I highly doubt it was a 4th cousin. Just because of the speed it took from the time Law enforcement made a partial match to when they had him under surveillance. Roughly 6 days. The DNA match would have to be a lot closer. I would not be surprised if it was his own daughter's dna that was matched.

I have solved connections to 4th and 5th cousins in matter of hours myself.
It isn't as hard as some think, especially if you have basic knowledge of DNA and Genealogy.
Gedmatch and the other websites have some amazing tools to help as well.

And I tend to agree in regards to his wife. She most certainly was doing everything to protect assests from the lawsuits his estate etc were under. It surprises me that JJD and his estranged wife never divorced...what with her being a divorce attorney and clearly they had a terrible oil & water relationship from all accounts.

What I've heard about DeAngelo & Huddle and their public screaming fights via neighbors and online reviews of her law practice reminds me a lot of my former in-laws. They too are an educated, upper-middle-class 70-something couple who never divorced despite vicious and constant public and private arguing and worse. Some people really get off on the drama, conflict, and strife. They'll never find another adversary who gives them the ugliness they so crave so they stay together. It's so disgusting, such an ugly way to live life, but very fitting with what we know of the Micro-Penis Killer.

I would like to see a timeline showing all the GSK/ONS/VRS cases, superimposed with JJD’s life events and those of the women/girls in his life. For example, when did Bonnie get married...does that coincide with when he moved to couples.

I have not followed this case up to now, haven’t read the books or watched the shows, but I realllly doubt that he took a pause from 1981-86 and stopped entirely after 1986. Maybe have changed his MO in the early 80’s to dispose of the body and any evidence, and the 1986 case was an outlier. I would be looking at any missing persons in the area or anywhere he traveled.

Mark Hacking's father was a Pediatrician at the time Mark murdered Lori.
He was never the same and his patient count dropped a lot.
He was part of a much larger practice so it wasn't a huge deal for him.
If he had been in private practice it's very likely it would have ended up closing.

I imagine that this perps daughters will have similar issues with maintaining their law/medical practices, unfair as it is. That association if it's made public will make it very hard for people to trust them. It's just a psychological thing, messes with your head.




I hate this. I hate that so many innocent people are charged and spend years in jail awaiting trial. I hate that innocent people are still convicted even after that. It's so infuriating. How do you NOT be resentful for the rest of your life if you spent years incarcerated while innocent? Especially those who don't get any compensation. Just released after years with nothing. It's so screwed up.

I'd forgotten that one of the daughters was a doctor. Yes, I think she'll be changing her name and moving for sure if she doesn't want to lose her career.

Regarding “pump”- there are many victims who said they heard noises (and smelled baby lotion) where he was basically masturbating immediately before the rapes. One description thought they heard a pump used- I’d thought they were referring to those old suction devices that were sold in the back of magazines, not an implant.
From his MO, it doesn’t seem anyone saw him except initially when he was name from the waist down and flaccid.
I think they were all blindfolded and basically hearing the noises that came from using a good deal of baby lotion and elbow grease.
I’m wondering if that one comment where someone imagined he was using a pump didn’t morph into the implant idea? Did they even exist in the 70’s?

Is it at all possible that he was impotent and didn't use that appendage but another? Hence the small reference?

Same here! I also discovered half-cousins on ancestry.com who have an incredibly strong match to me and to my Dad. It turns out that my great-great grandfather went on to have several wives and several children after he "disappeared" in the early 1880's.

We always called him the "mystery man" because no one knew what became of him. Thanks to DNA, he is no longer a mystery, and I've also had the pleasure of becoming acquainted with some very nice half-cousins that I never would have known existed, without DNA.

This. They started in Dec 2017, investigated a suspect in Oregon first, got a judge to rule that he give up DNA, eliminated him and a few others, then moved on to DeAngelo. Paul Holes (a chief investigator from Contra Costa county) parked outside DeAngelo's home when Holes retired in March.

That’s mostly right, but IIRC the Oregon guy was eliminated in March/April 2017. They did get a court order for his dna, but it was well before they went to GEDmatch.

And, Holes parked outside JJD’s home a few days before he retired, in late March 2018.

Honestly it could go either way. I know many in the same age range who aren’t spry and I’m not going to be judging that he’s faking or not without evidence. It isn’t a fact right now. What are facts is that he is old and he isn’t in good health. None of it really matters since jail may well shorten whatever life he has left which is good for everyone involved.

Exactly. They didn't arrest him based on GEDmatch. They used GEDmatch to find him, then matched his gathered DNA (from garbage in a public place?) to match crime scene DNA. Twice. I believe any legal attacks on this method may set precedent but not change this trial. Once they had the GEDmatch results they still had to do hours and hours of family tree research, which I assume they hired genealogists for. It's not easy work, and an expert would be needed.

LE didn’t say they got the DNA familial match 6 days ago. They said JJD’s name came to the table 6 days ago (and I’d guess a bit longer based on Hole’s mention of going by his house). They may have been building the family tree for over a year.

4th cousins - are not that hard to solve the connection if there are no adoptions or NPE (Non parental events, ie: dads not your real dad etc)

The connections aren't hard. It's the examination and elimination of potential suspects that takes time. It's easier for you to add, locate or find a 4th cousin on your tree. It's another thing to go backwards from that person, build their tree and fill in all the other branches from scratch. Not to mention how many errors there are on all the genealogy websites in peoples' trees. (everybody is related to somebody famous) Once you have an ACCURATE TREE, then you have to go one by one through all possible 3rd and 4th and even 5th cousins (which can be in different generations) until arriving at the one person whose age fits (and that can be a range!) and location. Not easy. At least for me.

Yes, by early '80's implant pumps were getting popular. Numerous victims mentioned he was not very potent, had

difficulty performing, several later victims mentioned him activating the pump to perform.
