Christopher Aleksiewicz

Chris is a native of Maine; there are records that he resided in Ellsworth and Amherst. He moved to Eureka CA a few years before he vanished. In September 2003, he set out to hitchhike back to Maine. The last sighting of him was at the ramp to the Indianola Cutoff to Highway 101, between Eureka and Arcata.
In both 2006 and 2007, one of his femurs was found in Coopers Gulch. Followup searches to the discoveries found no further remains. In August 2012, a search party of about 15 volunteers with cadaver dogs searched Cooper Gulch for further bones, with no result. This search was in conjunction with a search for Jon Walker Poschman; one of his femurs had also been found in Cooper Gulch.
While the search party had no luck, there was heavy vegetation that masked areas indicated by the dogs as possibly containing human remains. The searchers said those areas would be worth checking further, if they could be cleared.
