GUILTY CA - Dr. William Ayres for child molestation, San Mateo, 2007 #2

Of course Doran Weinberg would praise McKowan. She lost to him.
Shameful.
I will eagerly wait to see him escorted to Napa. I hope it happens. So little for such a horrible deviant.

Prosecutor Mckowan says "Ayres won." What a bizarre statement from a prosecutor-particularly as she refused to take the calls from the familie's lawyer when he called to say that Ayres was mentally competent to stand trial.

Aren't we glad that the FBI is investigating Wagstaffe and his ties to the Ayres case (along with tons of other corruption), and that the California Bar is investigating Wagstaffe Guidotti and Mckowan for their corrupt roles in the Ayres case!

Stay tuned!

She folded. And my instinct says that it was money or influence peddling. What did she receive in exchange for her deal with the devil? I wonder if she gets the fact that she was assigned the case because Steve Wagstaffe knew she would be OK with dropping the ball? Or that Steve Wagstaffe knew that she would be open to letting Ayres get away with his crimes?

I mean really-your boss thinks your a hack. JMVHO.

Sigh. There's a new news story out today.

Here's what prosecutor Mckowan told the paper today about the Boston Doctors who trained with Ayres. As Websleuthers will remember, Mckowan went on the Ayres blog in 2010 and denounced the Boston doctors. She stated that they could not confirm that they weren't trained to do physicals on boys. However, the doctors deny that these conversations took place and deny telling her that they couldn't confirm they weren't trained to do physical. Mckowan has also stated at other times that she called the Boston doctors but they never called her back and she never spoke to them.

But let's look at this. All of a sudden after saying she couldn't use the Boston doctors because they wouldn't be helpful, and couldn't contradict Ayres she NOW TELLS THE PAPER THIS WEEK THAT THESE SAME DOCTORS SHE SAID SHE COULDN'T USE WERE ON THE WITNESS LIST.

Who can keep track of the different stories she's told ? Think we're up to twelve by now. Might be thirteen.

Take a look at what she said to the paper today:

McKowan placed Amati Mehler and another person who trained at Judge Baker, Dr. Joseph Mullen, on her witness list for the 2009 criminal trial, but she didn't call them to the stand. http://www.mercurynews.com/san-mateo-county/ci_19194847

Then look at what she says about the SAME witnesses on her blog comment. Relevant info is in italics:

Blog comment made by San Mateo prosecutor Melissa Mckowan. Confirmed as Mckowan’s by her supervisor, Assistant District Attorney Karen Guidotti:

http://williamayreswatch.blogspot.com/2009/12/yale-debunks-ayres-our-child.html

Melissa McKowan said...

" But take my word for it, any "credible" tip that has come in has been looked into. So far, until this particular unattributed blog entry, I have never seen any "independent investigation" that has led to the discovery of an actual witness. For instance, the three (not four) Judge Baker Graduates who would allegedly have debunked Ayres' statements about being trained there--did NOT confirm to the police or the DA what it was alleged in the blogs that they would say. One told me that she had told the reporter who talked to her that she didn't know anything about Ayres and was in school later than him and that although she could say SHE was never trained to give exams, she "couldn't say for sure what his training was." That is NOT helpful. Another one refused to testify and the last one is physically unable to travel and lives in Europe.[/I] That said, I invite anyone with information that they think will be useful to call me directly at the DA's office (650-363-4774) and talk to me about it. I wish you all well and I hope that I am successful in our mutual goal of convicting a horrible child molester. Thank you. Melissa McKowan, SMC DA's Office

Although prosecutor Mckowan told a reporter yesterday that Ayres was checking in to Napa today, her boss DA Wagstaffe has been evasive with reporters and keeps saying he "will get back " to them about whether Ayres is actually going to Napa today.

From experience, we know that Mckowan often tells the press one thing, while Wagstaffe has a completely different story.

Stay tuned.

I suppose Mr Ayres should be praying that no one who crossed his path is in that facility.

I had to laugh at this quote from the mercury news:

McKowan has filed a response to these accusations, which she views as a campaign to destroy her career.

Why would someone want to destroy her career? Oh I suppose the families of the victims are in on it, the award winning journalist advocating for them is in on it, the COO of Judge Baker Guidance Center, not to mention Ayres' peers.

Apparently they are all plotting??

Yes, we heard this week that Mckowan is angry at the mother of a victim who caught her in a lie about contacting a doctor who trained with ayres and then filed a complaint with the California Bar. She is just angry she caught. She gets caught in a lie, and yet blames someone else!

