How do we know this, though? I don't know who was with him on Monday and Tuesday night (all night), but no one with him from 11:30 PM on Wednesday until 9:00 on Thursday when he called for gas. Since the trip from Chico to Buttonwillow is only 349 miles, and would only take 5 hours and 10 minutes, he could have been sleeping for 4 hours. Since he was unaccounted for for 8 or 9 hours in Buttonwillow, he could have been sleeping then, too. It's quite a stretch to say he hadn't slept in 4 days when there was no one with him for the 4 days to say if he did or didn't.
To me this is just a theory that some have that he was up for 4 days straight. Others believe he was in Buttonwillow for so long because he was sleeping (thus not believing he was up for 4 days straight.) At this point no one knows for certain WHAT he was doing during those 4 days leading up to the car crash in Castaic.
