This is the most recent update with LE that I can find. It's from five months ago - Sgt Priddy is interviewed.
I have to say, while I understand MSPD is a one or two officer department - Priddy says over and over they have no resources or the time to investigate Davohnte's disappearance. Why can't they enlist the help of Siskiyou County Sheriffs Office or the CBI to help them?

Very frustrating for Davohnte's family!!
I've already suggested MSPD obtain help from SCSO, but if that isn't possible - how about the California Office of the Attorney General? SGT Priddy says his force has no time or resources to properly investigate this case. Isn't that a GAP the AG's Office is supposed to fill for small underfunded jurisdictions? Or are victims of crime just SOL if something happens to them in an area like this?

The fact that he was able to fix his mouth to say no resources/ no time. What exactly have they done to find him? Are they actually following up on leads as they come in?

Davohnte Morgan disappeared during a trip to Mt. Shasta in 2021.
A family is offering a $25,000 reward for information about a man who disappeared four years ago during a trip to the City of Mt. Shasta.

So why was Davohnte and his GF visiting that area ? He apparently did not have any family or friends there, but did she? Interesting the cell phone and credit card was inactive. There is camera footage of him walking the town, then he is simply never seen again. I assume he left his personal belongings back at the hotel, so he wouldn't have hitchiked back home to San Francisco without them (?) How did he and the GF get to Mt. Shasta in the first place?

Family members said the 28-year-old was last seen at the Cold Creek Inn in Mt. Shasta City, where he was staying with his girlfriend for a quick getaway from home in San Francisco.
"What happened was they had a fight. He went one way. She went another way. She can't find him," said Rhodes.

Yes, this area is extremely scary! I camped on a remote logging road once out there. Decided I'd never do that again. Lots of burnt out cars/RVs. And other very obvious signs of criminal activity.Family members said the 28-year-old was last seen at the Cold Creek Inn in Mt. Would be very easy to end up being a victim of foul play there. I tend to stay in the state parks when I'm up there for safety, which is an odd behavior for me because I normally try to stay very far away from developed campgrounds and just camp way out by myself.
Have to be really careful in Northern California & Southern Oregon!!!

Opinion: I think more credence needs to be given to the story told to his brother that he was stabbed and dumped in the river near Twin lake. The man said his name before looking at the flyer which makes me think he knew something. I also grew up in Idaho, and I know that the mountain towns in the Pacific Northwest are extremely dangerous for black Americans. I know the girlfriend is suspicious, but they traced his steps thoroughly, which makes me think it’s more likely to be a hate crime. I think it’s a shame the river and lake areas were not searched.
Police in Northern California are continuing the search for a missing man.
According to the Mt. Shasta Police Department, Devohnte Morgan’s then-girlfriend told police she and Morgan got into an argument and broke up on May 4. They reportedly still spent the night together at the Cold Creek Inn before she left to watch the sunrise. They crossed paths again and Morgan was reportedly upset, but they didn’t say anything to each other. The two then separated.
On May 7, Morgan was reported missing.
“There is great concern for Devohnte at this point in the investigation as he has had no confirmable contact or activity,” investigators said. “Family is adamant that he would not have gone missing without contacting them. No family members have heard from Devohnte since his disappearance. The family has hired a private investigator and are now offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to his return.”
The police department is asking for surveillance video from all residents of Mt. Shasta that was recorded between May 5 and May 7 in an effort to find Morgan. He’s described as a 28-year-old black man, 5’11” tall with a thin build. He has a thin goatee and walks with a slight limp.

I currently live in Mt Shasta, moved here in 2023. I am going to do some reading about this case. Unfortunately, this is an area where people can disappear easily, whether they choose to or someone else chooses to make them disappear. Just too much wild lands that are full of trees, bushes, and vines. I often ponder how easy it would be to make someone disappear as I drive along the I-5 corridor of thick vegetation.

My opinion is the most likely gas station would be the truck stop, which is a massive hub of semi-truck traffic. It is not in Weed proper, but south of it by a couple miles. Hundreds of semi-trucks go through there every day, as it is the only real truck stop between Redding, CA and Medford, OR. It would have bee easy for him to attempt to hitch back to SF from that truck stop.
Makes me wonder if he crossed paths with someone at the truck stop in Weed. Also wonder if there are other missing persons along the I-5 trucking corridor, especially men, and especially black men. Over the past 10 years. Any way to search for that?
