I am SO hopeful this second (right?) sighting in Tehachapi will pan out!!! The young lady seems very sure. I just hope Bryce doesn't have a doppelganger. :p

One reason why I feel hopeful is that the first Tehachapi tip was left anonymously. That doesn't make sense to me unless they could potentially know it really IS Bryce. And Bryce knows them, and they don't want him to know they are the one that called.

At least, that's the only thing I can think of. Anyone have any other ideas on why someone would call in a sighting but refuse to give a name or address?

ETA: Well, I guess they could have been someone in trouble with the law or that has a warrant out for their arrest. :p That could be a reason for why they wanted anonymity. But I'm holding out hope for the other reason. :please:

Someone may choose to leave a tip anonymously simply because they don't want to look stupid if it was not him. Also, like you stated, maybe they have had trouble with the law and don't want to be "involved", but still want to do the right thing by reporting a possible sighting. :moo:

Yes, two possible sightings in Tehachapi is way more encouraging than a vision. I hope valuable resources are used in sightings as opposed to visions.
It is possible that he could be staying with someone, in the apartment complex and this person called in the tip and did not give a name or location because they did not want to appear to be "ratting" Bryce out.

ok, did Bryce have a job? his own money? or did he rely on his parents for money? Unless he had a lot stashed how could he be hiding out this long? or have help??

Another clue lies in the wear pattern on their shoes. Hey...I have to keep some secrets. The secret society of Trackers would disown me.... :)

If you do bone density scanning or very fine motor strength testing, you will generally find people have more strength and slightly more developed muscle tissue on their dominant side as well... :)

Hoping Bryce is found, I've been reading, haven't contributed, already wrapped up in a couple of other cases but really hoping this is a situation where he will be found safe and soon.

On the FindBryceLaspisa Facebook site, they've posted a picture of Bryce without a smile.

I was just wondering how he'd look when he wasn't smiling, since many people aren't, when you come across someone who is out and about. Good idea!

Okay, so Bryce told his mom that he was hanging out with friends in Buttonwillow, right? Since it doesn't seem that he knows anyone in Buttonwillow, I was quick to write this off as a "cover story" for sleeping or something else.

However, let's ASSUME that Bryce was telling the truth, and he had a friend group that not many people knew about in Buttonwillow. If this mysterious group of people is helping him, then this could explain how he had the resources to get out of Castaic and hide out somewhere (such as Tehachapi) without many people seeing him.

I wonder how much BL knew about/followed the LLomax case
while it was going on in Sacramento, not far from Sierra College?

I wonder if Kim talked much to BL about the LLomax case?

If I am correct in my understanding. He was telling his mom that he was going to hang out with friends, when he got home, not that he was hanging out with friends in Buttonwillow.

Just for reference,
Mulberry apts. are located on 444 W. E. st in Tehachapi.
K Mart is located on 710 W. Techachapi Blvd.
The distance between these two places is 0.3 miles.
If there is any credibility to the sightings, my guess would be the Mulberry Apt. complex might be the one to look into.
There is also a Tehachapi Senior I & II that is another possibility, located at 554 W. E st. real close.

@ dragracerz: Are/have you/family been getting much assistance/advice/help from experienced search groups?

I know contact was made with KlaasKids and a flyer was made; and, Amber group helped search a couple of days; but, I'm sensing that neither is very involved in this case - if true ... why not???

I'm fearing these possible stronger parallels to LLomax case approach. :(

Came upon a Tehachapi Alerts page on Facebook, and was glad to see it already included information on Bryce.

However, I was a little crestfallen to see one of the commenters saying someone with the same profile as BL recently came back to town, implying that the sighting might be this other person instead. Still, let's keep up the hope!

WOW, this looks so very, very promising! And it is interesting to note that 3 loads of laundry were stolen from a laundromat there as well... The gal who posted the sighting says she is 99.99% certain it is him, and she has left a message at the parents' house, I believe. Here is what she wrote:
I am so sorry. I don't know why I didn't see the notifications for this. I called this afternoon and left a message. They didnt return my call. I am 99.999% sure it was him. I spoke with his girlfriend this afternoon.
:please: It seems so promising!

I agree. I don't think he was out shopping at Kmart if he was hiding out. They have cameras that can be reviewed. In cases like this you get a bunch of idiots that call up with made up sightings. For one thing if he was hiding out and did go out in public would think he would dye his hair like many teens do or wear a cap and sunglasses.

I seriously don't think he would be that mean to his parents as to not have one of these friends call his parents anonymously to say he is ok and stop all the searches.

