20-year-old man vanishes from freeway in Martinez

Police are searching for a 20-year-old man after his car was found on southbound Interstate 680 in Martinez on Friday.
Dominic Williams’car was found near the Marina Vista Avenue off-ramp of the freeway.

Williams' parents received a text message from him just before noon on Friday. The text message thanked his parents for everything and told them that he loved them, which apparently was common for Williams to do.

A Napa County deputy called the U.S. Coast Guard to ask them to search the water around the bridge, McWilliams said.

Coast Guard officials said a crew did not find any evidence that Williams jumped from the bridge into the Carquinez Strait.

Deputies checked the car. They did not find any evidence of foul play, McWilliams said.

Per OP's link above: Williams’ prescription glasses and cell phone was found on a walking path near the Benicia Bridge.

Per second link above: At about 3:30 p.m. Friday, a woman found Williams' phone and eyeglasses on a railing on the Benicia-Martinez Bridge.

If LE searched well, wouldn't these items have been recovered by LE? I think there needs to be another search of the whole area....

they should have. but im not entirely certain he'd be easily found just by a quick search of the bay. this bridge is further from the ocean than golden gate so its possible he doesn't drift out right away but its still possible.

A man found dead on the San Rafael shoreline Friday was identified as a Napa County resident, the coroner’s office reported Sunday.

Dominick Williams, 20, of American Canyon, had been reported missing on Feb. 3. Security video showed him walking alone on the Benicia-Martinez Bridge shortly before a splash was recorded in the strait below, said Darrell Harris, Marin’s chief deputy coroner.
“Mr. Williams is presumed to have intentionally jumped,” Harris said.
