Have they taken a moment from patting themselves on the back yet? Have any of the actual detectives who worked these cases been mentioned? Have they mentioned the accused was a cop? Have they said anything yet about how they determined he is the GSK/EAR?

I never followed these cases so I’m clueless of how they’re all tied together. Are they saying he is the “Golden State Killer”, the “East Area Rapist”, and “The Ransacker”? Is there anymore?

They got a tip that led them to the suspect, followed him, obtained some discarded DNA, and matched it to the samples found at the crime scenes. I heard one official say that.

It would be nice to mention the renewed attention McNamara's book brought forth along with the podcasts and tv shows. It is my personal opinion that it was the renewed interest (from the before mentioned media and books) in the case that likely led to "the tip". Give credit where credit is due. Just my two cents.

Well they verified he was the VR.

I thought that was nice of the FBI guy to give props to community members and the media. I think they should give credit to the straight up gumshoe work done by those who surveilled, followed, and collected evidence on Deangelo.

Sheriff now talking about how he was a former LEO. He was committing the crimes at the time he was in LE. Not sure if he was doing it while he was on duty. Will find out.

Says there was no information in the book that helped them solve the case. Ok.
