GUILTY CA - Elizabeth Sullivan, 31, San Diego, 13 Oct 2014 *Arrest*

Still following this one. There is nothing in the media, from LE or even in the Facebook account. I certainly hope LE is telling Elizabeth's family far more than what they telling us. I'm not even hearing that LE is asking for any help from the public.

[h=1]Husband arrested in Delaware for Elizabeth Sullivan’s 2014 murder in San Diego[/h]
Authorities have arrested the husband of Elizabeth Sullivan. He will now face a murder charge in the death of his wife.

According to a January 2018 press release from the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office, after identifying Elizabeth’s body, “San Diego Homicide Detectives continued their investigation and identified the suspect in Elizabeth’s murder to be her former husband, Matthew Sullivan.”

The release says authorities arrested Sullivan outside his home in Wyoming, Delaware on Wednesday morning, January 31, 2018.

“He’s been arrested in Delaware and will be extradited to San Diego to face a charge of murder,” Steve Walker, Communications Director for the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office, told Dateline in an email. “Once we have him in custody, an arraignment date will be set.”

A felony complaint obtained by Dateline NBC states Matthew allegedly murdered Elizabeth "[on] or about and between October 13, 2014 and October 14, 2014." The complaint alleges Matthew used a knife to do so.

OMG, I just heard this on the local news and had to come here to react!!! I feel like crying thinking about Elizabeth and thinking about what this is going to do to the children. I wonder if he thought he got away with it. This is a lesson for me --never give up hope for Justice.

I really don't know what to say about this one. Glad there is an arrest, but the children have lost their mother and now the father could possibly be sent away for life.

Finally!

I’m very curious to hear where her body was for two years and if the new wife was involved.

I've always been curious about that autopsy report. The way her body turned up its as if the killer had it in a freezer somewhere for two years and then put her body there just as he was leaving San Diego.

There's a video at the link below. The big questions is -- WHERE WAS ELIZABETH'S BODY KEPT FOR THE TWO YEARS? They don't think the body was in the water all that time. I remember the husband moved shortly before the remains were discovered. Seems like he must've had help.

Here's a few more news links. (I thought I heard that DNA was found, I thought on a knife, but haven't seen it in any of the news articles yet.)

“The same team has worked it for three years,” Holden said. “I think early in our investigation we assigned it to a homicide team because we felt there were some suspicious circumstances back then.

“In those cases, we always hope our suspicions are wrong and we can locate the person alive. Obviously, she wasn't located alive.”

Holden declined to say how Sullivan had died or what led police to her former husband. He said Matthew Sullivan no longer is in the Navy and had custody of the couple’s two daughters when he was arrested.

Finally, some Justice for Elizabeth.

Okay, just heard the same news report on CBS News8.
They found a knife with DNA in the attic!

What an idiot! Thank goodness for that. The details of this will surely be sordid.

Richard Kuklinski did this. There is an interesting trilogy documentary about him on HBO.
He eventually found a living as a hitman for the Genovese, Gambino and DeCavalcante crime families, becoming known as "The Iceman" for his method of freezing victims to obscure their time of death

I think we can be pretty sure he had the body stashed for a couple of years before he dumped it in the bay. I'm wondering if he had the body in the house. The body was found in the bay near to Liberty Station, where he lived. If he had believed the body could not be discovered, he would not have dumped it in the bay. The proximity of his house to where the body was found does not seem coincidental. I'm guessing when she went missing the house was searched. Because there was no "murder" and he was living there, the authorities couldn't exactly peel up carpet and look under floorboards. I wonder if she was under the slab or in the attic where the knife was found.

I know I read in at least one article that her body was found floating. After 2 years its likely there would little more than a skeleton unless something was done to preserve the body. I don't remember if the husband had another place since he was in the Navy. He could have been living on board a ship if they were separated and he was on sea duty. I've wondered about the possibility of renting a storage space and putting a freezer in there.

Refreshing my memory. He really put on the dramatic act during the initial investigation when all along he was, most likely, already with some other woman and keeping his guilt hidden like the knife in the attic. Wonder if he's still with his new wife.

Not only was the body discovered almost two years exactly from her disappearance and close to where she lived, but it was also within days of Elizabeth’s husband, Matt, moving from San Diego to Maryland with his fiancée, Kayla Turner, their new baby and Elizabeth’s two daughters.

Three Years After Saying Wife's Disappearance Was 'Killing Me,' Navy Vet Charged with Murdering Her

At points, Sullivan fought back tears as he spoke about his missing wife.

“It’s killing me. I’ve lost 25 lbs. It’s taking a toll physically and mentally,” he said at the time. “I think about her constantly, I can’t stop. The girls are my biggest concern right now. I have to keep going, try to do what I have to do for them, and keep praying.”

 Sure buddy, it took quite a toll on Elizabeth too. You probably did keep praying... that you didn't get caught.

Any links in regards to a knife with DNA? Glad there was an arrest..I think most of us thought it was her husband who did it...

Are you somewhat surprised if he used a knife? I think it changes how I see the crime. JMO - I think I imagined he strangled her in the middle of an argument, but using a knife seems more deliberate to me.

I think the news stations have to be cagey about how they reveal things before trial. I know I heard it on the local news about a knife in the attic being found, but I doubt it was printed up as such yet. Most of the news reports have only hinted that a knife was used.

Authorities have yet to reveal how they believe Elizabeth was killed, but several reports allege a knife was used.

I think it stinks that husband made it sound like she took off leaving her children and alluded that she had been going out (on him) a lot. All along he knew he had her blood on his hands. Then, those false reports of sightings made everyone think she could be walking around the neighborhood. Apparently, she had gone to see a divorce attorney, but ...

Found it in print!

Affidavit: Blood and DNA on knife link ex-Navy man to wife's murder
http://www.cbs8.com/story/37399948/...wifes-body-was-found-in-san-diego-bay-in-2016

"...Later in 2016, police found the victim's blood on the floor of her bedroom, according to court records obtained by News 8.

Investigators also found a knife -- believed to be the murder weapon -- hidden in the attic of the couple's home during a November 2017 search. The knife had the victim's blood on it, as well as DNA on the handle from both Matthew and Elizabeth Sullivan.

The discovery of the knife led to the husband's arrest, according to the records. Investigators "believe an attempt was made to clean the knife" but the victim's blood was found on the "inner workings" of the weapon, the records revealed."

I knew he killed her. I'm so glad they have found evidence to prove it!
