On the Facebook page, someone with initials AM stated on the Military base they will not take a missing person report for an adult before 24 hours ..

That may not be true but the problem is when you call military police you usually speak to the desk sgt. which is usually a lcpl or cpl on duty, the problem is that the answer you get is not always consistent depending no who's working the desk on a given night.

Regarding the overnight at the ranch..since this is a horse rescue ranch, is it possible Erin has stayed overnight before helping to care for a horse ? Perhaps when she left home that morning, she told Jon that after stopping by Joshua Tree , she would be stopping by the ranch and might stay if x horse was doing poorly ? Is it possible, Erin and Jon did not normally text or call each other during the day ? I have two son in laws , one in the Navy and one in the Marines, one is Washington State and one in North Carolina, about 6 months ago, cell phone usage while on duty was forbidden and both leave their phones in their car. Maybe the same policy at Twentynine Base, so Erin and Jon were not in the habit of communicating throughout the day ?

My son is in the Navy stationed in Bremerton and they must leave their phones in the car. They also don't have cell service below the flight deck so wouldn't do any good to take it anyway.

First time posting, although I've been reading the forums for several years now. :)
What keeps coming to mind is this: JT opens at 9 AM, but she left home at 7 AM, perhaps not knowing the park hours. Is it possible she had to wait at the entrance until 9 when someone working there could let her in? If so, there is quite a bit of time to account for with her sitting alone in her car.

But is there a 24-hour rule on base?

Im not so sure about that.
I would think if its someone that frequently does not come home they might say lets wait 24 hrs but If u say my 19 yr old pregnant wife is missing u may get a different response. JMO

@escape2sc Thank you to your SIL's for their service!

Me and my family text my Marine son, who's at 29 Palms, knowing he will read and respond when he's allowed to. So far that has worked well. I would hope that even though they could not speak to each other, that Erin and her husband would text to keep each other updated.

BTW, I did ask my son about Erin and he said he was not aware of this case at all.

BBM: Well that's interesting! I would think the base would be buzzing about it? I still don't understand why they aren't asking for volunteers to distribute the flier with her picture on it. This truly is the strangest missing person case I've heard of.

That is a really excellent point. Something I hadn't thought at all about. Hmmm...

Welcome to WS!

@la2cabo (I keep forgetting to hit the reply with quote button!)

Talk about a case being tight lipped.

And thank you, to your son, for his service as well.

It seems we have a number of service men, women and families on this thread. Thank you, to all of you!

This video shows the apt building Erin lived in.

TWENTYNINE PALMS, Ca. - The search continues for missing 19-year-old Erin Corwin. She is married to a marine stationed in 29 Palms.
Her husband, 21-year-old Cpl. Jonathan Corwin confirms his wife is two months pregnant, the two have been married for about a year, but have known one another for eight years.

He says he was the one to make the first call on Sunday to report her missing.

Her sister-in-law says Corwin is thought to have been headed to Joshua Tree National Park when she went missing.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's department confirms they found Corwin's car in 29 Palms but have not disclosed the location in order to "preserve any evidence found".

The sheriff's aviation team has conducted fly-overs around 29 Palms and more than 30 search and rescue volunteers helped search for Corwin Wednesday.

Meantime, the woman's family has come to the area and is asking for the public's help locating Corwin.

She is described as 19 years old, 5'2", 120 pounds with light brown hair.

Detectives say Corwin's husband was the last person to see her Saturday morning on the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center.

The admin of the Locate Erin FB page just stated (in response to someone's post on the page) that they have reached out to Texas Equusearch asking for help.

This is a misconception. The park is always open, per the park website: http://www.nps.gov/jotr/faqs.htm. To quote the FAQs: What time does the park close? The park is always open and may be visited anytime of year. Visitor center hours vary.

Others with knowledge of the park have stated in this thread that park rangers collect fees starting at about 8 am (or 9) at entry ways to the park, but otherwise there is a honor system to enter. The state parks where I live operate this way...they are open from dawn till dusk, but rangers only man entry roads at set hours starting at 9 or later, and if you show up before they arrive, you put your payment into a lock box at the entry. I don't think there are gates at the roads leading into JT that are closed at park closing and opened at 9, and it sounds as though anyone could enter at any time for early morning/late evening driving and hiking etc.

So if Erin's husband was the last person to see her....where is the clothing description? Unless he left before she did, and she was still in her pajamas?

And about the neighbor who posted on facebook that she was up till 1am. That doesn't account for after 1am to the time Erin's car left base.

Butting in here because I'm about to throw my computer out the window. Is the forum running slowly?
I read most of yesterday's post last night but gave up 'thanking' due to having to refresh every time I did.
Now it is taking a full minute, at least, for a page to load. Am I the only one having problems?

On the subject of the case, I've never heard LE speak out this way (in civilian speak) before. As JeannaT said, "oh Wow"!

Now back to trying to catch up.

What do they mean by this?

"The San Bernardino County Sheriff's department confirms they found Corwin's car in 29 Palms but have not disclosed the location in order to "preserve any evidence found".

Surely LE has the car and they've looked over the area it was found, so what except the location do they have to preserve??

You're not the only one having problems today! Same here, pages take forever to load, and the "thank's" button barely working. I was wondering if anyone else was having problems too!

This might have been an earlier report, I can't find the date it was posted on the website.
