As of Tuesday, The Los Angeles Police Department had not released the victim's name, but family and friends identified him as PhysicianHamid Mirshojae.

The 61-year-old victim, police wrote in a release, died Friday at the scene of shooting in the city's Woodland Hills neighborhood, close to where his office is at Warner Plaza Urgent Center.

About at 6:12 p.m. local time, officers responded to the scene and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound near his vehicle. The Los Angeles Fire Department pronounced the man dead at the scene, police said''.

A beloved local doctor was shot and killed Friday night in Woodland Hills and police are still searching for a suspect. The victim was identified as Hamid Mirshojae, 61, a doctor who worked at the Warner Plaza Medical Center located at Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Oxnard Street.He was walking to his car when an unknown suspect approached him and shot him multiple times at around 5:34 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

"They came and they beat him with baseball bats. ... They were some strangers that we didn't know," an employee who worked for Mirshojae and requested anonymity out of concern for her safety told the Los Angeles Times.

It was not immediately known whether the baseball bat attack was related to Mirshojae's fatal shooting Friday. Los Angeles Police Department Detective Christine Moselle said detectives are aware of the earlier assault, which remains unsolved.''
