As I said, I may have too much faith in forensic science, but I am having trouble believing pregnancy could not be confirmed fairly quickly when murder is involved, but JMO.

But I still would not have told anyone at that stage about an affair, that is just me, but very glad Erin had someone close enough to her to confide in, as it likely will help convict her killer to a very large extent. And at times like this, I am happy texting, etc exists.

The part that I wonder about is the time lapse from death until now. I know when you have a miscarriage at an early stage, all traces of pregnancy hormones, etc. are usually out of your body within a month. I would also assume that when the mother passes away, a miscarriage occurs. At an early stage, I wonder if the baby would be absorbed in the body over the time between death and when she was found. I also wonder if hormones would dissipate as they do in a normal miscarriage, after death.

Why would CL have been afraid that NL would take his child away if she found out about an affair (with/without a resulting pregnancy)? Having an affair is not a reason for a court to refuse a parent liberal visitation rights with children after a divorce.

But she can severely limited his contact with them. And in some states the custodial parent can move out of state with the children regardless of the fathers' wishes.

I think the whole young generation looks at things like affairs and having babies out of wedlock way differently than I do.

Exactly. How do you converse with someone knowing you are going to kill them? How do you get up in the morning with the thought that this is the day? I just cannot fathom that. I don't even want to think about how he did it because it quite frankly makes me physically ill.

Some people are just really lackadaisical about birth control. It shocks me, but they are. I can't tell you the number of times I have argued with friends about the fact that unless you're monogamous, someone ought to be wrapping that rascal, for both birth control AND disease prevention reasons. Some people just refuse to use condoms, they say it lessens the experience or the mood. Personally, I think STIs and toddlers likely lessen the mood more, but what do I know.

Or maybe the condom just broke. Such things happen. And it could explain why she told Jon and then perhaps had a chance to think about it and realized that maybe it wasn't his.

Personally, I would have been done with him as well. However, I'm an extremely independent person and I know I can take care of myself and my child if I need to. We need to remember he is the father of their child and from what we know, the primary bread winner. Maybe she really isn't the strong one that she kind of portrays. She may wear the pants in the family but is not a very secure, independent person. Maybe she was worried about raising their child on her own and being able to financially support them. Or maybe she loooooves him. Eeew - I just threw up in my mouth a little bit. Sorry.

Or maybe she is guilty too....Just speculating....opinion only.

I don't think the texts were made public other than she thought CL MIGHT be the father. Could be a one time thing that she realized afterward was a fertile time. In which case she would let him know that there was that possibility.

Very unlikely it was a one time thing since the affair was going on, then when JC found out and thought it had ended (and he was wanting to work things out with/forgive EC) only for him to find out it started up again/was still going on.

I don't know the laws in all states, but I do know that an adultery accusation has nothing to do with custody or visitation where I live. As a matter of fact, if NL had filed for divorce, it's very likely they would have shared custody of their child...or if CL had pushed it, he might have gotten custody himself. He was just honorably discharged from the Marine Corps.

Did anyone else watch CL's Arraignment Video on You Tube in Anchorage, Alaska? CA set "NO BAIL". AK set "$2MM BAIL." NL was chewing gum. There was a hint of fear and questioning in CL's eyes (not much). JMO
