So it doesn’t mention the festival but it could have been someone who went to the Coachella Music Festival. It ended on Sunday the 24th. Maybe someone who had too good a time and got left behind? If he was wearing a wristband they might be able to ID from that. I’ve been to Coachella twice and you have create an account and register with all your information. It doesn’t mention a wristband either though. Just an idea. Also the clothing is definitely something worn to the fest.

Interestingly the article says he was wearing "blue jeans, a black belt, black gym shorts and black shoes and socks" so I'm not sure what he was actually wearing. It also says "his pants, shoes and socks were caked with dirt, as if he had been working in the fields."

oh. I saw "multicolored pants". I guess that changed.

What he was wearing seems to be reported differently each time

On the Riverside County Sheriff's Department website it says "Multicolored pants, black belt, Black socks, and multicolored shoes"

On NamUs it says "Clothing- Multicolored pants and black belt, Footwear- Black"

In an article from 2017 it says "blue jeans, a black belt, black gym shorts and black shoes and socks"

There's an artist named Yelawolf who has played at Coachella. I'd never heard of him but he's got an interesting sound. Hip hop/country/classic rock.

He looks Hispanic in the drawing. Combined with pants caked with dirt "as if we were working in the fields", I wonder if he's a migrant worker.

I thought of the festival too but per Google, in 2016 the festival was in April while the JD was found in July. I've attached the poster that confirms the April dates.

LOL You are right. I was half asleep most of the day yesterday. I stayed up too late Friday celebrating. I was thinking April and July are the same. No more looking while not completely coherent.

The other interesting thing in the article from 2017 is
"Medics rushed the man toward a nearby hospital, but he died before he arrived – killed by a toxic combo of methamphetamine, alcohol and desert heat. Doctors clocked his body temperature at 107."

Those might be good leads if one of them matches the uid In appearance or description

Just thinking out loud here but could the tattoo actually be YOLO as in You Only Live Once? That was a pretty popular mantra for people in the the early 2010s and would in my opinion line up with the kind of tattoo that someone who would attend the Coachella festival would have.

The tattoo looks like it has at least one more letter than Yela, also the L looks like it might be a cursive F, I at least think I can see a thin loop in the "L".

I mixed around with the contrast and color to make it slightly more visible.

Are there any Spanish speakers here that can make out a possible word or name?

Could it be Yeta? Meaning bad luck / jinx?
(I don't speak any Spanish please correct me if I'm wrong xD)

Well, I clearly commented without looking at the actual picture of the tattoo. It does indeed look like Yela.

It does look like the L has a bar, but that would make it a cursive T, not F. Lower case cursive F goes below the line.

I'm seeing different results on Google about the word "yeta" (bad luck/jinx). Seems to not be used in all south American Spanish speaking countries, i'm unsure since there aren't many websites explaining it and seems to be a bit colloquial? If it is only used in some of the Spanish speaking countries it could narrow down the places he might have roots in.
