I’m sorry but when your son is missing 1-2 weeks, and the mother is telling different lies... wouldn’t you demand an answer? Wouldn’t you want to check up on your son, to call or visit?
I’m not ever going to buy his story that he had no idea... can’t wrap my head around it... nope.

I respectfully disagree, I do not think Dad had or has a clue. I think Duke was passed back and forth so much between Grandma's house and his own house that Dad did not really keep track and I do not believe Dad would have considered that Duke was at risk from "mom" or "aunt". I believe Dad is rather debilitated because of his brain aneurysm, you can see the scarring on his head where I believe he did have brain surgery. I do not know what Dad's cognitive functioning level is but I do know that individuals that have/had brain issues have many cognitive limitations. To put it bluntly, I think Dad was too naive/stupid to even consider or realize his son was missing. Even Grandma suggested that she was pretty sure Dad had no involvement or knowledge regarding what happened to Duke, while pointing to her head and shaking her head suggesting "dad is just not there". IMO, dad had and has no clue but has subsequently been apprised of his son's missing/endangered status and decided to comment. I think Dad is completely innocent with regard to Duke's missing/demise. MOO.

Today AJ will be laid to rest, and I’m hoping that they will find Duke today so he can be at peace. I like to think they are all together finally happy, free of pain, and full of love.

Search for Missing Apple Valley Boy’s Body Enters 5th Day at Victorville Landfill
Crews on Friday morning again resumed searching a landfill in Victorville for the remains of Duke Flores, a missing 6-year-old boy who is believed to have been killed by his mother and aunt.

I was hoping he would be found by now. LE hasn't shared any info of anything found of value. I'm hoping that they have found evidence that gives them courage to keep looking.

Jackee Contreras, Duke’s mother, and Jennifer Contreras, Duke’s aunt, on advice from their attorneys, requested that their next appearance be postponed.

A preliminary hearing had been originally scheduled for May 13.

Superior Court Judge Lisa Rogan ordered a “disposition and reset” hearing on June 6, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for August 5.

At the June hearing, Deputy District Attorney Justin Crocker said, “attorneys will discuss whether all parties are ready for a preliminary hearing or not.”

At the preliminary hearing, “the prosecution has the burden of presenting evidence showing that there is probable cause to show that the crime or crimes have been committed by the defendant(s),” said Crocker.

“Prosecutors have an easier case when there is a body. Then they just have to show who did it,” Johnson said. “Here, they have to show that the person has died and that the defendant committed the murder.”

He added that detectives likely gathered strong circumstantial evidence that led to charging the sisters with murder and to a specific area of the landfill.

“If you don’t have a body, and you’re relying on circumstantial evidence where you have to have that independently corroborated, it’s important to keep the facts confidential and tight within the police department,” Johnson said of the Sheriff’s department’s reticence in commenting publicly on the case. “So you don’t taint other evidence and get people repeating things that they may have learned from the media or some other source and try to protect the integrity of the case.”

My husband had to make a dump run today and saw the searchers. He said it was especially sad seeing them first-hand and knowing the kind of rubbish and trash they're digging through to find a human being. A beautiful little boy who was taken much, much too soon. Rest in peace, Duke.

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (AP) — A search has resumed at a Mojave Desert landfill where authorities believe the body of a 6-year-old boy is buried.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department says homicide detectives, 11 other department employees, 20 volunteers and 1 search dog are on the scene Monday at the Victorville landfill.

The search for the remains of little Duke Flores has been underway since late last month, when a welfare check requested by a relative led to the arrest of his mother and aunt in Apple Valley.

They have pleaded not guilty to murder charges.

In our area where Duke went missing there is a tremendous amount of interest and public outcry. People want to search but aren't allowed due to possible evidence tampering, etc. Everyone feels completely helpless and devastated. We all want Duke found and properly laid to rest.

Good to hear that his name and finding him are important locally. With the mother and aunt in jail, the continual news cycle of setting up in front of the house won't happen. I hope that he is found soon and we can get a definitive manner and cause of death.

We don't have any local MSM so the news vans have to come from Los Angeles which is an hour or so away. We have a local FB news page that does a good job of reporting but nothing on TV.

But Monday’s efforts concluded without any discoveries, officials said.

The operation was expected to resume Tuesday morning.
