I don't think specific information about the location of the shattered glass was released. The initial reports and even comments by dragracerz made it sound like it was broken from the inside of the car, presumably by an emergency tool. If it was broken the other way (with glass falling inside the car), I don't think they wouldn't have theorized that he used an emergency tool to get out of the vehicle. As you mentioned, it's pretty easy for even a layperson to tell which direction the window was broken.

Still no news about the dna in the car? I hope we will know soon. I will be very surprised if it doesn't belong to Bryce.

I wish we knew the conversation with the roommate the night that seemed to set all of this off. It's hard to imagine that he wouldn't have been questioned by LE. Is he holding back? "You saved my soul" has some significance and Bryce's actions seem to be based on a decision made after discussing his struggles (whatever they were) with his roomie. I feel like this kid is the key to this....so frustrating!!

I just wish they could get TES to come out and do one last search of the lake and surrounding area. I just don't feel good about moving up the coast until TES can say with certainty he's nowhere around Castaic Lake. They have so much better equipment for this type of search. I just keep having this nagging feeling he's in that darn lake or around there because of the dogs picking up his scent ending at the lakes edge. I just can't seem to shake the feeling. I pray I'm wrong but just want to be sure. I have so much faith in the skill of TES. I don't trust the word of LASD. Its ridiculous there is still no DNA results on hair blood or fibers in the truck in a month.

IIRC, dragracerz said TES was denied working on this case...something to do with the department working on the case? I'm going back to look...

ETA: Here's his quote from Thread #1 about TES not being able to help:

Yes, I just spoke with them and because of the detective in charge they will not help. I cannot say anymore about it.
We had a great phone conversation and they would like to help but can't

Yes. TES was denied at the initial stages of the investigation, but since then they have new detectives on the case and they have scaled back searching, so maybe they could come now....IDK.

That was then what about NOW since the search was called off with LE? Seems now they could bring in whoever they choose. I know they have excellent tracking dogs. I would be interested in their dogs scent results. I know when I go to the Drs and get a diagnosis of something somewhat serious I get a second opinion from a specialist.

Bryce might look like after 3 weeks. Longer hair & facial hair.

Not sure if you did this pic or someone else, but he would have a lot more facial hair by now if he hasn't shaven. There is a pic on his FB sitting in a car with his gf with more facial hair than is shown here. Maybe 1-2 weeks worth?

I didn't even think about that :blushing: Very true! Maybe they could get them in now. Hopefully the family gives it a try. Their equipment would be of a great help here.

I think all of us have suggested this to the family many times and are fully aware we want them here and for whatever reason they are not coming which I find bizarre as I have never heard of Tim Miller denying a case. He states this on his TES videos.

Could it be TES spoke to LE regarding their findings and if LE believes he is in hiding through their investigation, interviews with friends, roomate and family therefore TES would not come if missing on ones own accord?

We are now on thread #4. I think we've discussed every possibility we can think of...no matter how remote. For those of you who have been following this from the beginning, I'm interested in how you feel about things right now....just a quick poll. What is your gut telling you?:

A) He's alive and well and intentionally hiding out (with or without help from someone)
B) He's alive and wandering/lost with amnesia or some other TBI or mental illness that's preventing him from knowing who he is
C) He's no longer with us (whether foul play or suicide)

Still has not changed, have thought this from the beginning.

If the tattoo is covered, you can't see it. I think a lot depends on if the description of the tank top undershirt was a shirt under another one or not. It is common to wear a flannel over another shirt.

The problem is that if he is alive and wandering, he could be anywhere at this point. There is a lot more kindness amongst strangers than a lot of people realize, especially if it looks like a relatively clean cut person who appears lost or temporarily down on his luck. I wouldn't rule anything out until it could be proven without a doubt that it was NOT Bryce if I were his family.

The man stated that, after seeing the missing poster, he was sure it was Bryce. He never stated whether or not he saw the tattoo. But it was dark out and people faced with something unexpected don't usually notice everything about a person that one thinks they would. There have been multiple tests done. On eyewitnesses and observation that prove that. So I don't agree that failure to recall a tattoo means anything, if that's the case.

What struck me about the Oregon sighting is that the man didn't have a possible sighting predisposed to see Bryce. He didn't know Bryce was missing until after the sighting.

Also, it occurred very close to another possible sighting in Portland, iirc.

And, the description matches what Bryce was wearing.

Finally, it's an odd coIncidence. A young, Red haired man just happens to be on foot in a remote campsite, in the dark, at 5:30 am, asking for directions, at a place not far from a truck stop, close to a major highway and in the general area that would take him to a highway going to Illinois? What are the odds?

In terms of the poll, I vote "C - He's no longer with us." There just isn't enough evidence to persuade me that he left the area of the crash alive. I'd also like to add that C doesn't necessarily mean foul play or suicide. He could have walked off and passed away as a result of injuries from the crash, or he could have been disoriented and ended up in the lake.

As for the sightings, I know that a low pct of the population has red hair, so this naturally makes me more inclined to believe the sightings of Bryce. However, I also wonder if the red hair makes a "red herring" more likely. It's such a distinctive feature that I think a lot of people notice red hair before facial features. I don't think that all red-heads look the same, but I do think that people may be quick to leap to the conclusion that they saw Bryce just by seeing a man with red hair (since red hair is so rare). Also, they are probably more inclined to remember the hair color more than distinguishing facial features.

I continue to change by thoughts on this on a daily basis. One second, I think he's alive and well and hiding out, but I really don't think he would put everyone though all of this :/. I'm thinking at this point, C, that he is no longer with us. I really hate to think this, but its what my gut is telling me..

Unfortunately, "C," and I sincerely hope I'm wrong.

I have always struggled with the limitations/black&white of multiple choice questions so here’s my answer:

D) I fear he is no longer with us BUT am having more optimism that he may be alive with the theory that he was pissed/fed up/whatever, cut ties and bolted toward ???. However, the longer this goes on with no confirmed sign of a live BL, the stronger my initial fear that he is dead becomes. I’m having near constant flash backs to the same sort of conflicted reactions I had while following the LLomax case. Search went on for nearly 3 months and she was dead the whole time – prolonged pain for everyone. :(

I have my doubts as to whether this kid (or most/many) college kids have the resources to disappear themselves and stay "on the run" or live "rough" for weeks on end. But that could be due to my perception of many in this age group growing up fairly pampered and cared for and used to relying on parents for every little thing.

Not saying it is impossible...and if he WAS injured and/or affected by drugs, who knows what a person will do. But I feel like going on four weeks is too long for him be to wandering, living off the land, so to speak.

I would think if he were injured enough from the crash to have spilled blood in or on the vehicle, there would be a trail of blood drops or other signs that he had left the vehicle badly hurt. None seem to have been found, at least that we are aware of.

My vote is A, until further info comes in that disputes that theory.
