How nice of the State of California to reward criminals with free tuition and books for them to obtain their college degrees.

If it's any consolation, their degrees are useless anyway.

I mean ,you said it.
Degrees are useless.
Why they here for?
People pay a lot of money for them. For opportunity. Chasing dragons maybe?

You must've missed the part where it said that all got sociology degrees.

The 54-year-old was hospitalized after being diagnosed with kidney stones, Geragos said: " I just think he should be parole furloughed, I think is the proper term, and he could be medically furloughed in advance of the hearing so that he can work with the parole attorney and get up to speed and be ready ...."
Rbm.
Haven't heard that term before ?
Just my .02.
Kidney stones are painful from what I've heard, but not uncommon and not necessarily a serious medical condition if treated promptly; which it sounds like Erik is ?

One of my relatives passed from pancreatic cancer.
That was a long, painful and serious medical condition.

However painful kidney stones, I'm certain being shot many times and bleeding out is infinitely more painful.
Omo.

Yes, kidney stones can be extremely painful, but are easily treated with surgery. It's not a permanent condition- either they pass naturally or are broken up or removed. It doesn't merit freeing him from prison for kidney stones.

Thanks for this video link, @Seattle1 .
At about 53:35 and forward, what Matt says is very compelling and I totally agree.

He says that if they're released it could open the floodgates for the LWOP prisoners to now be able to appeal and possibly eventually be released because they, too were abused as kids.
He called them 'the worst of the worst' --many of them sex offenders.

What about the many thousands if not hundreds of thousands who have been abused, but never committed a crime ?
It's not an excuse for vile acts against another innocent person.

Jose was never given the chance to defend himself, we don't know if he was guilty, and there's also the age of these men when the murders were committed by them -- 18 and 21.
Old enough to leave home and take their dad to court.
Imo.

Eta : I liked his (Matt Murphy's) term : "Recreational Outrage".... i.e., something we are angry about but are far removed from the situation and maybe without proof of a crime (what the two brothers have accused their dad of) happening.

From the above link :
56:35 Lyle was caught on a hot mic bragging about how he lied in the first trial.

While kidney stones can be very painful, I don't think Geragos is qualified to assess Erik's medical condition or suggest his terms for recovery! JMO

Kidney stones are very painful, but very rarely fatal. I'm sure he's not the first prisoner who has had them and been successfully treated while incarcerated.

I think Geragos got the message:

7/23/25

Geragos previously told NewsNation’s “Banfield” on Monday that Menendez was dealing with a medical issue ahead of the brothers’ parole board hearing next month but did not go into specifics.

“I don’t want to reveal too much,” he said. “I will just tell you he’s a tough guy, and he’s getting attention for it, and he’ll work his way through it. I’ll just leave it at that. He’s on the mend.”

Geragos made it sound like he'd had a life-threatening medical issue, like a heart attack, a stroke, something putting him in grave, immecdiate danger. I chastise myself for ever believing anything Geragos says. He's the king of hyperbole. I've known about him since Wynonna Ryder (should have taken a plea, but Showboat), Michael Jackson (awful victim blaming) and of course, Scott Peterson (boat in the parking lot). His daughter being on Diddy's defense team while he was on TMZ's podcast about the case says so much about him and why some defense attorneys get a bad name.
