A cadaver dog is now searching for Souza, who hasn't been seen or heard from since July 25, with a missing person's report filed four days later.

His dogs were left behind, and he has multiple businesses .... left unattended.

"It (blood) was on the property, outside the residence, and yeah, it was on a wheelbarrow," Breyon Canez, with the San Benito County Sheriff's Office, said. "So we're like I said, we're trying to get the results back and see where our next step is.

Snipped.from above...
...60-year-old Souza lives on the 2000 block of San Juan Highway, where he operates a self-storage yard and mechanic shop.

This isn't good - there had to be signitifcant blood found to bring out the cadaver dogs. I couldn't find anything on him at all in public records. There is a David John S. in San Juan Batista that I found an ancient traffic ticket for but that person is associated with a completely different business enterprise located elsewhere today, so I don't think it is the missing man.

San Benito County Sheriff's fb account in the comments of their post about any vehicles involved:

San Benito County Sheriff: "...his cars were all left at his property when he went missing."

About his phone being traced:

San Benito County Sheriff: "...that has been done and nothing was discovered that would be helpful at this time."

Believed to be a homicide

Investigators are intensifying their search for David Souza, a San Juan Bautista man who has been missing for over a month and is believed to be the victim of foul play, focusing on his property with the help of cadaver dogs and search teams from Santa Clara County.

San Benito County sheriff's deputies are working alongside the Department of Justice, executing numerous search warrants and conducting extensive searches across the county.

Investigators are examining phone records, bank records, and surveillance video to identify Souza's killer or killers.

"We're trying to identify who those people are," Canez said. "And we will identify them. So whether they come on their own accord or we have to go to them, we will identify who they are."

Blood was found on Souza's property, and investigators are uncertain if any of the surveillance cameras on the property captured any suspects.
