Someone other than Erin and the supposed BF Marine must have known about the affair. Otherwise, how would they have known to question him?

I thought about that too. Possible that one or more persons knew, and came forward after they found out Erin was missing?

Gotta disagree here...The thought of losing his career, wife, kids (if he has any) over an affair could be motive and fuel enough to do something terrible. IMO

Or, it was a team event. He confesses to the wife, they look at the repercussions, they take care of the issue?

If the latest article is true, LE has been interviewing alleged BF and his stories are full of contradictions. Maybe BF admitted to meeting Erin and going to the park but says she was alive when he last saw Erin and she dropped him off at their "meeting place". LE probably knows by now if alleged BF left home early that morning in his own vehicle or on foot. If he left home on foot to meet Erin, then it wouldn't seem likely she would drop him off several miles from base to walk home (from where her car was found). More likely she would at least drop him off closer to base gate and went on her way through the gate. Have to believe LE have interviewed BF's wife to check out his "story".

Then there is also motive and fuel enough to do something terrible by the husband. (not saying he did)

What are the odds?

I read more cases here where its the husband. (Sad to say)

Without trying to get too personal here, I think she could know because of timing. For example if she's suddenly pregnant but hasn't been 'intimate' with her husband in a few months, but has with someone else, she'd know.

Twenty-something's going without intimacy for a month, LOL?

Well what if they were followed?

If FB shows the lower rank, maybe he didn't update it yet? Many people don't update things like employer on FB I've noticed.

As for the ball, I remember my son purchasing some new pins/patches before a ball once because his were looking old. Obviously he purchased the SAME stuff! lol But I remember him stressing how important it was for everything to be perfect, so I'm thinking the rank shown in the ball pic was his correct rank at the time.

No, he was claiming the higher rank on FB.
One's uniform should ALWAYS reflect your current status. And, yes, everything must look perfect. Sometimes there's a mad rush to the lady who sews patches on and alters uniforms or to the military supply store. In the Army, getting a beret to look right becomes a real job.

You're right. If that's the case, somebody should have shot it down and I'm only half kidding.
Really, if a news helicopter got close enough to destroy evidence, they should be in deep ***** imo.

Cellphone records ? He could of been the last person Erin called/texted that morning ?

I remember reading that Erin had disclosed this info to someone at a party at one point. This was all considered rumor because it was just a comment by someone under an article.

Was there a party the night before she went missing?
I swear I read that..

Before I catch up, on the subject of whether or not Jon is a lance corporal or corporal, I doubt he'd lie about his rank on FB.
As a poster pointed out, in the picture of Erin and Jon going to the Marine Corps Ball (most likely), he's wearing the rank of lance corporal.
If he was promoted November 7, and the ball took place after that, I'm surprised he didn't change the patch on his dress blues.
I can't explain why he wouldn't have and I was unsuccessfull when trying to (quickly) find the date of last year's ball. They're always held in November afaik. But I can't imagine he'd lie on FB about his rank because another Marine would call him out on that for sure.
I believe it was on Nov 10 2013. http://www.dvidshub.net/news/116767/marines-celebrate-corps-birthday#.U8BayvldVfA

I would think that being in the military, they would get used to not being in constant contact. And, since a good part of their marriage, they were living away from each other, a lot like single people, they may have gotten used to coming and going. If she had been saying she was at a ranch a lot, he may have told himself she was there, rather than entertain other thoughts. maybe. Just guessing. Once it was obvious that she should really be home, he may have finally decided to call. I really feel bad for both of them and their families, whatever happened.

As we keep going ahead with new information, I've noticed that some of the older information is not syncing up properly. For instance, earlier it was reported that Hubby didn't report her missing until the next day because she was supposed to be staying overnight at a friends. Then another report stated he didn't report her missing because he thought he had to wait 24 hours. Now there's a recording (taken around 8:30 in the morning the day after she left, less than 24hrs later btw) of a San Bernardino County Sheriff's Deputy saying that Jonathan Corwin reported to him that she had left at 7:00am (0700) the day before and he had expected her back nine hours later at 4:00pm (1600). http://www.cbs8.com/story/25971456/timeline-emerges-in-marine-wifes-mysterious-disappearance

Well, if she was depressed from the miscarriage, or getting it elsewhere...

Heavilin told WBIR-TV in Tennessee last week the family hopes Corwin simply lost her way in the park. "She's just really timid and she has a terrible sense of direction,” Heavilin said. “We were all scared for her to travel home on her own because she had to go through airports by herself and it can be kind of overwhelming if you don't have a good sense of direction.

Why were they ALL afraid for her to travel alone and yet he allow her to wander the desert by herself?
she has no sense of direction?
Seems to me they needed to let this woman grow up! JMO

Did she get lost often?
Has he had to go out and find her before?

Cars have a GPS so do phones!
All u need to do is program home. And home u go.

As someone with a terrible sense of direction who also likes to explore, I can see my family 'letting' me do something like this while warning me over and over that I'll get lost, then teasing me for years about it at Thanksgiving. They'd be searching for me pretty quickly, but once I came home we'd all have a good laugh about "that time." I bet this is what Erin's family was expecting to happen too.

Just a side note, my car doesn't have GPS, and my phone GPS only works if it has a signal. I have a TomTom but it doesn't work that well in remote areas. I don't find it hard to believe that she'd have a car and phone without GPS, and maybe no cell signal if she was in the desert.

I wonder if Erin's husband had told his family about things with Erin, and the aunt is the one willing to tell all. Otherwise, what is her motive, and why is she the only one saying anything??

I swear I read that..

Yes, but I don't think that was necessarily when she told someone about it. There was discussion about the party on the "Praying for Erin Corwin" FB page, I believe, but I read the info about the affair on the comment section under a news article. If the night before she went missing WAS when she told someone about the affair, well....that's even more ominous. Sort of like shutting her up quickly before news spread????? I don't know. It's just a shame all the way around.

^^^ I read the comment under the article too.

Very sad, all the way around. I just want the people who love her to know what happened to her- God speed to the investigation.
