CHULA VISTA, Calif. - Chula Vista police are searching for a missing 16-year-old girl.

Cassandra Garcia was last seen at her home in Chula Vista Sunday morning, according to police.

It is believed that she may be headed to Los Angeles to visit a male friend.

The 16-year-old made contact with her family Sunday evening and said she was at a Los Angeles area bus stop.

Garcia was last seen wearing a white dress, leopard print belt, brown shoes. She has brown hair and she normally wears it in a braid.

I'm hoping the "male friend" isn't significantly older than her.

Relatives told police that Garcia, who has some health issues, may have headed north to visit a teenage boy.

She called home about 5 p.m. claiming to be at Los Angeles bus stop, police said.
