Cody was one of three teen boys in a stolen car being chased from Willow Creek to Hoopa on Route 96 at 1 AM on 9 January 2011. The car flipped several times. Two of the boys in it were found safe. However, Cody plunged into the 43 degree Trinity River to escape LE. His shoe was found 6 miles downstream on the riverbank after an exhaustive search.

His family held a “Cody’s Day” tribute to Cody several months after he disappeared. He sounded like a neat kid, despite his last action.

Cody was one of three boys in a stolen car being chased northward on Route 96 by both LE and the indignant car's owner. The stolen car crashed, flipping several times. Deputies found the other two boys. A ground search using tracker dogs was supplemented by boats, helicopters, and an airplane. Cody's footprints led onto a bridge over the Trinity River, where he apparently leaped into the raging waters to avoid capture. One of his shoes was found 6 miles downstream.

The Trinity runs into the Klamath. In September 2011, Cody's jawbone was found at the mouth of the Klamath. It was identified as his in 2013. RIP Cody.

This one is definitely solved

Remains of Cody Conoboy who went missing January 8th, 2011 have been found and identified. The 15 year old boy had a Facebook page dedicated to finding out what happened. The cover photo shows many sports trophies and pictures of him wrestling. Friends at an event celebrating his life described him as energetic, athletic, and a wisecracker who could “cheer up a brick.”

How on earth does a 15 year old kid end up on felony probation? Did they mean his father and they used his DNA? Or it was actually Cody, no wonder he jumped into the river!

Meanwhile, Conoboy had been on felony probation, said Athey. His DNA was being processed and added to the database as is now the policy for anyone with a felony. A saliva test is taken and the DNA results are added to the Dept of Justice database.
