GUILTY CA - Dr. William Ayres for child molestation, San Mateo, 2007 #2

  • #341
Finally, thanks to all of your good work Mercyneal and Belinda. Although I am sure this will cause all sorts of delays, it is about time someone looked into this. How horrible for all of Ayres' victims to have a lying prosecutor and to have the entire office ignore this. I hope they move swiftly.

Thank you for taking the time to write to Steve Wagstaffe, as well, everyone.

Well, perhaps we should reserve judgement about this "internal investigation" into prosecutor Melissa Mckowan.

The mother of an Ayres victim called Steve Wagstaffe, Mckowan's boss to ask that he meet with the parents of Ayres victims. He declined and passed her off to Mckowan's immediate superior, Karen Guidotti.

HOWEVER, Guidotti stood in for Mckowan at the most recent hearing in the case for which Mckowan is being sued for lying and fraud in that other child abuse case. Mckowan couldn't attend, so Guidotti stood in to defend her.

Isn't there a department of internal affairs who could investigate Mckowan's behavior? Is there enough distance between Guidotti and Mckowan - who has said that she doesn't make a decision without the permission of Guidotti- for Guidotti to do a good job?

Also, when the mother of the victim called Guidotti, she said Guidotti asked her why the parents wanted to meet. The mother said they wanted to talk about the Ayres case. The mother said that Guidotti "exploded" and said "Is this about all that stuff that reporter Victoria Balfour has been bombarding us with?"

The mother of the victim said Guidott's response made her feel defensive and she just swallowed her words.

Too bad the mother didn't say something like,"You're damn right I am calling about the stuff the reporter sent you. Your office's handling of the Ayres case is a disgrace. You can't control your prosecutor, who has told numerous lies. We are the taxpayers. You should be pursuing the truth instead of covering yourselves."

Guidotti's response was not cool. You would think she would be happy to have parents who feel they have been wronged come in to speak their opinions.

You would think a district attorney's office would be very concerned about - for example - one of their prosecutors who has falsely accused a mother of an Ayres victim of feeding confidential information to the Ayres blog and then warning her that she was "keeping a file" on this back in her office.

Why get upset about the messenger? Why not look at the message?

Surprise, surprise: Ayres' lawyer asks for another delay - this time for the jury trial in the mental competency issue. Doctors have already found him to be competent, but now his lawyer wants a jury trial. And he's obviously trying to run out the clock.

http://www.smdailyjournal.com/artic...&title=Doctor seeks delay in molestation case

This all could have been avoided had the San Mateo District Attorney's office done a competent job on the first trial. But they lost it, due to lack of preparation and the failure to look into Ayres' training.

And now Ayres is laughing at them - just winning delay after delay. The DA sure hasn't put up much of a fight with these delays. It's like they don't want to win, and don't care.

It is indeed mystifying that the prosecutor's immediate superior, Karen Guidotti, would explode at a parent of an Ayres victim yesterday on the phone, when the parent said that parents of victims had some "concerns" about Mckowan's actions on the Ayres case.

It should be the other way around: the parents of the Ayres victims should be exploding at the San Mateo DA's office

This should have been a slam dunk case. In Ohio, it only took prosecutors NINE months from the time of arrest to the conviction of identical twin pediatricians Dr. Mark and Dr. Scott Blankenburg on 75 counts of child molestation, possession of child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 and bribery.

But San Mateo County couldn't get it together to convict Ayres on the first time, even though the trial took place more than two years after the arrest. And the prosecutor waited until the last minute to do prep work; and apparently did not do other prep work that she claims she did. For all we know, this "internal investigation" into Mckowan may not be that thorough. Because for the DA's office to admit wrongdoing on the part of Mckowan, that would make Karen Guidotti and Steve Wagstaffe look bad too.

The San Mateo DA's office is a disgrace to the entire justice system. They should be ashamed of themselves and their behavior. I know I am. I don't understand the continual failures of this office. The complete lack of interest in this case, by them, is astounding. I am really becoming concerned that someone is being paid off to sink this case. That is becoming the only reasonable answer to the continued shenanigans going on there.

Okay, so who is Fox's boss?

  • #348
I will find out who to complain to about Fox, Wagstaffe, Guidotti and Mckowan.

Could be the California Bar, or the California Attorney General's office or the United States Justice Department in Washington DC.

Will post here when I find out who to contact.

Thanks Mercyneal. I think we are going to have to do a deluge campaign. Send letters to every single person even remotely connected to or responsible for this case. Then, send copies once again to all of the newspapers. This has gotten to the point of ludicrous. There has to be somebody worth their salt that can do something about this. We just have to find them.

