I may have missed it but has there been any mention of the time her companion claims to have left her to go and get more alcohol?

Along that vein, do we know if the store has confirmed the male companion returned for more alcohol?

I thought her roommate talked to her at 9pm. Where did you see she was seen at a trail at 9pm?
It was from the following news article and states "McCarthy was reported missing on the morning of Dec. 14. The handbills state she was last seen at about 9 p.m. Dec. 13 on the Napa River Trail between Lincoln Avenue and Trancas Street, at the tail end of a heavy two-day rainstorm that dumped about 4 inches and more on much of the Napa Valley." I am not sure exactly what they mean by this though or who they are referring to that saw her around 9pm on the trail itself. Did she go home after this? How was she seen on the trail around 9pm but also talked to the roommate around 9pm? She did live very close to the trail though so maybe it was just reported off but it would seem rather important to know if she was actually seen on the trail and by who. If that was her original "last spotting" before the 7-11 footage came to light then did she talk to her roommate, leave her phone and someone saw her on the trail? If so, that would mean she was gone from home around 9pm until her demise but being seen at the 7-11 around 10:30pm and would suggest she was doing something for an hour and a half in between. OR could suggest she was on the trail on the way home around 9pm, talked to the roommate and then left closer to the time she was at the 7-11 OR that she left the home around 9pm was seen on the trail, came back home and left again so that would be important to know if she was seen on the actual trail. At this point though I am leaning towards poor original reporting.
Search effort for Crystal McCarthy carried out Wednesday along Napa River

3. The picture in the video shows her laughing as she is opening the door. Common behavior on weekend nights at any gas station next to or around bars or clubs. People laughing or smiling and talking with a friend or whatever as they walk in. The point being, she was feeling good about herself.
Are you referring to a different photo of her or this one? I guess I am just not seeing how her opening the door shows her to be laughing? To me it simply looks like she is just walking inside, possibly talking if anything but I do not sense any sort of particular mood or feeling in this photo. MOO.

LE seems awfully convinced she's in the water. I'm wondering if they've talked to the homeless man and he told them what happened.

If she was drinking, it is entirely possible she got drunk and fell in.

If the homeless man went back to 7-11 a second time without her to get alcohol shouldn’t the 7-11 have that on tape?
If his story is true?
Who paid for his alcohol the first time? Him or her? Did he have money to pay for alcohol either time?
If he was on video a second time what time was it and did he have her wallet?
I assume the police have done this checking. valid concerns

This is an excellent point. If he went back to the 7-11 for more alcohol, there should be tape of him doing so.

For those of you that have read the news more closely than I have, have they said whether or not there is video of him returning?

Yes, she could have had to go to the bathroom and slipped and fell. Issue I have is that from what I've read, LE didn't do a very good job searching that water, until they do we are going to question homeless people/ friends etc because nothing has been ruled out. IMO

LE always knows more than they tell us. It is exactly why in the Gabby Petito case, they kept searching for Brian Laundrie in the reserve, even as others were claiming he was in hundreds of other places. If LE is continuously searching the water, there is a reason, even if we don't know it.

I agree. I'm wondering if maybe her boots were found sunk in mud very close to the water. It had rained a lot prior to this night and the mud on the riverbank could have been very soft and deep.

On the afternoon of 12/23/2021, Napa Sheriff’s Deputy James Baumgardner was patrolling the Napa River on a sheriff’s boat to continue the search for missing Napa resident Crystal McCarthy. Deputy Baumgardner came across a woman’s body in the river, near the Third Street Bridge, next to downtown Napa. The body appears to be Crystal McCarthy, but a positive identification will not be confirmed until autopsy.

Very sad outcome. I'm glad they did a better search of the water though at least to give her loved ones some answers. Prayers for Crystal and her family and friends.

Welcome @Sfishell , sorry its under these circumstances. I agree, we will have to probably wait for the autopsy to determine COD first I'm sure. IMO

I know you guys know. Why would a positive ID not be made until after the autopsy? Thanks.

Many prayers for the family and friends.

Could be that the condition of her body is such that having family do it would be unadvisable so they’ll go by dental records or similar?