. She has shown no remorse for her false statements or abusive treatment of parents of victims. California Bar is also investigating Mckowan's falsely accusing a mother of a victim of leaking confidential information from the DA's office during the trial to the Ayres blog. She warned the mother in a bullying manner that she had "evidence" on her and was keeping files on her in her office. Never mind that a few months later Mckowan went on the blog and said that she "NEVER reads the blog." ( It's clear that she can't remember which lies she's told to who anymore) Mckowan caused the poor mother - already under emotional stress from testifying - an enormous amount of anguish by this false accusation.

Sadly and bizarrely, when the mother finally complained to Mckowan's superior Karen Guidotti about Mckowan's false accusation, Guidotti said, " We don't have any files on you. I don't know what you're talking about." Turns out Mckowan made the whole accusation up out of thin air.

Guidotti asked the mother what she wanted to happen. The mother asked that Mckowan call her to apologize for her craziness. Guidotti promised to make that happen. That was in September 2010.

The mother never heard from Mckowan.

This is just one of many incidents where Mckowan threw around false accusations to crime victims and parents and prosecution witnesses. We thought a prosecutor would be concerned with actual evidence when throwing around accusations. Not this one. She is out of control.

An Ayres victim asks why the San Mateo Board of Supervisors refuse to respond to victims' requests to rescind a Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. Ayres "for his tireless efforts to improve the lives of children" before he was arrested.

Apathy and Cowardice

People involved in the exacerbation of the Penn State Jerry Sandusky child molestation nightmare seem to be realizing the extent to which they allowed evil to influence them.

The charity that Sandusky founded (The Second Mile) and which he used to identify and select victims has realized that any good that it may have done can not survive the evil caused by Sandusky:

According to Fox News, David Woodle, the chief executive of The Second Mile has said that "We're working hard to figure out how the programs can survive this event, We aren't protective of the organization that it survives at all costs."

Various collegiate and local political groups have realized that they probably even need to divorce themselves of Joe Paterno, the head coach, who was one of several individuals who supported Sandusky’s child molestation by deliberately and utterly failing to report Sandusky’s evil deeds over a period of many years:

According to the Washington Post, Pittsburgh mayor Luke Ravenstahl has written a letter strongly rebuking Franco Harris, a former Penn State star who spoke out against the firing of Joe Paterno. Harris is a member of the “Pittsburgh Promise” scholarship board. Ravenstahl and the board gave serious consideration to removing Harris based on his support for Paterno before ultimately deciding on the letter of rebuke.

Brown University is carefully watching the situation as well. Joe Paterno graduated from there in 1950, and the university awards a “Joe Paterno ’50 Award” to "outstanding first-year varsity male athletes." They are considering renaming the award, given Paterno's cowardly inaction. According to the article in the Boston Globe, Matt Kutler, a 2001 honoree, said it “wouldn’t be a bad idea’’ to remove Paterno’s name.

So what about the william ayres case?

In January of 2002, ayres was nominated by then San Mateo County Supervisor Rich Gordon (Gordon is now a California State Assemblyman) for a "Lifetime Achievement Award" for his "service on the Children and Families First Commission, and his tireless efforts to improve the lives of children and adolescents."

The resolution was passed by the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors in spite of the fact that several reports of molestation had already been filed (and dismissed without investigation) with various county agencies. Board Members who approved the nomination unanimously: Mark Church, Richard S. Gordon, Jerry Hill, Rose Jacobs Gibson, Michael D. Nevin; County Manager: John Maltbie; County Counsel: Tom Casey

On several occasions San Mateo County Board of Supervisors members have been asked by victims and their families to move to revoke the “Lifetime Achievement Award” and nothing has happened.

Rich Gordon has been asked to do the same on several occasions by me and others -- four times by me, --through his office email, and in facebook posts, and even in person in some cases – emails have gone unanswered, and the facebook posts promptly deleted. In person requests were apparently greeted coldly, consideration promised, and promptly ignored.

I’d like to be able to say that our local politicians are not savvy enough to recognize their cowardice in the face of so much evil – that they are so afraid to call attention to their own shortcomings in supporting ayres, that they don’t want to raise the issue, but frankly the local press and the local authorities, and even the local citizens seem so apathetic to the damage done by child sexual abuse, that the local politicians can just continue to act in a cowardly manner with little fear of the kind of public backlash being experienced by those involved in the Sandusky case.

william hamilton ayres couldn’t have picked a better county in which to molest young boys.

