Christie Donehue was last seen by her son on Thursday, November 29th at her home in the 2200 block of Eucalyptus in Escondido. She presumably left around 230pm to go to a 330pm appointment near El Camino Real and Vista Way in Oceanside. She left her cell phone at home, which family says is very out of character for her.

Christie was driving a silver 2007 Chrysler Town & Country van (similar to photo shown), license plate # 5YCL59. The van has bumper stickers “Honk all you want, I’m deaf” and “I love my pitbull”.

Still Gone- Missing Persons Cases

ESCONDIDO, CALIF -- An Escondido woman has gone missing and her family is desperately trying to find her.

The Donehue family tells FOX 5 their mother Christie went missing on Thursday, Nov. 29. Her son Michael said she was going to see a doctor in Oceanside but never returned.

The family has been posting "missing" flyers around town in hopes that someone might be able to reunite them with their loved one. "I'm worried that I am going to get that call," Michael said. "I'm worried that she is not going to come home on her own accord."

Michael said his mother left all of her belongings at home except her car key. He hopes they will find a lead soon.

"I love her and I miss her. And if it's something that she feels embarrassed about, we will welcome her back with open arms," Michael said.

The family described Donehue, 43, as 5'9" with brown eyes and dark blue hair with some purple coloring. She was last seen driving her Chrysler Town & Country minivan, with license plate 5YCL159.

Questions for the family, in case they happen to read this:

Do you know what sort of doctor’s appointment she was going to?
Did she arrive there? Can you call the doctor's office to ask?
Any chance the doctor sent her straight to a hospital? Any chance she got some sort of bad news?

Was Christie in a relationship? Any strain? Any bad relationships from the past?
The news link mentions that they will be checking for whether she crossed the border? Does she travel to Mexico frequently?

That van's transmission can be problematic. Without a cell, calling for assistance would require someone random stopping to help, or her getting to a phone/ borrowing one. I wonder if she was going on a quick errand then coming home and getting ready to go to her appt ?

Reading the Help Find Christie FB page someone commented on a bumper sticker on her van and asked if she has a good sense of humor or if she actually has hearing loss.

The reply was that she is completely deaf in one ear and mostly deaf in the other, and that she can hear some if you're on her good side, but that otherwise she is a proficient lip reader but also uses ASL.

And she does NOT use a device on her phone that helps her (for amplified sound, etc.) so reads like she likely mostly uses her phone to text.

Also, unfortunately we're getting a lot of rain (for us) here, so hopefully she's somewhere indoors where it's warm because it's quite cool and very soggy here now.

The route she almost certainly took to get from Escondido to Oceanside (briefly on the 15 to 78 freeway, or else surface streets up to 78) is very heavily traveled and had something happened en route it'd almost certainly have been seen.

Random comment: This is the exact restaurant where Chelsea King and Amber Dubois's killer (John Gardner) was arrested. Weird! I am not trying to draw any connection, but that poor restaurant keeps getting associated with tragedy! (It's the only restaurant by a few miles in any direction.)

No, I don't think so. They mean that a van with license plates that match hers was found in this dirt parking lot. In other words, it is likely her van. the news media may not have a statement from police yet, but their reporters can see the van's license plate number and draw conclusions. Inside the van, there was a body. Presumably that is her, pending confirmation by the medical examiner. The family has been notified and are putting out their own statement (ahead of police), stating that she has been found deceased.

I wonder how LE are so sure there’s no foul play involved. She wasn’t very old. How do they know without an autopsy she wasn't strangled or something? It said they stopped investigating. Her children thought the situation very strange.

Weird article... it clearly states that the medical examiner has ruled that the death was a suicide. So I think the headline is wrong...