Well, so far reporter John Cote from the San Francisco Chronicle is the ONLY reporter who has picked up on this and put in a call to Steve Wagstaffe and challenged him.

By the way, Cote says that when he called Wagstaffe last Thursday, September 16, Wagstaffe "bluffed" and pretended not to know about Dr. Amati Mehler, the doctor who trained at Judge Baker and who knew Ayres. She was the one Mckowan said was "physically unable to travel" . Amati Mehler refuted this to Victoria Balfour, saying that she had always been able to travel, and that furthermore she was "99 % sure " that she was never contacted by either Mckowan or the police.

Cote finds it hard to believe that Wagstaffe didn't know about Amati Mehler, as reporter Victoria Balfour has been sending both Fox and Wagstaffe documents on this, some of them by Priority Mail since August 13, 2010.

I wouldn't say that Wagstaffe is "bluffing." He's lying, which is not at all unusual for him.

A commenter on the William Ayres blog just had a good suggestion re: Ayres' lawyer asking for a new delay:

The trade off for another delay would be to raise and OR revoke his bail.

These are the options. Any way to relay that information to the courts?

If he keeps asking for exceptions and freedom the other side should ask for something too.

It's time to quit giving to ayres and take some things aways - like his freedom and money - more bail, or revoke it.

See post on new delay tactic over at www.williamayreswatch.blogspot.com

The trouble with the San Mateo District Attorney's office is that they have no fight in them.

The William Ayres blog is reporting that there will be a hearing this Friday, September 24 on Ayres' lawyer's request for the delay in the mental competency trial.

So, Steve Wagstaffe took the phone call of reporter John Cote from the San Francisco Chronicle last Thursday, but Wagstaffe hasn't had the decency to respond to a single citizen's complaint about Mckowan's actions on the Ayres case.

His failure to respond to people like Belinda; OhioGirl and Ziggy is shameful. He's either a coward, arrogant or just hoping it will all blow over. Most likely it's a combination of the three.

Well, he can forget that. This is not going to blow over. I know I am perfectly willing to write more letters and keep going up the ladder until I get a response. Each rung up the ladder will receive copies of the letters sent to the others further down and copies will continue to go to the newspapers. I'm sure there are others here who will not be willing to let them get away with not responding to our concerns.

Gone unreported: There was a hearing today in the molestation civil suit against Ayres by Greg Doe:
09/22/2010 9:00 AM DEPT. LM HEARING: MOTION RE: TO COMPEL RESPONSES TO SPECIAL INTERROGATORIES FILED BY JOHN DOE 1

Case number CIV467743

This is just one of five current civil molestation suits against Ayres going on now. Ayres settled another molestation civil suit filed by a victim in July 2005. The victim received $395,000.

It makes you wonder if he is even reading what is being sent to him, or is he just passing it off to someone else?

WTH?? Is this person referring to Ayres or Tarquin Thomas? Other than the single incident of the discussion of Shakespeare in Ashland, I've seen nothing about Ayres even visiting Oregon. Let me see if I can find anything.

You all know that Samuel Arthur Silverman practiced as a therapist in Ashland for years. I have a thread on him. He abused many many boys and was incorrectly sentenced by a judge who got censored for the lenient sentencing. An appeals court reexamined the case and set the correct amount but Silverman fled the country. He's doing time at Snake River right now after being extradited from Israel where he fled prosecution following the appeal. Interpol followed his wife during a clandestine visit to find him. In reading Silverman's appeal, it seems highly possible that he had other men around for his "pool parties". He's the one who has the three doctors who vouched for him saying that they'd encouraged him to continue treatment as he was known to be a pedophile. He was even encouraged to keep his proclivities secret from his wife, a well known psychiatrist for both children and adults in Southern Oregon.

I guess Ayres certainly could have worked for a while in one of the larger cities too--Eugene, Salem or Portland. Our teaching hospitals and "behavioral units" for youth are located in Portland. A handful of teens and children were held at the old State Hospital in Salem until about five years ago. Our son spent two years there and many allegations of sexual abuse have come out. Could Ayres have been a "visiting" or "interim" physician there? I know they had a tough time keeping staff.

Wow. Just wow.

Ayres has not worked in Oregon, but I get the feeling he and his wife were regular visitors to the Ashland Shakespeare Festival. Their son is an aspiring director in Chicago; and Ayres' wife had bit roles in plays put on at MIT in the early 1960s in Massachusetts. She still sings with a chorale. She fancies herself to be quite "artsy" as does Dr. Ayres.

We will make some investigations into the Oregon allegations. It's not a stretch...

A former detective who worked in Santa Clara County (next one over in San Mateo) told me last year that the County had numerous complaints about Ayres.
