He was employed as an artist and lived in the San Remo Hotel on Mason Street in the Fisherman's Wharf area. He has never been heard from again. Urbach was suffering from mental issues at the time and required daily medication. His last two-week prescription was given to him on October 21, eight days prior to his disappearance. Few details are available regarding his case and his whereabouts remain unknown.

The Chico Enterprise, 12 Feb 87, pg 21 - wow! So this "John Doe" had Mr. Urbach's ID (out of Oregon). The "John Doe" was located in Chico which is ~160ish miles from San Francisco, last location of Mr. Urbach.
