Imo there is nothing to suggest Erin was involved with another man.

Trying to stay positive, but this looks very problematic. I hope something breaks soon. :heartbeat:

When I hear of these young kids getting married, I really shudder. Personally it's hard to imagine being married and having kids at my age, let alone twenty years old. IMO, these younger years are for getting to know yourself, going to college and having fun. You have your whole life to be a grownup.

So I hope that maybe she was just frustrated with her situation...I've heard 29 Palms is desolate and boring...and with a baby on the way, maybe she's just feeling out of control and is somewhere relaxing and de-stressing...but after all this time I wonder.

I had the same questions about a young man in town who joined the Marines right out HS, after his 6 mo. of basic he came home and was married during a 5 day leave and then sent out on his orders. She remained home and lived with MIL and waiting for his return location to be stationed. I asked all kinds of questions…like why? why not wait? these are great kids, from fine homes, why are they getting married at 18, no honeymoon, then 2 days later he's gone for a year, she moves in with MIL? I was told there is a monetary benefit and extra pay allowances for a private 1st class marine deployed while married, and when you return you have extra $$ for housing allowances and assisted living expenses for food and things. This gave them a nest egg to collect while waiting him to do his tour. Just a thought / possible similar scenario. They are stationed in CA also. MOO as always. BTW: Most beautiful wedding pics ever…it was during the big blizzard in 2013. Heard most guests were stranded, turned memorable for them.

I have a gut feeling that someone local is involved in Erin's disappearance and it was a crime of opportunity. I've driven through Joshua Tree National Park while traveling from SoCal to Vegas and have pulled off the highway to take pictures and stretch my legs. When a car passed, they typically acknowledged us as it was a rare sight. If you're on a side road and not the main highway, car traffic is far and few between. Perhaps a nefarious passerby approached her by making small talk and then...
This is all JMO. I've gone between this theory, and well, the "obvious" in a case like this.

off base. By a side gate (there is housing right inside the side gate not sure if they lived on or off post?)

Erin and John live on post.

I know quite a few parent's around here that don't let their kids get a DL until they are 18. It's expensive to add teens on your insurance policy and it's expensive for those teen driving classes. $375 is what I had to pay for my daughter. My niece didn't get her DL until 18. IDK, she just had no interest in driving.

I watched "Disappeared" a few weeks ago about a man that went hiking and he vanished out in the desert. Everybody searched that area over and over again. Years later, he was literally found less than a mile from his camping spot. He was in some kind of crack (not sure what you call them) and it probably took some changes in the weather or water to bring his bones to the surface.

In cases like this and because I read sites like this-:gaah: I usually always suspect the husband. But at this point, I think it's just as possible some stranger came across a pretty lady by herself...out alone in the desert.

My question is why didn't they find her car sunday. He had all day sunday to look It had to be easy to find YES?

  • #668
I think its someone she knows well and spends time with.
JMO
Why would her car be left at the gate? She got in a car with someone else maybe?

  • #669
I guess it depends on If they can get rides with others.
My kids had their DL at 16 a permit at 15 for a year.
They need to drive if they want to get anywhere. (Like Work) LOL

I was hoping when I woke up this morning I would see the headlines saying she had been found and was alive. I had a hard time falling asleep last night, couldn't get her off my mind.

I understand her husband was under the impression he had to wait 24 hours, but did he not even drive towards the park to look for her, where he would have seen the car, possibly? Did he call the ranch to see if she stayed the night? Has the ranch verified that was even a possibility? If she volunteered enough to see it as a place to sleep, I would imagine the ranch would be more vocal in her search.

You would think. I go out and drive around when one of my animals goes missing.

Jumping off your post,in this particular instance, it reminds me of Susan Jacobson, missing from Roseville, California, since May 2013.
Susan's husband told LE that Susan was going shopping that morning at the Raley's shopping center near where they live. When Susan's husband
arrived back home from work that night, he did call LE to inform them Susan had not returned home, but LE was the one who found Susan's car in the Raley's parking lot. Susan's husband did not find it. The Raley's is what a couple miles from Susan's home, and the husband said that Susan said that she was going shopping there. Why didn't the husband find the car?? That just doesn't make sense to me.
IMOO.

I'm wondering if she ever made it to JTNP? And whether her car was parked there on the way to the park or the way back? National parks have ranger stations and/or entrance gates, and you have to pay admission to enter, though I'm not familiar with this park enough to know where a ranger station might be located. You might have to drive in a ways before coming to it. If so, though, possibility that she was sighted by personnel? Or even on camera?
Apologies if this has already been discussed.

I wonder if they suspect foul play because her car was on the side of the road with a flat or something. I mean, seems like something to do with the car is what put this case on another level for LE. Could've been blood or something in there too I suppose.

Maybe her car was not there on Sunday? Not sure when it was found.

Thank you for the clarification. I thought he deployed FROM 29 Palms. So he was deployed BACK from 2 years in Japan to "somewhere" (in the USA?) (29 Palms?) and then she moved from Oak Ridge Tn to 29 Palms on her own, alone. And he was there to receive her when she got there? Or he was deployed again and gone?

Most Sincerely, MoeJoey
Thank you.. I had to think about it a few minutes. What threw me was the word 'deployment'. When ex was in the military.. deployment meant out of the country to us. Going from one place stateside to another was just where we were 'stationed'.

They have been saying no signs of foul play.
