Who is Dylan Flanagan and when did he go missing?

Dylan Flanagan was last seen at 5pm on a kayak.

Dylan Flanagan, 28, was visiting Clear Lake with a friend on the afternoon of Sunday, October 10, 2021.

He solo paddled at the lake and never returned.

Flanagan was last seen paddling away from the Clearlake Oaks Boat Launch, according to his relative, Aimee Flanagan.

Aimee said that Dylan is “not the kind of guy that would leave his friend without saying anything.”

Lake County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Walter White said the department received the report of Flanagan’s disappearance the evening of October 10.

Both land deputies and the Marine Patrol units searched for Flanagan throughout the night.

On October 11, the search continued and the Marine Patrol unit located a kayak they believe to be Flanagan’s.

However, he still remains missing.

According to Aimee, Flanagan is 6”1’ and approximately 170-190 lbs.

According to a photo she provided, Flanagan has brown hair, brown eyes, and a brown mustache/beard combination.

He was last seen wearing a navy Hawaiian shirt, black sunglasses, a straw hat, and tie-dye boardshorts.

If anyone knows anything about the whereabouts of Dylan Flanagan, Sergeant White asks you to contact the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Non-Emergency line at (707)263-2690.

There are more details on his girlfriend's social media, but I don't think that I'm allowed to share that here. I became aware of him being missing from her post, but knew I needed to find a main stream media source in order to post to WS. I hope that The Sun is sufficient.

If anyone knows if I am allowed to post more details from social media, please let me know.

Dylan Rockne Flanagan, 28, of San Francisco, California, has not been seen since going kayaking on Clear Lake on Sunday, October 10, 2021.

Flanagan and friends were reported to be staying at a vacation rental this week to celebrate his birthday when he decided to go out kayaking late Sunday afternoon, heading toward Rattlesnake Island.

Ward said deputies responded to the report of an overdue kayaker near East State Highway 20 and Olsen Road in Clearlake Oaks at 8:20 p.m. Sunday.

At approximately 9:37 a.m. Monday, Marine Patrol units located a dark green kayak in the area of Widgeon Bay, Ward said.

San Francisco man reported missing after solo kayaking trip

Dylan Flanagan, 28, was last seen at around 4:45 p.m. Sunday.

Around 20 minutes later, Flanagan's girlfriend called him on his cell phone to ensure his wellbeing; he picked up and assured her he was safe.

But hours passed by, the sheriff's office said, and all "subsequent calls went to his voicemail."

Deputies arrived to the scene just after 10 p.m. after being contacted by Flanagan's girlfriend.

But a search that evening by the sheriff's marine unit of the area and of the Rattlesnake Island area was cancelled that night due to intense winds and poor weather, the sheriff's office said.

Authorities, family members continue search for missing man

Flanagan’s friends, family and co-workers have been important partners in the search. Ward said they’ve been scouring the area, and his employer hired a private helicopter to help in the search effort.

Ward said seven or eight members of that group went over to Rattlesnake Island and searched it for Flanagan, but didn’t find him.

They did, however, find a kayak paddle they believe he used on the island’s north end on Tuesday, Ward said.

Other clues Ward said they’ve found include a flip-flop, a water bottle and a hydration backpack.

Average depth of Clear Lake is 27’, but some parts are as deep as 60’.

I wonder what the weather was like when he set out in his kayak.
