KNSD actually has a still up. Their images usually won't post but I'll try.

Missing+couple+surveillance+cars.JPG

It’s not yet clear the type of cars shown in the video, which was turned over to investigators by the manager at Hidden Valley Pump. Valley Center Road is the main thoroughfare just north of the casino.

Coming out of lurkdom to agree somewhat..... While I never thought the son and he did/does seem sincere....the vandalism story makes me see him in a different light. It puts me on the fence, when I hadn't even been considering him at all.

I DEFINITELY see him and his wife in a different light after seeing that vandalism video.
Now, that being said, it just shows who he and his wife are as people. It's a shame.
Their personality might not have anything to do with his missing parents, though.
IMOO.

From KGTV (10 News):

https://twitter.com/10NewsCreighton/status/598643135921541120

I didn't see their broadcast but I'll record it when it starts again. I'm guessing that's based on seeing the video of the cars somehow?

That's strange. Why change his tune? If it was because of seeing those other cars, well, if his parents haven't been found, how does he now know not to suspect foul play? Foul play could have occurred after the video...
IMOO.

I'm so confused. How's this related to a missing teen in San Diego? I must have missed something.
It's just crazy that this case has ties to TWO other very publicized cases!

We don't often see cases with ties to any other widely publicized case, and in this one we have TWO!

Oddly, another SoCal story with ties to San Diego and a missing person (a teen) just released the suspect's name and HE was in the middle (as a child victim in that case) of ANOTHER major SoCal news story and case! That just also came out last night!

Ok, I don't know what the deal is with lack of audio so I'll see if the second one has it (does audio not work in Flickr? I've never put videos up on there?)

But at about 1:20 you can see the cars pausing and hesitating before moving forward and then seeming to turn (which to me obviously seemed to be a different direction than what Omari saw actually being there and seeing presumably more of the footage since the still from the camera on the KNSD link I just put above definitely shows a different angle and a wider view than what aired in the clip on TV)

I'm sure he is correct and it's just how I was seeing it not getting the whole perspective he has from getting more video!

Again, the part where you can see the cars is at about 1:20 and then once again after that.

I'll see if the volume on the other one actually works.

This is the one from 5 pm with Monica Dean and Mark ___ (forgot his name) anchoring and Omari Fleming at the scene.

In the one from 4 pm the cars aren't circled, etc. so it's a little clearer I think.

No clue

I guess maybe knowing they were leaving the casino area ok, etc. he might think it's less likely to have foul play while driving unless they stopped and picked someone up? :dunno:

I turned on 10 / KGTV right at 5:30 but it must have aired before that...so we'll see if it repeats again at 6 with what he actually DID tell them...

Hey Thanks for all that you are doing at WS, reporting back about the news! :) And for all of your google maps, too. :)

I'm so confused. How's this related to a missing teen in San Diego? I must have missed something.

Sorry I wasn't clear enough.

It's not.

This case has TWO other widely publicized connections (Robert's vandalism/LE thing and Dianna's sister, Sylvia)

And at the same time, last night, in a SEPARATE SD missing person's case (the missing teen) it came out THAT case is also linked to someone involved in another high profile / widely publicized case.

Considering most of our missing person cases on WS don't have ties to any other such widely publicized incidents (or even smaller incidents), it's just unusual that in 24 hours, the two MP cases in San Diego that are getting a lot of media attention BOTH ended up having ties to other widely publicized incidents - and in this case, not only one incident, but TWO widely covered incidents!

Here's the video from the 4 pm KNSD broadcast - the cars are seen much closer to the beginning.

Still no audio for some reason but you can see a little better since the cars aren't circled in this one.

What the heck?!

So I'm watching (and DVRing) KGTV/10 trying to see the story.

Now they teased it airing at 7 and Steve Atkins says:

"A big clue emerged in the search today for a missing couple. We're talking about surveillance images from the Valley View Casino. Why the couple's son says he's worried after what he saw in those images."

