can someone... anyone... post this? its behind a paywall for me!

I think I understand where you're coming from Kimi; each time I was pregnant people would ask if we wanted a boy and we'd always answer that we just wanted a healthy baby. Sheesh. But yeah, there are people out there who are disappointed when a baby isn't the sex that they wanted. But I don't think that applies here though I do think Ember's seizures do. Not as a disappointment - more like a nuisance.

JMO, I think MG wasn't all that thrilled to become a husband and father in the first place and like you say he did a good job of masking it. If you do the math, JG was 18 when she got pregnant and she was pregnant when they got married. We don't know enough of their history together to know how it affected him but I'm guessing JG was head over heels in love and thrilled to become a wife and mother. Him, not so much. Especially since Ember had special needs.

All speculation of course. I'd like to know more about their relationship and we probably will learn more as this all plays out. What disturbs me a lot in the meantime is this:

Matthew showed very little remorse for the disappearance of his daughter. At no time during the eight plus hours that he was with detectives did he ever inquire what was being done to find her.

That doesn't describe a proud daddy. :(

i find east of tehachapi on to northern san bernardino county (CA) to be horrifying and nasty.

Yup there are definitely third world pockets in this country. I've done volunteer work in the boonies of northern CA and was shocked. Horrifying is the right word. It's amazing to me that some actually choose to live like that (and in many cases it was choice). People can be poor, but it doesn't cost much to be clean and neat. JMO

That's why I wonder if JG knew how MG was living. I can't imagine being OK with that place.

Investigators noted that in the more than eight hours he spent with detectives, he did not ask what was being done to find her, the sheriff’s office said.
The sheriff’s office in its statement did not provide specific times for events leading up to Ember’s disappearance. Graham, 24, reported her missing from her playpen shortly before 5:30 a.m. last Thursday.

absolutely says something. if my baby who i cared for SO much was missing, i'd want investigators to do anything and everything to find her. and i'd want information about what progress was being made.

And this:

"He's done nothing to help clear his name with us at all," Kropholler shared. "I spoke with him at length and at one point he even referred to her as 'it' instead of her and that to me just shows that he just doesn't have remorse or concern like a concerned parent."

A neighbor on the Noosha Lane property recalled seeing Matthew Graham on Wednesday after he returned from Happy Stop Market.

Sara Chabino said Graham stopped to get water and had Ember in his arms. She said she did not see the time and only knows that it was before the sun went down on Wednesday.

"I get it that it looks suspicious. I'll be the first to admit it, but it's not impossible for someone to have gotten inside," she said.

It was the cousin's girlfriend.

ETA: Sunset was about 8:45 pm.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't think I'm giving him any credit. Fortunately he is being investigated so we have the "luxury" to try to look at all angles.

Here is why I think it is worthwhile to consider that he was doing something illegal in that hour that could be unrelated to Ember's disappearance. And why he is lying about his whereabouts while his daughter is missing. We already know he was involved in illicit and prescription drug activity. But the biggest reason why is the epidemic of selfishness on the part of "parents" that we see today. It's disgusting how many times we see parents put protecting themselves over their children. IF he was doing something drug related at the time and then Ember really was kidnapped later, he could have lied to protect himself, not being intelligent enough to realize it was going to bring ALL of the focus and suspicion on him. Then once he tells the lies, he is stuck with them and their consequences.

I am NOT saying I believe this. But I do try to consider all possibilities. I consider tunnel vision a great detriment in these cases.

I agree. Tunnel vision is problematic. But having been sleuthing for over 10 years on this site, certain patterns are obvious and common sense and logic are crucial. I have seen very few cases where the cops are looking the wrong way and almost none where they have failed to investigate all angles before honing in on a specific person of interest. So tunnel vision is not a risk, IMO, when it comes to LE.

And happily, the progressionals investigating this have not only much more experience and resources than we do, they also have all the knowledge we lack. So there's no detriment. When they focus it's for a significant reason.

What?? Charges about drugs dismissed?? Oh well.....it has been said his family has connections. Guess Ember will be forgotten, now.

Heck, even cops can't escape justice all the time. Look at Drew Peterson. I don't think baby Ember will be forgotten. However, they can be notoriously hard to solve since babies are so easy to dispose of. Still, there is more they can do in some regards with a suspect who is out of custody as opposed to in.

"It"? I can feel my heart breaking right this moment.

I honestly think they have a specific reason for releasing him from jail and that is so they can follow his every move . many times the murderer will revisit the deceased place of death or to the place that he or she left the body. I could totally be wrong here but its just a feeling I'm getting.. I also feel like mom knows more than she's letting on? I'm not saying she was involved in any way but I think that he panicked when they had that phone conversation because he stopped to smoke marijuana and waited 30 minutes before calling the police, that tells me that he took some time to speak with her and for them to come up with some kind of story. Imo

Oh boy. I'm feeling so sad right now.
How can this beautiful child be an "it"?:

So many people would love to have her as their own and would cherish her. She's precious. Looks so much like daddy. How can he disregard her in that way?

I agree with the first part but didn't want to say! Just in case someone's reading here.

I think they are releasing him because they cannot hold him anymore, but I am sure he will be under surveillance.
I just want this baby found. I can not even imagine this. A baby out there somewhere alone..

I think jail was a tactic otherwise they wouldn't have dropped the charges. I think he sill slip up now that he is out and mom / others and question his story. I hope they have phones and maybe his truck wired for sound. Wish mom would record him but it doesn't seem that she is in police yet.
