Oh No!!! This is devastating to read. He must have been out partying for New Years eve. It was raining, bad storm and wind that night.

Trying to piece this together from the info above. He abandons his car and clothes in Port Chicago for some reason, and is seen running on the freeway around 4 am (or someone fitting his description according to witness). Then his phone pings at a Chevron on Willow Pass Rd about 6am (but he is not seen there by anyone, or no report of him being seen there as it says last seen at 4 am)

Why did he leave his car running/clothes and go to the highway, it was pouring out. Did he then get picked up and taken to the Chevron, or did just his phone go to the Chevron? We need more details. Where had he been that night. Where exactly was the car in Port Chicago (that is a freeway I think, Port Chicago Freeway). What did the workers at chevron see around 6 am, video cameras of cars coming and going.

It is the 7th, this isn't good. My prayers for him, he looks like such a nice, young man. Oh, his poor family.

This one says he was dry!
California has had some of the biggest storms it has seen in years. It was just raining in the Bay today and not enough sun to dry clothes fully in my opinion. And a random tip lead them there?

“"We received a phone call from a lady who said she had some information about the location of where his body was," said Kevin Hope. “
“"We had walked and searched the area days prior to where the body was actually found today, and that’s why we don’t think the body was there because we actually walked it ourselves," said Hope. “

“Concord police had also spent days scouring the area, using drones, K9s, and ATVs. “
“Family members say Damond did not appear dirty, despite the area getting hit by several storms this past week. "Especially considering the weather being the way it is, it is very suspicious and weird he would be right there and dry and everything," another cousin, Catherine Moore added.”

He looks like a nice kid. The Rugrats hoodie hurts my heart! Sunday at 4 AM is NYE night, so more people were likely up and driving around at 4 AM than normal. Also unfortunately a much higher likelihood he was intoxicated/using substances - I wonder where he left from.

Car was found on an overpass on Port Chicago Highway in Concord, CA. One overpass is near some water on a golf course, but another overpass shows a Caltrain passing by on Google Maps. Could he a) be nearby but not located yet, b) have gotten into a car with someone on the highway or elsewhere after abandoning his car, or c) gotten on public transit and be in a different Bay Area city?
I am worried he got into someone's car after abandoning his. How far is the overpass from Willow Pass rd. I know they are not too far, could he have walked to the gas station on Willow Pass from his car? Why did he suddenly abandon his car on the overpass, still running?

OK, I am so frustrated this case isn't getting more attention. Here is an article, I hope ok mods, it is CBS news, so I assumed ok. Please delete if not. A few more details here.

*His car had a flat tire.
*He was found not far from car, where family searched already and is convinced he was not there then.
*His clothes are clean and dry despite the storms, they believe as LE that he was dumped there

So, he was seen on the highway in distress. It was pouring rain, flat tire. His phone then pings at the chevron at the Willow Pass exit, close to the car, probably the next exit, at 6 am. This is two hours after he is last see which is 4 am. What I don't understand is if the 4am is the highway sighting, or sometime before that. Because to be seen at 4, then on highway, phone ping at 6 Chevron, then disappear. Did someone pick him up, to help him get to a service station? Was he at Chevron, or just his phone?

The autopsy will provide a time of death. He went missing the 1st, found the 7th, outside, in clean clothes. How long had he been deceased?

If we keep posting, every so often, this thread will pop up to new posts and maybe more people will see it and join. More heads coming up with ideas, possibly more eyes on the case. The more people that know about a case, the more chances that someone who saw, heard, or will hear or see something will know to come forward and tip into LE.

Yes, justice for Damond. Something suspicious happened here. They need to look into the location he was coming from that made him so upset.

There are cameras all over the 4 freeway. LE should be able to see if a car took longer than expected in that area, I would think?

I was wondering if he was upset because of the flat tire, rain? I agree though, we need to know what was going on that night, where he was, who was he with, why was he alone at 4 am? I presume he was on his way home and got a flat. Then what happened? There HAS to be witnesses from the highway traffic, if he got into a car that stopped from the highway?

Rest in peace, Damond. :(

Yes, RIP Damond. Something strange happened. Odd that days later, an anonymous woman called in the tip. He's found in a place already searched dressed in clean, dry clothes. Were they his clothes? Autopsy will determine COD. It's very suspicious, but also isn't difficult to come up with possible scenarios. Very sad.

I Wonder if they will provide the COD to the public?

I am wondering if he was picked up by someone offering to help him but then where did they take him for so many days?

I don't like this one bit. Thanks for posting, this case deserves more attention.

With the car left running and a flat tire, I can’t help but think he was hit by another car. Driver was scared to report it by calling 911, so took him somewhere. Terrible to think about, but how else do you explain it?

his car was under this overcrossing

proximity to the bay (red arrow not exact, its on port chicago hwy under the 4)

Which bay ? Sorry but the bay means Oakland sf waterfront once you go east there’s named straights and separate bags so geographically it just helps me get an idea of what direction you mean. I’m assuming suison? The carquenez straight ?

It’s really sad - the unique rain conditions make me wonder if somehow the elements played a role but as anyone would respond - it still doesn’t add up.

For context - it is pouring rain in Chico right now for the second week straight of rain dumping on California. In the bay as recent as 3–6 when I was there close to where he disappeared - it was pouring heavy rain daily after many days of rainfall. This is unusual for modern ca where we are pretty dang dry despite winters being a little wet. Sacramento is STILL without power! This much rain leads to flooding and erosion that cause lots if accidents but we really need more context on the road conditions and weather for that day and time. Was the road an easily flooded one?

Regardless - I hope this young man is in peace and that his family gets all the answers they deserve to also have more peace while they mourn. Just sad for him and the family…

Ugh this feels icky - with car trouble I imagine being picked up and offered a ride to the nearest gas station is somewhat understandable. Dry clothes !? No way - it’s a dry state so things dry timely but not that timely and it’s been raining non stop he would be soaked still if he was in his original spot assuming he ended there that night.

I don’t know… crime got pushed out of the bay way east to Pittsburgh bay point Antioch etc. Being in port Chicago passed any recreational areas like mtz waterfront or something to this random desolate area just makes me feel something isn’t right.

Who knows where the young kids hang these days - they might have their own regular smoke spots that seem odd to anyone else but it feels like either the reporting is off or it doesn’t make sense for a reason

Low visibility with the weather - fog is low too ESPECIALLY in the areas close to water and it can literally sit on the ground making driving very hard.. totally possible to get hit accidentally

I imagine it will be reported in the local news, but the news stations are not on this everyday asking for information. Coming off the Idaho case there is such a contrast to coverage, which I understand. It really does take Independent Journalists like some of the YouTubers, Websleuths and social media to get a case to the level of the Idaho one in MSM. I noticed that in the Gabby Petito, Kiely Rodni, and most recently the Moscow Idaho murders when the independent YouTubers and social media sleuths started calling the Police department requesting information, and applying for freedom of information documents the cases hit the MSM and went viral.
