A man with Alzheimer’s from Idyllwild went missing on Monday afternoon, and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department was asking for the public’s help in finding him.

David Bradish, an 80-year-old resident of the community in Mt. San Jacinto State Park, just east of Hemet, was last seen at approximately 3:11 p.m. on the 54500 block of North Circle Drive in Idyllwild, officials said.

Bradish is six-feet-tall and 180 pounds with gray hair and blue eyes. The Sheriff’s Department said he was last seen wearing a black jacket, black denim pants, a black baseball hat, black shoes and glasses.

He does not drive and does not have a phone, authorities said.

The family of an 80-year-old man from Idyllwild who has been missing for nearly a week is now calling for help from the public.

The family says David Bradish has stage-two Alzheimer's dementia and may not remember how to get himself home.

[...]

He disappeared from his back porch at his home in the mountains nearly a week ago with his dog, Ginger, a dark red cocker mix.

"He had just gotten back from a walk with the dog and our guess is that he forgot that he already walked the dog and took her for another walk, or the dog ran off and he chased after it and got lost ," said [MO], the missing man's granddaughter. "He's on heart and memory medication daily so every day that he's gone he's more at risk."

Week passes since senior's disappearance, family desperate for answers

Riverside County sheriff's personnel have mounted several area searches, combing the woods and going door-to-door to try to find clues or someone who might know something about the senior's whereabouts.

Bradish's loved ones have joined the effort, distributing flyers and visiting hospitals throughout the region in the hope of generating leads as to where he might have gone. They've also started using a social media hashtag -- #finddavidbradish.

A community galvanized by the disappearance of a man with Alzheimer’s • Idyllwild Town Crier
Idyllwild is known for its residents’ commitment to pulling together when there is difficulty. It also is known for its spirit of volunteerism. Both were at work in community members coming together to try to find Bradish and his Cocker spaniel-mix, Ginger.

There are many prayers now being offered by this community, hope against hope, that Bradish will be found. His story and his plight have touched a deeply emotional nerve in this community in which many residents are older.