Thanks to the Penn State situation, and the news out of Texas, we may have the wind at our back a little here....how can we get national media to roll the Ayres case in with the other stuff being discussed? I suspect that might cause some action...I bet San Mateo might find the wherewithal to rescind it...unless there is some thing deeper at the heart of the support there for him.

Which is very possible.

Coming up on 30 days of "incarceration" at Napa. Anyone have any inkling of what is going to happen now?

  • #752
At least one victim has called Napa to find out if Ayres is actually there. He was told that his name had to be on "the list" in order to find out what was going on.

Sadly, that's true of all State Hospitals. Confidentiality, you know....

There is a comment about the similarities in the Ayres and Sandusky cases today in the comments section of a New York Times interview with Jerry Sandusky.

Wrestling, hugging — “I think a lot of the kids really reached out for that,” he said.

This is a classic pedophile response- the children "ask" for it.

By the way, there's a very similar case in San Mateo California, involving Dr. William Ayres, a former President of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Pscyhiatry. Ayres brought troubled boys all sorts of presents; groomed them, and then molested them. There were complaints about Ayres going back to the 1960s to police and to Ayres' partners and to Children's Services and to the California Medical Board. Some doctors say now they strongly suspected Ayres was molesting boys but didn't report him because they didn't want to get involved.

The failure of institutions like the Catholic Church; Penn State; the medical profession; the Boy Scouts and others to deal with this problem is just so very widespread.

In the Ayres case, people have wondered out loud for years how his wife Solveig could stick with him. An interesting article in the Daily Beast talks about the "complicit"wives of pedophiles.

Excerpts:http://www.thedailybeast.com/newsweek/2011/12/04/complicit-wives-dottie-sandusky.html

In the aftermath of the Penn State sex-abuse scandal—and newer allegations against former Syracuse University assistant basketball coach Bernie Fine—some of the most perplexing questions to arise have been about the women who shared the alleged molesters’ beds while it was all happening. How on earth could they not have known? Does it take a certain kind of woman to live this kind of lie?

.....Psychologists are quick to caution that there is no one-size-fits-all model for these women—but they do share some common characteristics. Low self-esteem tops the list. Many are also religious, submissive, shy, and emotionally unstable, says Charlene Steen, another psychologist who specializes in treating sex offenders. (Much of this calls to mind Dottie Sandusky, whose life seemed to revolve around her demigod husband and his charity where she volunteered.)

An Ayres victim who was molested in 1966 just came forward. He had written a letter to the California Medical Board in 1994 to say he had been molested, but they did nothing.

The San Mateo police tried to find this victim when they were doing a search warrant on Ayres in 2006. They were unable to find him, which is odd, considering they knew his name and the state he lived in.

This is the earliest known victim of Ayres. He is 58. The most recent victim to come forward was molested in the late 1990s. That's a span of more than 30 years.

Ayres managed to get away with his pedophilia longer than Jerry Sandusky.

This victim did not know that Ayres had been arrested. It was the Sandusky scandal that prompted him to do a recent Google search on Ayres.

We are hoping that other victims- in particular those who were molested by Ayres in Boston- will be emboldened to come forward, now that the Sandusky case is shining a spotlight on sexual abuse of boys.

The Ayres victim who was molested in 1966 who came forward 10 days ago was at Hillcrest Juvenile Hall when Ayres molested him. His Hillcrest counselor was a young man named Jim Fox. Fox would go on to be the District Attorney of San Mateo.. He retired just a year ago. He was the head DA during the 2009 Ayres trial. He groomed Steve Wagstaffe to be his heir. Fox retired just over a year ago.

Ten days ago, this victim called wrote a letter to his old counselor Fox and stated that Ayres had molested him. This victim had contacted Fox on another matter several years ago. Back then, Fox remembered the man and responded to him.

But this time there hasn't been a peep from Fox.

One wonders just how much contact Fox had with Ayres at Hillcrest Juvenile Hall? How many other boys did he know there who were molested by Ayres?

San Mateo should never ever have prosecuted this case. Ayres was in too deep with people like Fox; Juvenile Judge Marta Diaz; the head of Hillcrest; Children's Services.

At least in the Sandusky case Penn State has hired a team to investigate its failure to properly act on complaints. Not San Mateo. They have buried their head in the sand in the hopes this will go away.

We have no doubt that more ugly revelations will be coming forward in the Ayres case, thanks to the media surrounding Sandusky. Victims all over the country have become emboldened to stand up, speak out and fight back.
