Erin's sister in law, DeeAnna Heavilin, describes the 20-year-old as sheltered and trusting. "She's the type to smile at strangers, and to not realize if something is wrong," DeeAnna said. "A lot of teenagers go through rebellion and she never did. She's always been very reserved."

DeeAnna says there is no way he [Jonathan, Erin's husband] could be involved, saying the marriage was happy. "She's so close with her mom and she's never mentioned even something minor like a fight," DeeAnna said. "Erin isn't the type to filter herself. She's an open book."

Please don't post pictures of people unless you are 100% sure it is the victim. Also, you always need a link for copyright law.

Thank you,

Thank you for the clarification. I thought he deployed FROM 29 Palms. So he was deployed BACK from 2 years in Japan to "somewhere" (in the USA?) (29 Palms?) and then she moved from Oak Ridge Tn to 29 Palms on her own, alone. And he was there to receive her when she got there? Or he was deployed again and gone?

Most Sincerely, MoeJoey

My understanding is he was there to receive her at 29 Palms and they both have been there ever since.

I understand her husband was under the impression he had to wait 24 hours, but did he not even drive towards the park to look for her, where he would have seen the car, possibly? Did he call the ranch to see if she stayed the night? Has the ranch verified that was even a possibility? If she volunteered enough to see it as a place to sleep, I would imagine the ranch would be more vocal in her search.

This is why I want to know exactly where the car was. News articles just kind of give a general area, Valle Vista likely between these two streets. I want to know WHERE. Was it RIGHT THERE at an intersection where anyone driving from the base to 29 Palms would surely see it? Or was it a ways down, where it would be less likely to be seen by the very first person who went searching for her? I was intrigued by a comment days ago from someone local who said that's a common meeting place to exchange things with someone off base - like someone wanting to buy a second hand thing or exchange something would meet there. Was the car placed there for someone to obviously see it, or pick it up and they didn't?

I'm wondering if she ever made it to JTNP? And whether her car was parked there on the way to the park or the way back? National parks have ranger stations and/or entrance gates, and you have to pay admission to enter, though I'm not familiar with this park enough to know where a ranger station might be located. You might have to drive in a ways before coming to it. If so, though, possibility that she was sighted by personnel? Or even on camera?
Apologies if this has already been discussed.

From a facebook post, supposedly the car was pointed towards base.

I stand by my theory that they should be looking into a male "friend" of the couple who may have taken an unhealthy interest in Erin. He was aware of the trip to JT and decided that he would meet up with her there, ended up hurting her there and then drove her car back to base. I do not think Erin thought he was a danger to her until it was too late. IMO but I feel very strongly that this is the case.

I am assuming they talked via cellphone at some points during the day. So if she said she was going to Joshua Tree, was there no more talking at all. Then he was calling her cell phone to find out if she got home? If she didn't answer, that should have been a red alert. If he came home to see she wasn't home, did he call her phone? Does he not know anybody he call and ask at this "ranch"? I don't know if she had a cell or if they had a home phone. It's all just so odd. Is her husband also "timid"?

I don't mean to stereotype, but their age has me wondering. People change alot in their teens / change their minds alot. Maybe one of the two wanted out, was having a side-relationship, etc. Just trying to think of possibilities.

I am leaning the same way. There is too much supervision on the base for it to be the husband. Maybe work/one of hubby's friends off base/someone where she frequented that started showing interest. It very well could even be a neighbor that said he would meet her there. It just depends on her behavior leading up to that day. If that is her in the picture on the facebook page on Spradlee's, that's a big change. JMO

Perhaps something that they found in the car has given them reason to search the desert? Ex. What if she took her new camera with her and it was found in her car with pictures of where she had been?

Interesting idea!

Very good point... IMO...

if Erin had spent the night at a ranch... The people from the ranch would probably be more visible in this case...

Maybe her car was not there on Sunday? Not sure when it was found.

Interesting thought... IMO...

could Erin's car have been moved at some time?

seems there would be evidence of an "unknown" driver, then...

Yet... If it was bought used... There would be other fingerprints, etc. in and on the car...

some thing to think about...:waitasec:

I'm not sure why people think the ranch people would be more visible. People need to remember this is primarily a military town. I'm sure many of the workers (paid and volunteers) at the ranch are military-related somehow and if the military put the word out to keep quiet most military people would respect that - even if they themselves aren't in the military.

I think some amount of "keeping quiet" is happening. I've been told the town is small, and rumors are rampant. If the flow of information is not controlled, the gaps will be filled in a random manner, and the focus will be taken off of the missing person. A lot of the current focus is on making sure the public knows an innocent guy who is not missing is innocent. I'd be more concerned with finding Erin.

My understanding is he was there to receive her at 29 Palms and they both have been there ever since.

I do not believe he was there when she arrived. Her mother stated that he was transferred to 29 Palms and then immediately deployed (not sure where?) BBM

Heavilin remarked that when John was transferred to Twentynine Palms he was also immediately deployed so Corwin had to make the move on her own.

"She actually did very, very well with it,” she said, noting that her daughter flew out to California on her own and dealt with the movers and all the other details of the move on her own.

I am confident, from the above statements, that he was not in 29 Palms when she arrived due to his deployment resulting in her living alone in 29 Palms until he returned (not sure how long that was.)

Do we have a timeline yet?
