GRRR Every time I try and hit the thank you button, I get a yellow triangle with a exclamation mark that says something about a message from the webpage at the top. I can ONLY thank someone IF I refresh the page ~ but that gets old real fast!

Is anyone else having this problem???

Yes! It does get old....and many posts have been skipped because of it. I hate refreshing the page because I've even had trouble re-loading it.

EC disappeared on 6-28, on 7-1 (after midnite on 6-30) LE spoke to NL asking about firearms, at which time NL told them a 22 was in the closet. LE issued a seach warrant, the 22 was not found.

After the seach warrant LE spoke to NL again about the firearm, it was then NL told them CL had taken the 22 to the Horse rescue.

LE took the 22 from the Horse rescue on 7-3.

Where does the 2 months come in?

On 070314, Lee's Jeep Cherokee was processed for evidence by the Sheriff" Scientifc Investigations Division
(SID). The vehicle was towed to SID for processing during the service of the search warrant at Lee's residence
on 070114. SID located ten (10) .40 caliber fired cartridge casings in the vehicle. No .40 caliber firrearm was
located during any of the previous searches.

On 070114.. Homicide Detectives Spoke to Lee and his wife Nicole. Nicole was asked about firearms owned by
Lee. Nicole told detectives the firearms were kept inside their home in a closet. Nicole described one of the
firearms as a .22 caliber rifle.

After the search warrant. Nicole was interviewed again about the whereabouts of the .22 caliber rifle she said
was in her residence. During this interview she told detectives Lee took the rifle from his Jeep Cherokee and
took it to the ranch?.

The ranch was determined to be located at 733 Geronimo Trail in Yucca Valley.
Detectives wot a accompanied by Nicole to this location. Nicole spoke with. Isabella Megli, (Megli is the owner
of 733 Geronimo Trail and 788 Geronimo Trail) about being there to get a rifle. .lsabella then consented for
detectives to enter and retrieve the rifle from a closet in the back of the residence.

No, .22 and .40 are not the same, the .40 is larger and does far more damage.

In addition, .22-caliber fired casings and rebar were recovered from the scene where the body of 19-year-old Erin Corwin was found late Saturday in an abandoned mine shaft. The head stamp from the casings matched those on casings found in Lee's vehicle and home, the document said.

If LE was going on the premise that EC and CL were going hunting, I'm going to go out on a limb and say the only things "in season" were dove and rabbit in June. You'd use a .22. If you used a .40, there wouldn't be much left of a dove and not much more of a rabbit. EC's friend in Tennessee gave the "heads up" to LE that the trip to JT was a hunting trip, among other things.

It still doesn't make sense to me. Even if there was never going to be a body found, then again, why does she specifically say CL took it out of his Jeep? That is the detail that bothers me the most.

I just think it is weird that she specified that it was removed from CL's Jeep. Unless...perhaps she already knew that LE found .22 bullets in the jeep? Maybe they told her that when pressing her??

I guess they found both .22 and .40's in the Jeep, just didn't mention the .22 in the SPC from 7-3.

Duh me, I remember reading that and wondered why it wasn't in the SPC.

I am new to the state of California,but in my home state you cannot keep a weapon in your car. If you are going hunting or shooting the ammo must be kept separate from the weapon during transport. Anybody know the law in CA before I research it?

Because a .22 was registered both in the Cali registration base AND the military (thanks, Seajay!) to CL and/or NL. NL couldn't deny they owned it, and if CL WAS hunting, he'd be in the Jeep and have to take it out of there afterwards for legal reasons.
In California, you can not have a loaded weapon in your vehicle (unless you have a CCW): the weapon has to be secured in a case, and the ammo has to be separate.

The closer you stick to the truth, the less likely you'll get your lies mixed up. Were CL and NL sticking to a script? Quite possibly if NL told IM that CL couldn't keep his lies straight.

Well..considering the circumstances, they weren't planning on bringing the animals home to eat them with their respective families. So, your post brings up a good point about "hunting" (out of season, two hours away and in 100+ degree heat in the middle of the day). LE probably knew as soon as they heard the word "hunting" that something else was going on. I don't think Erin thought much about it, or perhaps she thought they were target shooting in the hills.

Here's something else to throw in the mix:

I know MANY peeps who target shoot at tires, the slugs usually stay in the tread or sidewalls, with radials even more so. If the bullet passes through one side, it's slowed down enough that it won't go completely through the other side of the tire.

A "criminal" never volunteers information unless it's to totally take LE off on a different track. An "innocent" person DOES.
