CA - Dylan Noble, 19, fatally shot by Fresno police, 25 June 2016

Shooting first and asking questions later is not protecting the public. It is as you said, selfish. The suspect was not going to start shooting innocent bystanders. He didn’t even have a gun. So he couldn’t shoot anybody. The only way an innocent bystander could have been shot in this incident was from stray bullets fired by the cops. This type of conduct does not protect the public. It only endangers the public.

Never mind.

OK, sorry. I didn't realize that the police KNEW he was unarmed. I thought it was in question because of the way he was hiding his hands. No offense intended. I do think it is possible for a person to conceal a small hand gun fairly efficiently. My husband has a concealed carry permit and I can never even tell when he has his gun on him. But like I said, I'm not particularly clever! ;)

You can’t kill people, just because you don’t know they are unarmed. Even if they are armed you still can’t kill them. Because that perfectly legal in our society.

Understood, thanks! I'm outta here!

LE was never going to be neutralized in this case. LE fired 2 shots at a clear threat - no one is bemoaning that.

It's the 2 shots after that that is the problem for some. Hopefully most. To let LE shoot continuously at a non-threat to make sure they are dead is crazy imo - the backlash to LE (that weren't even involved) is only one of the problems.

After the first 2 shots, LEOs did not 'shoot continuously' to make 'sure he was dead' imo. LEOs fired the 3rd & 4th shots because, during those ~:30 secs afterward, he continued to move his hand & arms in ways which appeared to be voluntary movement of reaching for firearm or other weapon hidden in waistband area, imo.

A person incurring 2 gunshot wounds and lying on his back may still draw gun to shoot others. Can still be a threat to LEOs & others.

In this situation, as it turned out, this man did not have firearm, but while interfacing w LEOs, his actions in the preceding few min. & during the :30 secs after being shot, indicated he had firearm or weapon. IOW, he continued to be a threat to LEOs & others; LEOs fired until threat was extinguished or neutralized, not until he was dead imo.

He Chose his path. He was warned, he said he hated his life and kept his hands behind his back and did not listen to instructions. Suicide by cop so family can sue. IMO he was 'making a statement'.

I personally don't think he said 'he hated his life', I think he said something like 'take my life', or 'are you gonna take my life'...just my opinion.
Also read or heard the chief of police here say that the 2 officers felt that DN was taunting them. One of the cops had only fired once in his career, the other officer, zero times.
So, I'd like to know which one took the final shot.

Imo, I wish they hadn't killed him.

Father of unarmed 19-year-old who was fatally shot by Fresno police files suit

“The officers never had an objectively reasonable basis to shoot Dylan Noble,” the lawsuit claims. “They failed to first use, or attempt to use, the canine at the scene. At no time did they use, or attempt to use, a Taser, OC [pepper] spray, or other non-lethal remedies. … At no time did they use, or attempt to use, anything but deadly force.”
...

“There is a pattern and practice of police officers not being properly disciplined for their actions involving use of excessive force and prior unjustified shooting of the city’s citizens,” the lawsuit claims. “As a result of this failure to address and discipline, the city of Fresno and its Police Department have fostered an environment and created a culture and belief that it is permissible to use excessive force, up to and including deadly force, against civilians without fear of repercussion, accountability or disciplinary action by the city of Fresno Police Department.”

"Before he was fatally shot by two Fresno police officers during a traffic stop in June, 19-year-old Dylan Noble was upset with his biological father coming back into his life and complaining about his low-pay construction job, according to search warrant documents in Fresno County Superior Court.
Noble also posted messages on Facebook that date to 2011 to indicate he may have have been suicidal and hated police, the documents say."
