A late submission to this thread! I wonder if Ms. Gregg could be the Carson Jane Doe. The UID was found in 1978, two years after the disappearance of Ms. Gregg. Since MP was last seen after giving birth, is it possible she ran away, uninterested in motherhood at such a young age or was possibly taken against her will? Either way, this could account for the 2 year gap between her disappearance and the discovery of the Doe. The Does postmortem reconstruction strongly resembles her and was said to have likely given birth which aligns with Ms. Gregg's distinctive physical features and context of her disappearance. The MP was reported missing a roughly 7 hour drive from the UID which is a reasonable distance to travel in the time frame, especially if Ms. Gregg hitchhiked. I've attached an image of Ms. Gregg (left) and the Doe (Right) for comparison. Thank you for giving these women a moment of your time!!

Could this young woman from the Alcala series possibly be Christine? In one of the images there is a mark on the woman's thigh.

It looks like this Unidentified woman possibly had a c-section scar?

"She had a 3 1/4-inch vertical scar on her abdomen above her belly button and light stretch marks, indicating she possibly had a child. "

Thanks for the response!! It wasn't stated under Ms. Gregg's case what type of birth she had and so my thought process was that maybe she had a C-Section. If you know of any evidence that proves or disproves this- feel free to let me know!

She graduated from Gilroy High School, yes? What brought her to Sacramento, I wonder?

I would go ahead and submit the match, and see if they have more information about the birth. If Christine's family knows, or her medical records are available, then it could help rule her out.

I personally think light stretch marks are really common. A lot of people have them just from growth spurts and weight fluctuations, but the scar might be related to a c-section.

Registered nurse here. It's not impossible that the unidentified woman may have given birth, but this doesn't describe a c-section scar. A c-section scar is well below the navel in the lower pelvic area. It typically runs in elongated "c" shape from hip bone to hip bone. I would really like to know if Christine gave birth at home or if she left the hospital the same day she gave birth. She wouldn't get far on foot after a c-section. Either way she could have bled to death somewhere and never been found or her body hidden. The lack of detail in this case is frustrating.

Wow!! I wouldn’t have know that! Thanks so much for your input- that’s a really good point. The lack of information definitely is frustrating. I’m planning on searching for more information soon- will update if I find anything.

Is this the case for older c-sections?

I have a low-transverse incision, like the one you mentioned. You can barely tell I had surgery. One of my sisters had a classical incision. (see image found randomly via Special Scars, Special Secrets)

Agree the timeline of "last seen after giving birth" really should be explained a bit better. Some people are incredibly resilient, especially when young, but......

If the scar was "above the belly button" then it couldn't be a C-section scar, but some other kind of abdominal operation, see:

That is not necessarily true with a classical incision. The cut can be above the belly button.

I agree we do not know if the scar on the UID was related to childbirth or not.

From looking around a little, it does seem transverse incisions were more common by the 1970s, but again, I have a sister who gave birth in the 2000s who had a classical incision. So, I think it is certainly possible this scar was a c-section although maybe not especially likely. I think the faint stretchmarks could be from just about anything.

Thanks so much for the input everyone! I'm admittedly not knowledgable on scars and signs of childbirth so I really appreciate all of the information you've all shared. Over the next few days I'm going to try to find more information about the UID's scarring and stretch marks and signs of childbirth during the time period to try and either eliminate or submit Ms. Gregg as a match or search for other potential matches that fit the description better.

This match is highly unlikely - that UID was Hispanic/Latino and had uniquely overlapping front teeth not seen in the MP, who was a white European (the reconstruction you were using is also outdated): https://me.lacounty.gov/unidentified-person-detail/?caseNumber=1978-05116

Los Angeles County is willing to entertain all sorts of wacky comparisons though, so I’m sure if you submitted it to the LAPD Identity Unit they would go through the proper channels to make an official exclusion and enter it into NamUs (and they’re usually very fast at it too). This is one of their few older cases that has a DNA profile available, so I’m sure cross-referencing the two would be fairly easy for them.

Really good points, thanks for looking into it. I'm fairly new to all of this so the feedback is really helpful. I'm gonna refrain from submitting Ms. Gregg for now unless more evidence comes to light. I really appreciate everyone putting in time to these cases. I'll update if I either find crazy new evidence that makes this match compelling or find another potential match!!
