I think it is possible CL told her he could not leave his wife until after he got out of the marines and moved his wife, daughter and all his belongings to Alaska and EC told her husband about the pregnancy simply because she could not hide it any longer or would not be able to hide it till CL got out.I think it is also possible EC convinced her husband it was his not so he would raise the kid but as a way of her buying time till she could leave him for CL.

I have thought the same thing.

bbm.....

The arrest warrant said that the head stamp on .22 caliber fired cartridge casings found at the scene were consistent with the head stamps on .22 caliber casings recovered from Lee's vehicle and his residence. I can't remember anything that said the casings found in the vehicle and at his residence were spent. It could be just the way it was reported, but this is something I've wondered about for awhile. If anyone knows, please correct me. TIA

Casings refer to the outer part of the bullet. It's where the gunpowder goes to project the bullet which is on top. When the hammer hits the bottom of the casing, it causes the spark to ignite the gunpowder and force the bullet from the casing. The markings matched up to the "head stamp" or marking on the bottom of the casings to each other, of the ones found at the mine, in the Jeep and at the home. You can't get those "head stamps" without the bullet having been fired and leaving that mark on the bottom of the casing.

I thought the head stamps are the markings that are on each casing that are made by the manufacturer. Call me stupid.

My husband and I are extremely fair/pale skinned with green eyes and have two children. My daughter is has blue eyes and fair, fair skin. Her brother has dark skin and dark, dark eyes. They look nothing alike.
I was trying to reply to Katydid's post. Sorry it didn't copy.

I know the last time I brought up Erin's baby's looks after it's born and who it could favor, lots of posts came up about not everyone in the same family looking alike and having the same colorings and features. My two kids are opposite. Son has dark hair, blue eyes, olive skin and resembles me. Daughter has light hair, green eyes, fair skin and resembles me, yet they look nothing like each other. No one would know they were full brother and sister. Neither look like their father except daughter has Dad's nose.

Jmo it might be a little different in a case where infidelity is known to have happened and the husband is well-acquainted with the other man's appearance. That could prompt a paternity test, imo.

Finally looked up "rebar". Duh! Couldn't figure out how rebar and tires went together. Thought rebar was on the tires or something. They are independent items. So where does/did the rebar come from? I mean, why would someone have rebar (a steel reinforcing rod used in concrete) to begin with?

I'm catching up, so forgive me if this is a repeat, but probably to be sold as crap. Lots of people collect scrap metal and turn it in for extra money.

You bring up an excellent point. Technically the head stamp is the manufacturer's mark in the metal. I think (at least I hope) when stating "head stamp" the report was erroneously referring to the unique Firing Pin Impressions that are made when the casing is struck in the mechanism of the gun causing the powder to ignite and propel the bullet. If they don't even have FPI's then I really don't see how they could make a case against Chris.

Wasn't Erin adopted? Child wouldn't have to look like EC or JC necessarily.

This crime seems pretty vicious for just a utilitarian killing. Trying to get the other woman off of your wife's mind.

What I also can't figure out is, where are the bullets? There's multiple casings, in the mine and in the car, casings that were fired from a .22 rifle right. I don't mean the ten .40s, because the report also said they matched the head stamp on casings in the mine to casings from the car that were fired from the same weapon. Where are all of the bullets that came out of those casings? They match the rebar, the tire tread, the casings, but no match on the bullets, not even on the metal composition. So they don't have 'em.

Could he have removed them from her body? Why even do that, if he's confident enough that she'll never be found. Confident enough to drop the casings, the rebar, the tires, but he takes all the bullets with him? Why also, did he only drop half the casings. Why did he leave some in the car for them to match.......

The thought process here is SO out of whack.

ITA. This has me wondering also. At this time it makes no sense. It could be he may have been a little freaked out so what little brain he has wasn't working @ 100%, but I agree, it is a little strange. Hopefully it will all come out at trial.

Your theory is way to complicated and would require the cooperation of too many things and people. I'm not biting. Sorry.

