Ok I really don't want to get into a whole pro-choice/pro-life abortion debate, and I realize it may not be possible to discuss this without going 'there' - in which case I'll just drop it - but how do you charge one person for murder of a (for example) 6 week old fetus and yet not charge another (a doctor performing an abortion) for the same thing? When the baby's at 7 or 8 months and could live outside the womb, has a nursery, maybe even a name, etc. I understand it but when it's only a few weeks, barely confirmed (if at all, depends on which rumors you believe), and not even everyone knows she's pregnant yet? Can it be considered murder solely because she wanted the baby?

Maybe because the mother's "right to choose" was violated? IDK.

Because he's arrogant and cocky and he thinks he's smarter than the rest of us when in fact he's as dumb as a door knob. His arrogance and ego will be his ultimate demise, in my opinion.

I'm kinda wondering if it's maybe NL who is all of the above and she was able to manipulate CL because he IS dumber than a door knob?

My bad, I thought the "no alibi" statement from Nichole was Sunday. I was wrong, she was talking about Saturday.

Like the rest of you though, I think what she chose to address and tell Megli is important. It speaks to state of mind and guilty knowledge, MOO. I wonder if that "missed" thing was the .22? Would the timing between telling Megli that and actually serving the warrant and getting the gun from the closet be correct?

I wonder what was in the black duffel bag (Attachment 57604, page 9,#202 this thread) that was so important that CL had to rush it into the house/cabin @ the ranch. There has been no further mention of it.

I have a feeling that NL did everything except, perhaps, pull the trigger. And if we find out that Erin did suffer then I'll start believing that NL was present when the murder took place.

And I don't remember who here commented that Chris looks like Scott Peterson but I agree! He looks like a stockier and less attractive Scott.

I noted your response upstream to the question of filing an additional murder charge, and the age you believed the baby had to be to qualify. Please see below.

I am not sure why he quoted 4-6 weeks when the state law is 7-8 weeks (fetus stage vs embryonic stage). If anyone can find updated case law, it would be appreciated but the case law that is currently available states that it is 7-8 weeks in California. People v. Davis: California's Murder Statute and the Requirement of Viability for Fetal Murder.

I think IM gave the date as to CL having no alibi on 9-29 was a misquote. I'm pretty sure she meant the 28th (sat)
Because later she said The Lee's WERE at the ranch together on Sunday.

I know I saw her original interview about if ONLY the 2 friends that were supposed to go with him but didn't, he would have an alibi. She even named the two friends. But I can't find it anywhere. I wonder if LE has had them taken down for evidence She even said something to the effect that can you imagine how poor Nichole felt when she saw LE at the ranch, when her and Chris drove up!

For some reason I assumed it was the Sunday too. Going to have to go back and look at the PC statement to see why I thought that. I think you are correct about the gun being what they missed. Wasn't it hidden in a closet and in a daily mail article (I'll look for the link) wasn't it said IM didn't know it was there and it was in the main house not the bunk house they were staying in.

This line of thinking stresses me out a bit. If CL murdered Erin Corwin, he is responsible for the act of murder; I hate the thought of letting him off the hook emotionally because we think he is so dumb he can't possible have killed someone without someone "making him" do it. Clearly, his wife didn't have enough control over him to keep him from straying in the first place. I think he is a cold blooded .

(sorry, I'm not stressed at you!! Just at any line of thinking that removes any blame from him whatsoever)

Good point! From all appearances she does seems to be a rather controlling and manipulative person. I absolutely believe she is involved in the cover up, at the very least. I think she will be arrested for her part in the death and/or cover up, it's just a matter of time.

When I re-read the warrants that were "leaked" it is clear to me (MOO) that the "missed item" in the garage was the potato gun.

I don't think for one minute that NL made CL do anything, however, I do think she helped prod him along. As I said earlier, I'm more inclined to think that she helped in the cover up after CL did what he did.

She was quoted as saying that CL didn't have an alibi for the 29th however I think that they meant the 28th, not the 29th (didn't IM state they were at the Rescue on the 29th?)

Also, IM stated NL was at home with her child on the 28th. Of course, I take that with a boulder size grain of salt!

MOO Elementary School is back in session in Anchorage, my guess is NL is in AK tending to her duties as a mother.

It really hurts to see him. Gosh, Chris. Erin, that poor, naïve girl trusted you and you betrayed her in the worst way possible. Was it worth it?!

If I were in his place Erin's last smile, Erin's last kiss, Erin's last words, her last glance...all of it would haunt me for the rest of my days.

I just had a thought. In addition to criminal court I think the Lee's should have to face consequences in civil court as well. If I were Jon I would go after them in civil court. I know they probably don't have a dime right now but there is a very good possibility that there is going to be money made off this tragedy (book, movie, magazine articles, etc.) and I don't think the Lee's are entitled to one penny. I'm not sure how the law works with regard to CL making money if he's convicted, however, if NL isn't convicted of anything then she might make money on it somehow and because they are married her money then becomes CL's money. Also, I think they can be jointly sued in civil court because they are married. Where's our resident attorney when we need one? Ugh.

Easy~ Nichole gave us the answers; Chris had no alibi for Sunday and he couldn't keep his stories straight.

Speaking of her worry about Sunday. Erin disappeared Saturday, surely all that happened could have been easily accomplished that very day.
Is the truth leaking out in that statement? Guess we'll have to wait until September 16th to get an answer.

I will be shocked if the preliminary hearing is held in September. I think Sept. 16 is only a readiness conference, or "pre-preliminary hearing" as written in the minutes. It is very rare that a preliminary hearing will go that quickly, unless the defense attorney feels there is a reason to rush the case to trial before more evidence can be gathered. That was the strategy they used in the David Westerfield death penalty case. Didn't work too well for him, though. The defendant can also waive his preliminary hearing if he wants.

Well, I think earlier on he told the police he was looking for tires, and he also said he was hunting that day. The tire excuse was a dumb one since tires were found in the mine with Erin.

He did so many dumb things....disposing of her where he told LE he was that day, which is adjacent to where she told her husband she would be that day. Plus, he brought his cell phone with him?!?! Not to mention the rebar and bullet casing and searches on his computer. It's almost as though he were begging to get caught. Did he solicit advice from a friend on how to dispose of a body and then do the exact opposite? :waitasec:

I worry how much of this will even make it before a jury? Call me paranoid, but after the Casey Anthony case, I just never assume anything anymore.