I think it's time they search that darn lake and area again with some real experts. Bryce is from Illinois and I don't think they are aware how many serial killers, gang murders, take place here in CA. Bryce could have pissed someone off and the person hurt him. Could have been a killer or gang hiding out at that lake and just wanted to hurt someone just for the pleasure. Look at that poor Dodger fan killed after the game a few days ago.

I really think Bryce would have sent a signal to his parents by now. It's been 30 days!!!! :(

Assuming Bryce's vehicle was seen on some type of surveillance camera at the lake, apparently 3 times- does that mean it also saw the vehicle leaving 2 times, and not departing the third time? Is this camera located in a point to view coming AND going?

Did this camera notate any other vehicle(s) in the same time period?

Assuming Bryce was in the vehicle and was coherent after the accident- would he have attempted to retrace his route back out on foot? To seek help in a populated area??
(but that begs the question, why not Call for assistance??)

Would he <foot traffic> have been captured on this particular camera?

Are there other cameras in the vicinity of the lake area?

This is what bothers me.
First Bryce had the conversation with his mother that he was breaking up with his girlfriend, he was at her house. She said she wanted to fly there, he told her not to.
Then his mother thinks he is driving to his place. Did he go there and then start his journey? Have we heard what time he started his journey to the parents home? What if he left his place on Thurs morning and ran out of gas in Buttonwillow. Mom had no idea he was coming home, Was he really? Mom gets call that Bryce had called for gas, she now knows he is not where she thinks he is supposed to be. She has his phone pinged, after reporting him missing. LE finds him., he's fine, Bryce tells LE hes just going home to hang out with a friend and blow off steam, I bet he was steaming at this point, mom is tracking him down. Fri morrn vehicle is found down embankment, no Bryce.
If it wasn't for the fact that all of this occurred before his vehicle being found I would be more concerned, but because of what has occurred it just makes me think that Bryce planned this and does not want to be found.
I don't know if Bryce would do this to his parents because I don't know Bryce. But something definitely was going on his life.

If this was planned, why choose Tehachapi of all places to relocate??? Why not somewhere else? I do think something is going on with him mentally and that he is not in his normal right state of mind. Could've been a head injury from the accident.

Apparently, it was only 2 times his vehicle appeared on surveillance cameras. The same camera. It only shows plates of vehicles coming in, not going out. They also captured the plate of a fisherman. They apparently talked to him, he's not involved.

As far as not calling for assistance, after the accident, and in the dark, he might not have been able to locate his cell phone as the car had slide, then tumbled onto it's side.

The camera only caught vehicles, not foot traffic. FWIW

This is what I think, too. Why? I don't know, but all actions previous to the vehicle being found on the Main Ramp on its side keeps telling me this. His actions that 24 hours + were an indication to me that things weren't right. He was taking way too long to drive the 8 hours it should have taken him to get from Chico to Laguna Niguel. He leaves approximately 11:30 pm Wednesday night and his vehicle was found crashed on Friday at approximately 4:30 am. That's 29 hours to make an 8 hour drive. What was he doing??? Why was it taking him so long? What was in Buttonwillow that he spent so many hours there???

Go find a wide open area. Sight in on a large landmark as a center line. Close both eyes and walk for twenty paces. Open your eyes. Which way off the center line did you veer?

Yes there are exceptions. I was born left handed and was trained to be right handed as we live in a world created for right handed people. I still circle to the left. "Your results may vary". Now that form of "retraining" was popular in the 50's. Since then parents mostly let their kids be what ever they were born as. So I always ask what is the dominant hand and if they were retrained as a child. That with a few other questions give me a good start on how to search for a particular individual.

So for the purposes of SAR, you can "assume" that 98% of the time, a left handed person will circle to the left and take the left trail. A left handed persons left stride is 98% of the time shorter and their right stride longer.

Another clue lies in the wear pattern on their shoes. Hey...I have to keep some secrets. The secret society of Trackers would disown me.... :)

I find all of this fascinating! I am right handed. Write, crochet etc all right handed. My mom is left handed. Some things I do I use my left hand, cutting fabric, stirring cake mix etc. I always thought it was because I watched mom do it left handed. But I also learned crochet from mom and use my right hand for that.

I am left eye dominant and left leg dominant though. When I walk I always start off with left foot etc. therefore bowling right handed, but left legged just doesn't work for me. And I can't aim a gun very well either. Believe me I have tried both many many times and it just isn't going to happen. I gave up on bowling...but Lord help anyone who tries to break into my home. You never know what I might hit while aiming the gun