Well I think that Nichole would have access to all of the same things that Chris needed to pull this off. If some can believe that Nichole had enough control over Chris to get him to do this, it's not a stretch to think she could trick him into asking someone about body disposal on a dare. Nichole is the one who whispered incriminating details to the County Foghorn, for God's Sake!!

The person that killed Erin had to hate her enough to kill her in such a violent manner, I don't think Chris would ever have killed Erin out of hate. Maybe necessity, but this isn't a necessity crime. Not the way they're portraying it, with the burning and the "details" forthcoming.

The perp took the bullets but buried the casings? but not all the casings? Left tire tracks that matched the Jeep but no incriminating physical evidence on their clothes or at either residence? Used their own home computer to search how to dump the body, but disabled all the cell phones so they couldn't be tracked? If this was Chris it's almost as if he were trying to frame himself. Isn't it?

They arrived at the Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms in late 2013. Erin got a job, again at Tractor Supply Co., in Yucca Valley in January, but left in March for personal reasons, said assistant manager Darin Sanden.

I'm starting to wonder about IM then. Maybe she doesn't know more than she wants people to know. <------playing a little Devil's Advocate. Maybe she's really losing it because she definitely said Erin never started work at Tractor Supply.

To my knowledge, a head stamp is the marking on the bottom (some say "back") of the bullet. Whether fired or not, they would have the same markings. Could be wrong.

Huh? Took the bullets? Where did that come from? We really have to be careful with posting things as fact when we simply don't have all of the information. (Like way back before LE found Erin and we didn't know much of anything so some assumed that LE were bumbling idiots who were searching in the completely wrong area....come to find out that wasn't true. Or that LE let CL go and CL would surely skip town without being arrested, etc.) We don't know if there were bullets in Erin's body or if there was evidence on clothing or if he used a home computer to search how to dump a body, or if his phone was disabled.

We don't even know if Erin was shot, as method of death...

Is there a source that they found bullets on the scene? The incriminating evidence that they had so far was listed in the arrest affidavit, including the computer searches. And her phone WAS disabled according to the sheriff, um probable cause statement "sometime after Erin left with Lee, her phone was de-activated(turned off)". http://www.documentcloud.org/documents/1225468-1765-001.html

Let's talk about the current theory in those terms then:

WHAT MIGHT HAVE GONE WRONG IF CHRIS WAS THE KILLER:

-Erin gets major morning sickness(I love HIMYM), not up for celebrating
-Jon finds period tracker early, big fight, Erin can't go
-Nichole sick, can't take care of daughter, Chris can't go
-Lore surprises Erin with early visit, Erin can't go
-Food poisoning, comrade's bad tacos mean Chris called for duty
-TN friend tells Jon about continuing affair, big fight, Erin can't go
-Drunk marine buddy pulls prank. Pees in Jeep gas tank. Chris def can't go
-Bad paperwork, no ammo, training cancelled and Jon wants to go with Erin to JT
-Big thunderstorms, fake hunting trip story out the window, Erin won't go
-Chris hung over from party, can't make it today, too sick.
-When Chris asks guys to go hunting with him, they actually accept this time.
-Wildfire spreads south of JT, Rangers close park for smoke, Erin's alibi caput.
-Chris' 17 year old, heavily used vehicle breaks down at some point during the day.
-Improperly cleaned gun jams, Erin kicks him in the nuts and runs away.
-Erin freaks out because they're not going where he said they were going. (suspicious, or too hot, etc.)
-Erin plans her own surprise for their outing, won't go hunting.
-Low flying plane sees Chris and Erin and Jeep where they shouldn't be. Chris calls it off.
-Chris stumbles carrying unconscious Erin up steep incline on way to mine, breaks leg, must call 911
-Lost gold seekers come across Chris where he shouldn't be, Chris arrested.

Feel Free To Add More Of Your Own.

As you can see, all plans require lots of cooperation. Some plans succeed despite the odds. Unfortunately, someone's plan worked, and who's it was remains to be seen.
