I am trying to figure out how to easiest navigate this website. LOL But I am working through it. You can see a few reports of flooding roads in that area by filtering by date. Maybe someone will be better at it than me. I had looked before trying to find the report that was made saying they had seen a male subject walking on the road. I couldn't find it, but there is a lot to look through.

Ok so only things I found
This was interesting because it is close by... they mentioned the keys were still in the car as was something on in there.

and this one.

But it says silver sedan, I went back and looked and it looks like his car is green. But the person who reported it could have mistaken the colors if the green was really light.

Kind of weird that the reports are similar to his situation though.

After going back and looking at the articles. Who saw him last at 4am? Was it a witness, camera or was that when he left someone's house? What location was he coming from?

Maybe I missed some of these.

Concord does not seem to have an online police log.

I know it has only been 2 hours since the last post here but I'm bumping it for more eyes.

Cursory read of facts as shared so far leads me to think he was hit by a vehicle. Dry clothing might be explained another way, or may not be "dry" in the sense we imagine.

IMO

Which bay ? Sorry but the bay means Oakland sf waterfront once you go east there’s named straights and separate bags so geographically it just helps me get an idea of what direction you mean. I’m assuming suison? The carquenez straight ?
its by the martinez/benecia bridge

I'm trying to get the sequence of events.

His vehicle was found on Port Chicago Highway near the Hwy 4 overpass. It was found with the headlights on, the motor running and had a flat tire. I don't think his vehicle was the one mentioned in the CHP report. It's not clear what time the vehicle was discovered.

His mother reported that she got a call from DL around 4 am and he was upset, too upset to drive, she said, since he wanted to come and talk to her. She was in Oakland which is southwest of where his vehicle was found. She said she would go to Pittsburg so they could talk, presumably later in the day of Jan. 1st.

So did he take her advice and not attempt to drive to Oakland? He was found on Hwy 4, but do we know whether it was eastbound or westbound?

His vehicle was on the road underneath Hwy 4 but his body was found on Highway 4 down the embankment. The area where his body was found was previously searched with canines. Do we know the date of the search? His body was found on Saturday Jan 7, seven days after he was reported missing. Bodies have been found in locations previously searched.

I believe a family member found his body. Were they the ones who mentioned his clothing was dry? I know some clothing was found at the site of his VW but what? A jacket? Shirt? Pants? What clothing was he wearing when found?

Around the time he called his mom it was raining heavily in Concord. It started raining around 2:30 am and by 5 am it was raining heavily with fog. It continued to rain heavily until around 7 am. Here's the link for that info.

If he was hitchhiking to get home to Pittsburg, visibility would have been very poor. There's a possibility he may have been involved in a hit and run.

If he died early in the morning of Jan 1, I would think decomposition would have been fairly advanced. It was mostly overcast with rain several days, with a sunny high of 17 on the 1st and an overnight low of 4 degrees on the 2nd.

The thing that really seems to disqualify him dying the day he abandoned his vehicle is the anonymous call directly LE and family to his body.

Concord Police said his car was found in the early hours of Jan 1st near the overpass (I have read the Exit) Concord Police also said they had done extensive searches by Jan 4th.

His family did find his body and are the ones who said he looked clean & dry. I don't think they released which items of clothing were found. But Keys in the ignition and left the car running as well.

Him being from Pittsburg I cannot see him leaving his car on and running and then walking away. Unless he was hoping someone would steal it or was intoxicated or something.

With the storms he could have hit a pot hole and that's how his tire popped. So maybe this could explain why he was upset? But why wouldn't he say that to his Mom?

Maybe his mom's not saying.

No updates, but I wanted to bump his thread. I did not notice any obit posted for him or mentioned anywhere out there, so I am thinking maybe his autopsy is not done yet.

I am curious about this too. Who last saw him, and who is the witness that saw him on the highway in distress? There is not enough coverage of this case. What was he so upset about? I can't imagine how she feels telling him not to come. I wish a YouTube would get this case going, that is often how it ends up in MSM.

I think this is one that we're going to need the medical examiners report to even start speculating with any accuracy. Toxicology will suggest how his plight began and autopsy will suggest how it ended. As it is now there's reporting that seems contradictory to any single theory I can think of.

This doesn't seem victim friendly. Why would the mom be hiding why he was upset?

It's speculation. And I wouldn't call it victim blaming just the same way LE investigating the Idaho university murders want any college kids to come forward with information regardless of the fact they may have been drinking underage, doing drugs or whatever college kids do. His mom may also have been reluctant to say he may have been under the influence because she feared LE wouldn't take his being missing seriously. History supports those fears sometimes.

"Damond Lazenby Jr., 19, was killed by a hit-and-run driver on January 1 on the shoulder of Highway 4 near Port Chicago Highway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Lazenby’s family reported him missing to the Concord Police Department on the same day that he vanished. A search effort was launched and his car was found abandoned near the overpass on Port Chicago Highway.

When his body was found January 7, investigators discovered that he was the victim of a hit-and-run accident.

“It appears Lazenby was struck by a vehicle. The CHP believes Lazenby was struck by the right front portion of a vehicle, and the driver fled the scene. The vehicle is possibly a dark color sedan,” the CHP Golden Gate Division wrote."

I wonder if the person who hit him called LE?

The driver fled after hitting him. I doubt they contacted police. Hopefully with the evidence found at the scence they will discover video to show the car in the area. This is so sad.

Dark color sedan is all they have? Oh no, they need witnesses to come forward. Someone hopefully saw something. I am so confused though. First reports were that his phone pinged at the Chevron on Willow Pass rd exit. This is close, but not next to the car. He would have had to walk or been driven there. Is there anymore details on this? Also, the family said his clothes were dry and clean despite having been downpours, and they had already searched the area he was found. Is it believed that he was always in the spot he was found, they don't think he was dumped there after the fact?

if he was hit by a car he had to be there the whole time and not in clean dry clothes. jeesh what a jerk to leave him thereafter hitting him.

tragic end
I wonder if the damage to his car was from the hit & run or if he got in a single-vehicle accident, then was hit while trying to get help on the highway

It was New Years so my guess would be they were possibly intoxicated.
