Actually when I wrote that I did not think he was involved which made it all the more "bizarre" that he never tried to call him.Now I am not so sure.You have these two ghouls talking about hiding dead bodies to the point where they are talking about security cameras and taking notes.He did see and talk to Lee the morning of the murder.After not calling him from the park he is calling and texting him at 2PM which would most likely put Lee's phone in an innocent location. Seams he has at least enough involvement to want to know where he was between 7am to 2pm.

Unfortunately, Hollywood has given the impression that suffocation/strangulation takes just seconds. Manual strangulation can take up to 7 minutes.

The horrific nature of this goes beyond the pale. I hope CL receives the death penalty, but that doesn't make it happen in California.

This was all such an unnecessary ending. CL could have just left to Alaska. It just makes you wonder how much NL knew or may have even participated in this situation. I just get the impression that she gave CL an ultimatum. Am I off base by thinking NL "wore the pants", so to speak?

Since we don't know everyone in the investigation I don't know the answer to that question.

It will be interesting to see how the judge rules on the admissibility of these messages.Normally her friend would not be able to testify on what EC told her Lee had said.That would be hearsay.Her friend would have to actually hear lee say these things.In this case though you have the actual messages from EC who did hear Lee say these things.

I think screenshots are generally not allowed as evidence in court. (Not sure if that is limited to federal courts or if it was a US Supreme Court ruling.) But that is not the case here. Erin's friend still has the actual messages saved.

How would a letter written and mailed by Erin be treated?

There is so much more evidence that has not been presented yet. They presented just enough for the judge to decide if there was enough to go to jury trial. I believe as of the December hearing the DA's office had given Chris's attorney over 1700 pages of evidence. I believe we only heard a fraction of what they have

The text messages can be subpoenaed from the cell carrier. Once a text is sent, it's on the carrier's server. Hand written letters would have to be authenticated by a forensic handwriting specialist if there was a question as to it's originator.

If I were Erin's family, I would have the utmost confidence in investigators, also. They truly left no stone unturned in this investigation.

"Hurtado also testified that a friend of the Lees said that he and Lee had gone exploring in the desert past the Twentynine Palms airport. The detectives recovered photos of the sites they went to from the friend’s phone. A cave expert from Twentynine Palms saw the photos August 6 and said they were taken near the Rose of Peru mine complex, which is where Corwin’s body was recovered 10 days later."

I can't say enough good things about San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department and their handling of this case. They did an absolutely amazing job and thank goodness it appears as though Erin is going to get the justice she rightfully deserves. She was a young, naive woman that made a mistake. She shouldn't have had to pay for that dumb mistake with her young life.

I have every confidence that the same law enforcement agency is going to kick the same kind of butt on the McStay case and also get them the justice they too deserve.

Ugh! That made me sick to my stomach. I don't know how the family and friends are going to be able to listen to all the ugly details if it goes to trial. Just know that every single one of us will be there with you in spirit every step of the way.

Truth ~ I saved a bunch of the news articles from last year because I knew they would come in handy once this went to trial. I remember the police for some reason missed the call or wasn't given the message about the red car. The news stations picked it up first, and I'm sure they were all banging on this guys door.

I totally believe him, and I do think this red car will come into the trial, in a big way. I wish this information had not been public.

His public reactions have been far better than mine would have been. I would be endlessly cycling through rage, guilt, jealousy, grief, etc. (Which would be pointless, but that's just how I am. I think.)

I don't know what the status is about the man with the red car. I'm pretty sure none of these cars are involved. This is just a random picture of housing on the base. It isn't the housing they lived in.

I'm very sorry to say this, but the evidence looks far from convincing to me. If he's guilty, I hope he's convicted but I am really not so sure any more.

Was this alleged garrote found around her neck or just down in the shaft with her body?
And using a homemade torch to blow up a propane tank? Sounds sketchy to me. He had a gun. Fire a bullet into it. Boom.

I think the defense can do a lot with the evidence presented so far.

This is terrible. I apologize but it just does not look good to me right now.

Maybe he fired several bullets and missed...and there was no "boom". Maybe that's why detectives said they found bullet casings and folks assumed she was shot. Not sketchy at all to me. CL sounds like a blow hard...a wanna be.....a braggart....a failure in life. I wish he had failed to kill Erin.

Just from the little bit of evidence we know about, there is no way IMO that CL will ever spend even one day of his life a free man. How in the world would an attorney even begin to try and explain away the matching evidence found both inside the mine and inside his own car? Someone planted it there? In Alaska? When Erin was clearly going to meet CL (and only CL) to spend the day with him? And then he lied about knowing her? For how smart he thinks he is....he really is quite stupid!
