Was Lee asked about the sprite bottle, or the tires or tank he borrowed? Any other questioning about the evidence?
He says he was also distraught because he was never deployed...pffft

The more I think about it, I am very surprised Lee confessed. And midway through his trial?! I don't have statistics, but man, I feel like you never hear that happening.
What happened?!!? Where, why, did this confession come from? It happened so quickly I don't think I had a moment to digest it. The questions are starting to form now for me. The psychology of it all. Does he actually have a conscience? What is the motivation behind the confession? Is he mentally unstable? So many questions!
Usually anyone is barred from having a proper defense/excuse when they are caught every which way of a malice and ruthless murder.
But not many will try and bring their own little daughter into the mix for a bs explanation of why.
So your client took the cowards way out by trying to bring his child into the fold.
But like you said. What else was he suppose to do?
Answer: Man up or at least leave his baby girl out of it.
I'm just glad that the lawyers decided to close. Jmo
I would love to hear Nichole's interview tapes. Part of me feels she must have contributed to this and then there's a stronger part of me now that feels bad that she was thrown into this. Without knowing her it is so hard to judge. Is she the mean spirited, nasty person, possible co-conspiritor that she's been made out to be or a victim herself?
I did have a thought...just because Chris said Nichole suspected the daughter was being abused by Erin months back does not make that a true statement! It's possible that conversation never even happened. I can't imagine a mother suspecting child abuse after supposedly seeing shades of it wouldn't immediately seize any and all contact if not confront Erin with it. So either that bath tub conversation never happened or it was played up for Chris's lie or delusional state of mind.
So if we look at that aspect of it... If Erin was the child's caregiver and Nichole saw what she thought was something questionable, of course the babysitter would be a first thought and a conversation with her husband. That would actually be a normal and understandable conversation for parents to have!! It certainly does not mean that anything happened but I would question a parent more if they didn't run down a list of people. If that conversation did happen it didn't have to be Nichole yelling and screaming that Erin absolutely hurt her child. It could have been a simple, I wonder if she wiped too hard normal question. (sorry I don't know how to write that)
Is Chris delusional? Is he mentally unstable that he wasn't able to separate reality from imagination? Was he schizophrenic that he slipped in and out of liking and hating Erin at the same time? Maybe Nichole realized the bath water was too hot or an explainable reason and was able to move on hence why the child wasn't taken to the doctor. But Chris, if he does have a mental illness, wasn't able to let it go? Maybe he even rekindled with Erin to set her up from that point on due to his hatred as he described?
Sorry, I'm just thinking out loud here. Trying to wrap my head around all this and make some sort of sense out of it all.
No I don't think any abuse suspicions ever were raised until trial and it's all baloney to me. I think CL and his team knew they were up a creek without a paddle and decided to pull a sympathy card in hopes of a lesser sentence. So some pure IDIOT came up with the plan to attempt to paint him as a loving father who admittedly killed a suspected abuser of his child, which is all a crock of poopoo. I don't think he has a conscience whatsoever. He killed Erin cold blooded without a second thought, the girl he "loved", who could have been carrying his baby. Nope no conscious at all. I'm sure he has regrets now that his life is behind bars but that would be only reason why. I think it's highly possible he was on a wild train ride given his convos with friends prior and if sweet Erin had not attached to his path it would have been someone else and he would have continued on that path until eventually caught.I would love to hear Nichole's interview tapes. I still don't understand what the lawyer was trying to get at. What does Erin dying a day before she was put in the mine have to do with this sex defense?
BBM
I agree. What a relief that the lawyers decided to put a fork in this thing. I regained a bit of respect for them, for not dragging that poor child up on the stand.
I believe all of the above links point to her being killed on the same day that she was placed in the mine (as admitted to by CL himself). Which also coincides with the texts that were sent to her best friend that very same morning.
The defense simply questioned if the time of death could be proven to be on that particular day, but I believe due to exposure and environment of where her body was placed (rapid decomposition) it was difficult to tell. The defense was grasping at anything he could, it's his job. A smear campaign of the victim (if untrue, and I believe it is), is a whole other story.
