Oprah was talking about sexual abuse of boys in 1989, and everyone watched Oprah. The Menendez murderers, who were adults at the time of the murders, could have phoned up Oprah with the story about the Hollywood executive with RCA records who was allegedly a pedophile ... no one would have doubted them.
Again, they were afraid of the reprucussions that would happen, a hollywood executive with RCA records? How far do you think his power would reach? what would have happened to them if they exposed him? Ok, so they were adults, but they were very young adults who still lived at home with their abuser. Once they snapped and had enough. that was it. I was a victim of SA and it came to light as a young adult. I still lived at home with my abuser. I drove my car at full speed and smashed the front end of his truck..after I reported him. Until you have been in those situations, you cant begin to comprehend the victims mindset.

For me, this is the question:

Can adults blame childhood experience for criminal behaviour?

According to the Menendez murderers, well after the murders and the arrests, they claim that they experienced childhood abuse, and the murders were nothing more than putting their parents out of their misery before they killed their children (the Menendez brothers).

Fifteen shotgun blasts, with the last bullet killing them in each case. Their father was shot 4 times before the fatal bullet was shot point blank at the back of his head. HIs mother was shot 9 times before the fatal bullet entered her cheek.

Was it anger, was it a reaction to an imagined event, were they putting their mother out of her misery, or did they just want the money?
I honestly believe it was anger and had nothing to do with the money. When you have experienced years upon years of abuse at the hands of the very person who is supposed to protect you and love you, it definitely affects your mental capacity. If you don't have the proper support system and tools to help you through that traumatic experience, there is honestly no telling what you will do. They were young adults. It's a proven scientific fact that there brain was still maturing. Add to that the trauma that can create all kinds of mental disorders and illnesses. I do believe they definetly should be punished, but not for the rest of their lives..

Having been on a media tour of late over weighing newer evidence of the repeated sexual abuse the brothers allegedly suffered from their father, music executive Jose Menendez, Gascón is expected to ask for Erik, 55, and Lyle, 56 to get out of prison in the next few months, sources tell me. However, Gascón could still back away from that plan in the next few hours due to sharp divisions in his office, individuals close to events caution of the fickle prosecutor.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Prosecutors will recommend Erik and Lyle Menendez be resentenced for the 1989 killings of their parents in the family’s Beverly Hills home, providing the brothers with a chance at freedom after 34 years behind bars.

An official with knowledge of the decision who was not authorized to speak on the record ahead of a planned press conference confirmed that Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón will would recommend resentencing for the brothers.

Hes asking for resentencing. He will recommend that to the court tomorrow.

Sounds like
50 to life, elligible for parole immediately due to their age

Gascon said he's going to recommend to the court that they resentence to remove the life without parole sentence and resentence for murder which would be 50 years to life with parole, and because of their age at the time of the crime they would be eligible for parole immediately.
