It would be in everyone's interest if Lee begs for a plea deal as he could very well receive the death penalty for luring and murdering a young, pregnant girl. I hope his family thinks long and hard about this especially as they have a young daughter. Take a plea and go quietly into the night, Lee.

Personally, I'd like to see him sit on death row for many years to come. DR inmates have a lot fewer privileges while they are filing their many appeals and ultimately most death sentences end up being commuted to life without parole but it makes the inmates time behind bars just a little more hellish. I think the CA prison system already affords too many privileges so death row would be too good for CL, in my humble opinion.

I do agree with you that it would be in their child's best interest if he took a plea, however, since he didn't care how his actions would affect his family I'm having a difficult time mustering up much sympathy for that side of the fence. It's one of the many consequences one faces when one chooses to end the life of a 19 year old (possibly pregnant) young girl. Remember, Erin's family will no longer get to watch her grow and become a mother and then a grandmother, etc. CL took all of her future endeavors, hopes and dreams from her. Death is too good for him.

Oh, I have no sympathy for him at all. Zero. I just assumed (perhaps wrongly) that he would have to confess to the crime in order to obtain a plea deal. A confession might help Erin's family a little bit. He deserves LWOP, at the very least.

If I am reading this correctly, it looks like the prosecutor is the one asking for the delay?
Maybe with SO MUCH EVIDENCE the prosecutor is hoping that CL will just plead guilty to avoid a trial? I hope he does plead guilty. For Erin's families sake. They need time to just grieve. Putting them though a long drawn out trial would be so emotional for them, having to relive that horrendous day over and over. MOO~

The prosecutor declined to comment further following the hearing, which was attended by Lee's family, including his wife, Nichole. They also declined to comment to the media.

Lee, who sat silently during the brief hearing in a green jumpsuit, was extradited from Alaska last month and pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree murder.

Now THAT is a document dump! SMH. Prosecutors put in front of him the evidence so we don't have to hear the details? I dunno... I still dunno as have never been in the shoes of the family. Would they want to hear all the details of the pain...or settle (don't take that word wrong please) to put him away to not hurt others and take DP off the table.

I was wondering if CL's attorney even knew they were going to reschedule? I ask, because it seems strange Nichole and any other members of CL's family would have made the trip knowing it would just be delayed? It does cost to come here from Alaska. Unless maybe IM is putting them up in the bunkhouse?

Also, it doesn't mention any of Erin's family there. So maybe they did know it was going to be delayed?

As to the buying time thing: that's more time he gets to spend behind bars. So I'm hoping it's a good sign. Maybe he needs more time to come-up with a believable defense?

Very interesting tactic by the prosecutors, to wait for the last minute. Wonder why?
Part of me goes back to wondering about NL's involvement, if any, and whether they are trying to work out whether she will testify against him (and, if so, push hard for him to change his plea).

I imagine EC's family might accept a plea deal over a trial, given their willingness so far to let LE do the work. I know if I were in their shoes, I could not bear to hear all the details and to hear CL try to weasel his way out of it.

I'm under the impression that it was either the defense that asked for a continuance or it was by mutual agreement so that the defense could have the necessary time to review the 1400+ pages of evidence.

Try Alaska Airlines for rates. We flew them from Oakland, CA to Seattle and back. Wasn't horrible prices.

I know CA has the death penalty, but do many executions take place? I'm in the UK and I know Texas and Georgia tend to execute but couldn't remember if CA just keeps prisoners on death row or if they actually execute prisoners.
