I wonder why they are only coming forward now and not before. They had to know that Erin is missing so why not come forward right away?

The article says the two witnesses were at the abandoned car with police on June 30th, that was only 2 days after she went missing.

The street addresses in the warrants appear to refer to Jasmine Drive apartment complexes on the Marine base.

In a very early article, they did say EC went missing from her apartment on the 6600 block of Jasmine Drive, so I assume one of these on the search warrant is probably hers.

I was also thinking maybe gate person? Either on the base, or at the park?

The witnesses live right near the location where the car was found.

I think LE probably zeroed in on owner of red car pretty quickly by talking to people and that this will turn out to be the "other man". And if he is not "missing" too then he is likely the last person to have seen Erin alive and well.

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/07/1...ry-base-as-marines-hold-somber-gathering-for/

this is an older article but some more info

Capt. Justin Smith, a spokesman for the Marine Corps base in Twentynine Palms, said security footage was given to detectives with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department for review, after Corwin was last seen leaving the base and later reported missing. It's not known what clues, if any, the videos might have provided.

Smith noted that the base's officials have been assisting San Bernardino authorities from the day Corwin was reported missing, though he declined to elaborate in detail. He said the young woman's photograph, description and vehicle information was distributed by base officials immediately following the news of her disappearance.

no need

or perhaps LE cleared them to talk to the media?

Working with investigative producer @DavidCBS8, who uncovered new info in the case of Erin Corwin, a missing pregnant woman. Details @ 6:30.

Maybe media just got a hold of a police report. Anyway, the witnesses told police June 30, which means LE has had this info almost from the start.

Yeah, but there was no search warrant for a red car. Just a Jeep Cherokee, IIRC.

I don't think you can get a search warrant on a car if you don't know the license plate, owner, location, etc. It sounds like LE didn't have that information.

maybe the description was misconstrued--it was a jeep all along!!!

Yeah, but if it was a neighbor/lover, it seems that that information would have been known to LE rather quickly. In other words, the red car - if it exists - is more indicative of a random/entirely unknown perp than either a marine or coworker/volunteer.

That is what I have said all along. Find the last unknown person to see Erin alive and they will know then who took her. Imo, she most likely has been murdered by the man in the red car.

IMO

I wonder if the witness had a good pair of binoculars. Because if I lived on that road, I would! We take binoculars to the beach and have a high rise condo and it's amazing what you can see. People on the jetty catching fish, the expressions of cops stopping people on the beach, etc. I remember with Laura Bradbury there was a thought at first that a couple with binoculars were spying on her - but I bet if you go to Joshua Tree you bring binoculars. Same thing with living on that road. If anything whatsoever happens there, you want to see it.

One of the people named at one of those addresses shares a very unique first name with a town in Alaska...

Wonder if this neighbor threw the alleged party?

I don't think so. Red is a very distinct color and easily remembered.

In the SW the jeep is listed as dark which I gather it to be either maybe black, navy or dark green.

Both witnesses said it was a small car. I think they would both know a jeep since so many Marines drive jeeps.

I wonder if he rented the red car that weekend so he wouldn't be recognized driving his own vehicle.

IMO
