there should be a resolution soon. very sad. so many lives destroyed.

Most recent post on the Locate Erin FB page (about 5 minutes ago) basically requests that anyone who may have seen Erin on the day she went missing to contact police. They can call anonymously. Also, to keep praying and refrain from speculating.

bait and switch tactic

A poster here previously shared about a Marine they knew who had gotten discharged for having an affair with another Marine's wife. Evidently, USMC deals with this harshly. Yowza, talk about motive!

We still dont know who the last person to see Erin (besides JC) was, correct?

Above BBM: Only the day she went missing? Is it just me or does that seem a little off?

Yes. It is considered a crime in the USMC.

WOW. Odd how this rumor keeps coming up. I know we were asked to drop it and some posts edited or deleted. There has been mention of this on the locate Erin page and in newspaper comments. Think we can discuss it now???

I'm going to PM a mod just to double check.

ETA: I messaged Salem the link. We shall see!

My understanding when we were asked/told by Salem to drop it was because it was just a FB rumor at the time. Now that there is a link from a news source, based on her comments before, I assume it's fair game for discussion.

To me it indicates they believe she is no longer alive and they are trying to put together a case and gather enough info to arrest the person they believe to be responsible for her disappearance. Example: If someone comes forward and says "yes, I saw her with a guy that day", LE could show that witness a line up including a pic of the person they believe is responsible. If that witness can identify him as the person she was with, then that could be enough evidence to arrest him. Just IMO of course.

I had a friend in the Air Force who had an affair with her commanding officer. They were both single and ended up getting married after a long legal process that ended with them both being dishonorably discharged.

Hi all
Last time I was here Scott Peterson was in hot water!

On Facial Expressions:
Real, spontaneous smiles are asymmetrical, because in most people the right hemisphere of the brain (which controls the left side of the face) is more involved in emotional expression than the left, so a true smile is higher on the left side of the face, and the orbital muscle around the left eye contracts more too. Fake smiles tend to be symmetrical, not involve the eyes, and come on and leave the face quickly. Of course, I think the vast majority of us would agree that we should have very little confidence that we can judge a person's character by looking at photographs of them.

When I read that Jon's mother said he is, "stoic," that, to me, was more significant. Stoic as in unable to think, talk, etc. because he is so overwhelmed by the apparent loss of his wife and child (wouldn't devastated be a better choice), or stoic as in unconcerned/callous-unemotional? Psychopaths are notoriously cool in high-stress situations because they are incapable of a normal (i.e. human) fear response. That said, we don't really know how he reacted to her going missing, initially, or throughout the week, but his own mother saying that he was stoic suggests that he has appeared relatively (perhaps strangely) calm, and I expect very few men is his situation would react that way. Once again, though, it's easy to read too much into things like this.

If we go with what the research says, odds are he killed her for insurance money and/or to escape from her/the child (another woman?); or she was raped, killed, and dumped in a crime of opportunity; or perhaps involved in some sort of love triangle. It's a frustrating case, because, as many have said, LE seems to know quite a bit, and they aren't sharing.

It's how I understand it as well but wanted to be crystal clear (especially since the article doesn't cite sources). I would hate to see this thread locked. I'd have to do something productive with my day ;)

Erin's mother is also unusually calm.

Okay guys - it looks like we have MSM for some of the facebook rumors. Here it is again: http://www.z1077fm.com/breaking-news-in-case-of-missing-twentynine-palms-woman/

Yes, it can now be discussed. Please remember that Erin is a victim and be respectful. This is probably very hurtful to her family so use discretion, keep your comments to what has been revealed here and no sleuthing anyone not named as a POI/suspect.

I don't know - but when you click on their Local News link at the top of the page - they also have a recording of the same story. I would assume that if this were more than rumors it will be picked up by other news outlets shortly.

Edited to add from wikipedia: Z107.7 is best known for its award-winning local news, which airs seven times a day, seven days a week. Reporters include Managing Editor Tami Roleff, Dan Stork, Mike Lipsitz, and Kristy Lockhart.

No idea if this story is from any of those reporters.

BBM - if there's no basis for their last report on this case, I think they'll be losing a few awards.

This story would totally explain why the marines are requiring the husband to be so tight-lipped, as well as why her parents are being so supportive of the husband.

And why they seem to be so singlemindedly searching in JTNP

Some of my thoughts are similar. I think it's someone from Base, thus the location of the car. It makes not sense to me that someone random would bring it back so close to Base. However, maybe the JT thing is a ruse? Maybe someone knew she was going there and somehow met up with her (planned or unplanned) and maybe she's not in JT at all but elsewhere in the vast desert, perhaps east, which could possible explain the location the car was found.

Totally agree with your theory. Whomever needed to get back to base. If she has been murdered and buried out there somewhere, how will her body ever be found? But remarkably the McStay and Jamison families were found!
