I wonder if the truck was simply a random truck with out of state plates he could access because it was in a public lot and unlocked? If he was on foot, and had a very small body to conceal and a short time to do so . . How far was the truck from the apartment? Could he have hidden the baby's body beneath or inside of something inside the cab of the truck belonging to some random stranger thinking the body would soon be on the road to far away in Oregon?

I wondered about the random truck idea too, but then realized almost no one, ever leaves their vehicle unlocked in a park and ride. It's certainly possible, but highly uncommon.

Mother in law (her mom) lives with them....... guess that's why there was no phone call from home.....making up the story on the fly while en route to police station?? Poor MIL must have flipped when LE is in their apartment overnight looking for clues, police dogs, detectives etc.

Yes indeed, those are Oregon plates.

When I first saw that my first thought was "who does he know from Oregon that would be parking there?" No question, one of the first things LE did was run those plates & already know who's truck that is.
Next thought was, if they don't have a car, how did he get over to the park & ride to put that precious baby inside the truck (walk, got a ride?) and how did he have access to that truck?
Next thought was, why did he go with his wife to the PD to report the baby missing when he knew for a fact she wasn't missing? Seems to me he'd be trying hard to lay low.

the rear window in this truck looks like a solid window = no slider......but truthfully let's face it locks are for honest peeps....if someone wants in there's a way.....slim jim or master key.....

I wish Grandma had been able to grab the precious baby before she went to neighbors to make the call. He must have been very aggressive with her if she left the baby there. I bet she thought he would never hurt hr because he 'loved her so much. '

So grandma found his demeanor off and not the normal one she has come to know in that household on that day. Maybe he was refusing to let her see the baby or let her into the room she was in because she was dead and he was deciding what to do about it. Perhaps they had what seemed to grandma to be an unrelated argument and she called cops to remove him. They either did not, or allowed him to leave so things could "cool down" (a common practice where I am from in DV calls). He asks to grab a bag, he hides baby's body in a bak pack or small duffle and off he goes on foot. But IF that is how things went down I cannot for the life of me figure out how grandma did not quickly realize baby was not there with her and sound the alarm. And further, how did mom and dad then reconnect when she returned from wherever she returned from?

Hey I hadn't thought of that. he left before police arrived and with baby E. I guess that grandma could have thought that baby E was just fine with her daddy even if she felt he was being an *ss to grandma.

Chances are that poor woman is a wreck tonight....replaying missed opps for rescue....

I'm so sad. I just wish I could hold all these babies who've been murdered. Raise them in a home full of love. Such senseless death.

I'm wondering if maybe it was shaken baby syndrome. Baby wouldn't stop crying. He was alone with the baby. Feeling tired and close to a relapse. And he snapped.

well that would line up with the seeming lack of visibly apparent COD. But then so would drowning, smothering, etc. Autopsy should clear that up for us. Now we wait.


I have been thinking about what the parents' story was on arriving at police station. Did they say the child had disappeared from the home while they were in it there together. Did they claim the baby was taken from somewhere on the street with dad after he left the home? Still :fence: on mom and her role in all of this mess.

ETA DUH, okay I am obviously tired. they reported her missing from the home. Wonder if mom said she was there and why no phone call to her mom who was actually AT home and could clue her in to the earlier in the evening drama?

If I hear that he stepped outside the apartment for a bit and left the ''sleeping'' baby in the apartment with Grandmother who was sleeping, I won't be surprised.....((that's been played before in a recent case trying to make the grandmother the fall guy)

He returns to apartment and all He77 breaks out.....((some would call police)) but in his case, doesn't want to wake grandmother/MIL and they tiptoe to police dept....and poor gran wakes up to K-9 and LE -- just guessing--and that keeps the alibi straight as far as WM is concerned and look poor gran is upset too so it must be true.

It was stated in the presser that she was being detained for questioning. It's possible that she's still there, maybe they're trying to sweat info out of her, kwim?

perhaps they have sent her home -- it has been 24 hours -- is it normal to let someone get some sleep when you are interviewing them ((they did use the word detained --)))
