January 11, 2024 - Mariposa County Sheriff's Office officials report that Crystal Blackburn, a missing female adult from the Mariposa area was last seen in the area of Mt. Bullion walking away from her residence on December 29th, 2023, at approximately 7:00 P.M. (1900 hours).

Officials describe Blackburn as a white female adult with red hair, and blue eyes, weighing approximately 160 lbs, and is 5 feet 3 inches tall.

She was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, blue jeans, and black boots. Crystal’s whereabouts are unknown and there is an active missing persons case.

Mariposa County Court Records don't have any activity in the last 4 years, Most are traffic, however there are a couple of misdemeanor criminal charges for being under the influence of a controlled substance a long while back and 2 separate case numbers for failure to appear. I'm thinking that
(1) she could either be using again (not my first choice, as she's had no arrest for drug use in a while and those that resulted in charges were when she was fairly young, a time many of us do unwise things on the path to responsible adulthood).
(2) disappearance for reason unknown (most likely)
(3) failure to appear for charges in another county (as I only checked the county where her residence was).

Law enforcement officials are continuing to track down information about a Mariposa County woman who went missing on Dec. 29 of last year.

“We are chasing down leads,” said Mariposa County Sheriff Jeremy Briese during an interview on Monday of this week. “Our investigating unit is running the case.”

The sheriff did confirm that investigators have obtained search warrants in the case, but he also said nobody has heard from her since she went missing.

Reports indicated she walked away from her home on that day and has never returned or contacted anyone, as far as they know. Last month, the sheriff said they were attempting to track down cell phone information and using all other means to track any communications.
