Geragos made it sound like he'd had a life-threatening medical issue, like a heart attack, a stroke, something putting him in grave, immecdiate danger. I chastise myself for ever believing anything Geragos says. He's the king of hyperbole. I've known about him since Wynonna Ryder (should have taken a plea, but Showboat), Michael Jackson (awful victim blaming) and of course, Scott Peterson (boat in the parking lot). His daughter being on Diddy's defense team while he was on TMZ's podcast about the case says so much about him and why some defense attorneys get a bad name.

MOO
Agreed, and he's one who gives defense attorneys a bad name. He was a talking media head professing Scott's guilt, shortly before he signed on as his attorney.

How is EM able to have a daughter- I guess I will have to look that info up. Good grief.

Edit: Someone named Tammi married EM. Tammi already had two children from a previous relationship. One of these children prefers to reference EM as their father rather than step-father. Again. Good grief.

Yea! Because although painful, Kidney stones aren't fatal. He deserves to serve out the rest of his sentence no matter how long that may be.

FREE the BOYS

Which "boys"? They were both adults when they committed the crimes and are middle aged adults now.

The hearings will take place remotely on Thursday and Friday. Their attorney Mark Geragos said "first day will be Erik, second day will be Lyle."

He described what else can be expected over the two days.

"There will be different parole board members each day. There will be different lawyers from the D.A.'s office each day, as well, is my understanding," Geragos said. "And you're going to have a different proceeding. Each brother, if you will, stands or falls on their own."

The board could decide whether they will walk free after more than three decades in prison for the murders of their parents.

If parole is denied, the person can ask the Board to review the case for errors of fact and to see if corrected, would that lead to a different outcome.

If parole is granted, the parole board's chief counsel will take up to 120 days following the hearing to review the decision for legal or factual errors.

If the parole approval is upheld, the case is sent to .Gov. Gavin Newsom. Newsom will then have 30 days to either grant the parole, reverse the decision or modify it.

If granted parole, they'd be eligible for release immediately after the decision is finalized, which takes about five months, according to the CDCR.

"Newsom can also exercise his clemency power to pardon or release the Menendez brothers at any time," the DA's office said.

Erik and Lyle Menendez are taking another step on what could be their path to freedom.

The brothers, who have served more than three decades in prison for the 1989 murders of their parents, will appear before California parole officials Thursday and Friday in a bid to convince the panel that they are suitable for release.

A Los Angeles judge found three months ago that the men do not pose an “unreasonable risk” and resentenced them to 50 years to life — a decision that effectively canceled their previous prison terms of life without the possibility of parole and made them eligible for "suitability" hearings immediately...

Watching an interview w/ the LA District Atty Hochman on CNN about this. He lays out a pretty good case for them not getting parole. He said one of the conditions for parole is that convicts are honest about the crimes they committed. He says there's a long list of lies the Menendez brothers have been telling now and over the years since the murders. Among those lies are things like: accusing their father of sexually molesting another person; that they bought the guns a day before the murders because they feared for their lives; etc. There was a list of more than a dozen lies the brothers are still telling.

Parole hearing is scheduled to begin in a few minutes. Whatever recommendation the parole board makes, Gov. Newsome makes the final decision. Based on what I'm hearing from the LA District Atty, I doubt he'll approve if the parole board recommends parole. I doubt they will, but who knows.

Another commissioner then asked why he decided to also kill his mother. Evidence at the trial showed she had crawled on the floor, wounded, before the brothers reloaded the shotguns they had bought with someone else's ID and fired a final shot.
Meanwhile, Lyle, now 57, is set to go before the California Board of Parole Hearings on Friday.
They brought up prison reports of fights and other violations dating back to 1997, including drug and alcohol use, instances in which he was found with a contraband cell phone and even allegations that he helped a prison gang in a tax fraud scheme in 2013, the LA Times reports.

The behavior behind bars of both brothers doesn't indicate they'd be "model citizens", if released either !

Maybe continue their current activities, however with much more freedom to 'wheel and deal' and that is frightening.

It's easy to believe they're not truly repentant.
Omo.

Good! This is an excellent sign that Lyle won't be released either. They aren't repentant in the least!
