana. Most 19 yr olds try to keep that fact hidden from all adults in their life. So although it's surprising Bryce let on to this at all, it would not be surprising if he downplayed just how much. Some will admit to mom and dad they "tried it once" because they probably figure mom and dad wouldn't believe otherwise. But...few truthfully admit how frequently they might partake or what other drugs they may have tried. For example, my brother will readily admit he has smoked weed before and he doesn't mind my parents knowing. He figures they will be on his case enough about ever trying it that they won't sleuth around and find out he not only tried it, he smokes it almost every day and has also done other drugs. Sad but true. And I'm guessing he isn't alone in this world on this "keep the parents in the dark" theory.

I know Bryce's parents says they are close and I believe them. If they say their son checked in with them often, then he did. But that still doesn't mean he did not withhold things about his life from them. There are 9 kids in my family (yeah, 9!!! Whew!). 4 of us have already went through our teens, 3 are still in their teens. We all love our parents and spend lots of time with them. But the info we have withheld from them over the years could fill an encyclopedia!! Sometimes it was just because we were trying to save our own skins. But other times, it was out of a misguided sense of loyalty for another person involved. And sometimes it was honestly because we felt we had to protect our parents from knowing the truth about the kids they loved or about a harsh world we felt they didn't really comprehend. Either reason could be at work here with Bryce and his friends. It breaks my heart to think Bryce could have been in some kind of trouble and didn't want to tell his parents for fear of hurting them or disappointing them. Or to protect one of his friends. But its very possible. His friends could also be hiding stuff about him, out of a twisted sense of loyalty. I sure hope not. But I have seen it happen before between teens. Teens take friendship loyalty pretty seriously usually. Boys more than girls, I think.

***Bryce did NOT say his GPS showed it was going to take him 3hr 25 min to get to Laguna Niguel from Castaic. He said at 1:50 phone call that the GPS showed he should ARRIVE at home at 3:25am.

***Also: the parent's address was the only address recently in his phone GPS program.

One thing is the "meeting friends" line is pretty clearly in reference to when he got down to Laguna Niguel. No indication that Bryce ever indicated he was going to hang out with friends in Buttonwillow. He told the PD he was going home to hang out with friends & something to that effect to his mom. She said he only had 1 friend there that he met this last summer & apparently was going to contact him once he got home.

Has Dragracerz checked in lately? I can't find any news with Team Amber. I had never heard of this search team until this case although I am familiar with the Amber Dubois and Chelsea King murders. Very sad. That guy who killed them in SD was a monster. At least he plead guilty without having to go through an expensive trial that would cost the taxpayers lots of money!!!!

I think that reading 3:25 wrong could definitely be a possibility like some of you have mentioned.

I wonder how that might feel though, if he was going through some things and feeling the need to blow off some steam. Even 19 year olds who are close to their parents don't always enjoy being treated like children. I'm not saying people were necessarily, but if he had a lot on his mind in the first place, then his friends take his keys, then mom wants to talk to the AAA guy, then she calls the police, has them ping his phone to find him and they search his stuff...it's possible that he might have said he was further away than he was just to try and get her to back off a bit. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to say anything bad about mom, I would do the same things.

Maybe it became one of those "I think we need some space" kind of things which meant something entirely different to each of them.

That's a very good possibility! That would explain how he could say "We broke up" and she (apparently) is saying they didn't.

Wow, that was very enlightening. Created a bit more cohesion in the timeline. Also listened to Dragracerz interview.

This makes me feel more melancholy... hearing their voices and Karen's (ugh *teary now*) voice breaking. :'(

No doubt, great interview! I'm not sure if I'm more confused or less confused, but lots of good info. The timing still makes zero sense unless there was some major road construction that slowed him down, or bad traffic. Or as has been mentioned, maybe the GPS was either messed up or confusing.

I'm confused why they'd search the vehicle, if all they were doing was making sure he was ok. I've never been pulled over, but isn't it kind of unusual to have your car searched unless there are additional circumstances/suspicions? I'm not bad-mouthing Bryce, I'm just trying to understand.

I applaud the news station for airing his story. They sound pretty dedicated. I hope they stay on top of it.

Does anyone else find it strange that Charlie, the one and only friend in Laguna Niguel (that we know of) did not know Bryce was coming to hang out with him and "blow off some steam"? Seems he would have AT LEAST texted Charlie and said something like "Hey man, I'm going to be in town", right? Unless Charlie is a bum there would be a chance he would have had plans.

Secondly, I can't understand why Mom thinks Bryce lied about breaking up with his gf but that the gf is that telling the truth about them not breaking up? What the...??? I know we all speculated he tried but wasn't taken seriously because he was acting weird but if that's the case Mom doesn't say so.

Im confused. I thought he attended that college all of last year. That is what someone replied to my post ab seeing his gf had graduated from Sierra.

He did attend Sierra last year but he was in a dorm so maybe not fully "on his own" - this was his 1st apartment

I don't know why people keep thinking that something significant happened in Buttonwillow. His mom sent the road side assistance guy back to check on him several hours later and he was still in the same spot, sleeping. Plus he was in Castaic..not only was his scent picked up but also he was on surveillance @ Castaic 1 minute or so after he talked to his mom and told her he was exiting the freeway to sleep.

Why wouldnt he just stop and get gas...why let it run all the way out...everyone knows there is nothing but gas stations,food and hotel/motels off of every exit on the interstate.

And as for thinking something happened in Buttonwillow, it's because he was there so long. It's just a rest stop. Why linger? Most people rest, get gas, get a snack and go. BL stayed almost all day 9am (if not earlier) until at least 11pm.

As for being in Castaic, he was never ID'ed on the video, only his car although yes he did make the call to mom. And lastly his scent in Castaic could have been from anything. Someone could have had his backpack or his sweatshirt or other item (stolen) or the dog could have made a mistake. We just don't know 100% for sure it was him. He was last seen in person, alive in Buttonwillow on Lagoon Dr. by CHP but I believe (JMO) that he did make it to Castaic but not alone...

BBM He said this before he even left Rocklin/Chico so it wasn't that he used it as a story to change his original plan...

Lastly, the nearest gas station off I5 before the Buttonwillow rest area is about 25 miles so it's easy to miscalculate and run out before the truck stop especially if he had a gas card and had to find a particular brand?

he was not actually up for 4 days tho...not by my calculations anyway...not to be rude but i have stated multiple things on this forum to no avail...if ppl are new or just not reading..they should scroll back in my opinion so someone doesnt feel like a point was missed or completely ignored

He was up all day/night on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and most of Thursday although we assume he was asleep in Buttonwillow. That's almost 4 days...
