BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - The Butte County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly dog mauling in the Feather Falls area.
The sheriff’s office said on Thursday, around 2 a.m., a resident contacted them and reported that he found a body on Blackhawk Trail in the Feather Falls area.
Deputies responded and located a body, which was later identified as Davina Corbin, 56, of Feather Falls.
On Thursday, a forensic pathologist performed an autopsy on Corbin and during the autopsy, the forensic pathologist said they located numerous bite marks and injuries on Corbin’s body. Based on the evidence located during the autopsy, the forensic pathologist believed Corbin’s cause of death was attributed to a domestic dog attack.
During the investigation, detectives obtained a search warrant for a home on Blackhawk Trail. The home was located directly in front of the area where Corbin was located, according to the sheriff’s office.
During the service of the search warrant, detectives said they located about 25 Great Dane dogs. Butte County Animal Control responded and deputies and detectives spent the entire day capturing the dogs, who were running loose in the area.
