Sorry for the bad formatting I'm on my cellphone. There is a chance the Lost Film Crew T-Shirt is not his, but I can't shake it.

The shirt must look like this: LOST Film Crew T-shirt Season 2 (LOST logo and numbers) - lostified.com - LOST Show Autographs & Memorabilia

I wonder if the colors give any hint about the job the person did.

That's really interesting... Even if he got the shirt from a thrift store or something, it's still worth checking it out.

Also, I wonder how accurate the weight is. If he was really 113 pounds at 5'10" then he'd be pretty significantly underweight.

i'm thinking it would be worth a try to go through the whole cast list and check who did projects after 2010... but it will be a lot of work.

i don't think he got it from a thrift store, they seem like very popular memorabilia...

okay, i'm really starting to think he might from hawaii. the "tribal" tattoo on his shoulder, the tshirt, the fact he endes up in L.A. ... since LOST ended in 2010, his family and friends might think he simply moved to L.A. for a new job opportunity.

He just might be one of the zillions of people listed here Lost (TV Series 2004–2010) - Full Cast & Crew - IMDb

I didn't see anyone with MOY initials but I doubt those were his initials. I wish we could see the tattoo to try and figure out the significance of these letters.

Checked the link and there is a LOT to look at. So far I've only looked at the dates for 2005-2006, I didn't look at the ones listed by single date (2005/2006) or the uncredited ones but I've already found 2 people who have 'no record' after 2006. I know the decedent was found in 2010 but I'm just going by the shirt. Anyways, the names were
Bill Hannah (alternative name William H. Hannah) and John Rodrigues. Then again, they were either back stage or very small bit players so I guess it's not too surprising right?
Bill Hannah - IMDb
John Rodrigues - IMDb

There's too much to look through right now, but I'll try to post an update later.

I’m going to try to create an algorithm to get the names from the site of crew members/ search social media for records of them for potential matches. Am I allowed to post names of potential people who could be the unidentified man for people to investigate further?

The algorithm is a great idea! But unfortunately, no, posting names of those not known to be missing isn't allowed.

In update: I got all of the names from the Lost Crew, sorted that list based on criteria (male name, working 2004/2005/2006 seasons), and searched NAMUS for any matches, but sadly I was unable to find any. If anybody wants to do more research for this case I can share my sorted file of the cast. Any suggestions on where to search other than NAMUS are welcome!

I think it would be best to post in the Hawaii Crew Groups on FB. If there aren't any on Lost, there might be Hawaii O5. The crews overlap a lot. What sucks is, that we have no picture or helpful details.

So I might have found a way to go to the IMBD page for each of the crew members and download the year of their most recent show so I can narrow my list to people who haven’t worked on anything since 2010. I looked for Facebook groups of crew members of the show with no luck. I was going to look up the names of my short list (20-50 people hopefully) in the Census, but I realized I can’t. Any sources of public databases with names are helpful! So far I have a few key people who I can find no online trace of after 2010, but I don’t know if that could be in part due to their name being spelt incorrectly or a lack of online presence.

So, I found this NAMUS Missing Person Profile (The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)) and realized while unlikely, there is a chance that this missing person could be the unidentified (age range, location, height, race, and date of last contact could line up, and other than weight and hair color being a bit off, there is nothing I could find to rule him out), so I contacted the person involved with that case. In terms of the IMBD list, I am down to 50 people, with 5-10 so far that are the most probable (no internet record/ year making sense). I scraped the social media profiles of multiple people in the same areas of the crew as the "most probable" names, and I might cold contact those people for help.

Wow, you've done an incredible amount of work on this! It really does seem like it should be solvable.

The NAMUS profile certainly seems plausible!

I hope that it's solveable! My worry is, however, that the unidentified might have been homeless and have gotten the shirt from thrifting, charity, or a friend. I noticed that he was found wearing sandals, and if he died in Jan/Feb of that year when the weather in the area was generally 60ish degrees, the sandals could indicate him being homeless. I hope that the crew theory is correct though -- because if so, I think I'll be able to narrow my list down to 10ish people and then likely pass that info along to whoever is in charge of his identification.

P.S. If anybody knows of any other unidentified or missing persons cases where web scraping the internet and social media or handling any large amounts of data could be useful, please let me know! I have a lot of web scraping and data cleaning/comparing codes developed and it is easy for me to alter them slightly for a new use case.

Apologies on never updating about my efforts with this case: I got the cast list down to 10 names, but I am stuck there. It seems it is possible that upwards of 3-4 of the names could just be misspelled and that is why I can't find info.

Update: In my google searches, I found out that Hawaii has this site Hawaii.gov which can be used to search people's unclaimed properties. I put my list of final names into it, and I did find a match. It is a name that is not entirely unique but not super common. The person worked in film from 1999-2009 and I can't find any other records of someone with that name in Hawaii since. I'm not sure what to do with this info, however.

Did you search for the person any place else? Any trace of them living in California? Feel free to send me the info and I can search Ancestry and a few other places.