This is the earlier tweet from the same station

Search for missing couple takes a turn. Son tells me he no longer suspects foul play #10news pic.twitter.com/RVFnJS5wBk

What would he have seen that made him NOT think foul play, but now is more worried based on the casino (specifically) images?

This may explain both:

The family, however, is still looking, and the new surveillance video is keeping them hopeful.

Robert Acosta, who lives in the Coachella Valley, said the family had been searching businesses and buildings for other sources of surveillance footage when they found the new video. He said the cars in the footage were traveling too fast to see their license plates, but he believes one belonged to his parents.

“It was a pretty big deal for us,” Acosta said. “At least we know what direction to look.”

BUT:
The casino security footage raised one new concern for the family. After taking a closer look at the video, Acosta noticed his dad was having trouble catching his breath. He worries that a medical condition might have caused his parents to get into a car crash.

“My mind starts to wander and I really need to stop doing that but I can’t help it,” he said.

Also - if anyone wants to search before the rain gets really bad later in the day and into Friday morning, especially:

Acosta said family members, friends and search and rescue volunteers from the Team Amber Rescue searched the area of Valley Center Road past Harrah's Resort Southern California on the Rincon Reservation Wednesday and will continue looking Thursday morning.

He invited any volunteers willing to lend a hand to meet them at the Ridgeview Church on North Lake Wohlford Road about 7 a.m
.

Also, they are apparently getting some tips in:

A San Diego sheriff's lieutenant said Wednesday that several tips about the couple’s location have come in, and helicopter crews checked them out, but none proved valid. Acosta was grateful for the time law enforcement spent looking for his parents.

“They’ve dedicated a lot of flight time to us,” he said. “I can’t thank everyone enough.”

KGTV 10 News at 7 pm

VERY clear footage of the white cars turning right - east - onto Valley Center Road. [So if that's Paul and Dianna in any of them, they went the completely opposite direction of the 15/Deer Springs Rd ping reported as Paul's phone's last ping]

Said it MIGHT be their car.

Robert concerned b/c dad had to stop a few times to take breaths in the Valley View Casino footage and could see his chest and stomach pumping in and out. He's concerned it was medical.

They're going to be focusing on brush, etc. now that they've seen this video.

They said foul play is NOT expected (maybe that's really LE saying that not the son :dunno: Kimberly Hunt didn't specify just that "they said foul play is NOT expected.")

Then they also covered Robert's past with the vandalism thing.

Sheesh - and RIGHT in front of the Valley Center SDSO office - literally RIGHT by Valley View today - searchers were out (I think it was Team Amber shirts on them) talking to KGTV's reporter on camera and a car crash happened and things went flying. Whatever they were intending to film with them seems to have gotten sidetracked with the crash happening.

(I tell you for non-locals that area really is crazy and prone to strange and/or bad crashes!)

I wonder if the son's neighbors have video cameras?

I suspect given that both news stations that I DVR'd (and I saw KNSD multiple hours) all made sure to include a specific mention of Robert's past (and on KGTV I think it may have actually gotten more time - though their coverage was NOTHING compared to KNSD's so it was all brief) I'm sure LE is revisting things to make sure his story checks out.

I'd guess they have (or now will) check out his story with others that were at the house (or supposed to be) and I'd not be shocked if his cell pings get checked now also.

The fact that they're covering this heavily seems to mean someone almost certainly raised it with LE in case they hadn't immediately connected the dots, b/c it almost feels like media is having to give a "disclaimer" every time they cover the story.

It reminds me a bit of how during the Baltimore stuff the other week, if you ever saw Sunny-something as one of their legal people on CNN talking pretty much the top of every hour, they introduced her a some variation of "Sunny-something, legal analyst, who is also friends with Baltimore mayor, Stephanie R-B" almost as if the entire thing was Sunny's name because they said it all every time!

In this case we're now getting a variation of, Robert Acosta, son of the missing couple, who you might recognize from the vandalism scandal involving a former SDPD officer disclaimer.
