There is no information being released regarding possible witnesses, witness statements or investigative techniques used during this search. At this time, the search for Erin Corwin has not been classified as a criminal investigation. Additionally, there are no suspects or 'persons of interest' identified.

BBM- subtle way of telling us they are not going to address what Michael Beasley or his sister told CBS8. Maybe JeannaT is right, that very detailed witness account was buried in a pile of papers and investigators had no idea. Time will tell.

That is a strange statement.

According to the bonus interview with MB on CBS8.com on July 14th - he said that he spoke with the Sheriff's or LE the morning the car was found.

...next thing I hear, the weekend goes by and Monday morning the sheriffs are there looking for this girl cause she ain't home yet and you know, I ah, ah, I just report with the sheriff's office and show what I see, I hate to think that, again, I hate to think that I, that something happened there between some Marines out there that didn't take care of this girl.

When they asked me about the vehicle that morning, I says, you know, this is what I seen, I ah, Saturday morning but now that I'm looking at the scene now, that car wasn't there Saturday morning like that. It was further in so somebody had to have moved that car further in and maybe about 100 feet or so, 150 feet further in and it wasn't there.

Ha... I'm sorry, I know this whole situation isn't funny but you gotta laugh or cry sometimes right? I hadn't the term "hooey" in forever. My grandma used it too. Grandpa would always pipe in with "that's horse-pucky!"

Im confused...why would a family want to censor discussion that could lead to the person responsible for their loved one's disappearance?

Just venturing a guess here, but nasty people sometimes show up saying nasty things and maybe they had too much of that going on. If <whatever you believe in> forbid I'm ever in the position of running a page like that, I can see having a very hard time with that decision.

But it sounded like they made it a closed group because of the speculation about the affair, which might well be a truth they may have to face...

There are people who have gone into police stations and confessed to crimes they did not commit.
The first time I heard that fact I thought, "no way, who would do that?"

LE, if they do take MB seriously, may have asked him to shut up. Or, LE knows some people enjoy grandstanding.
LE has their reasons for releasing or not releasing information when or if they do. I've learned that here on WS.

The confusion I'm having is that in the beginning, LE was not shy about stating that homicide was on board.
Now, they've backtracked to missing person/no criminal activity. That's what has me perplexed.
Like, (never in my wildest dreams would I think this), did Erin run off with someone and through her personal files, LE's uncovered an angle. Maybe some horse guy (versus military guy) or something. I can't figure out why law enforcement has backed away from criminal activity in general. But then, you don't involve NCIS when there isn't a suspected crime.
They just want peeps to butt out and let them do their jobs I guess.

LE does not HAVE to tell the family anything. There is not someone sitting around waiting to make phone calls to the family when something new arises. They are busy doing their job. So if a lead comes in in the morning, family may not get an update until the evening or even next day when the LE contact person gets a chance to sit or call the family with sensitive and emotional information.
I know this from experience.

That article makes it seem to me that LE is running into some barriers working with the Marines (i.e. they are having to tip-toe through this investigation and having to be careful with every word they say). I noticed NCIS got involved to 'consult' but I have a feeling that it wasn't a request by the Sheriff, if you naw'm'sayin.

There must be a reason though. If a military member is suspected, maybe the Marines can help get to the bottom of it and took authority (NCIS) of part the investigation. It doesn't have to mean there isn't cooperation. It may indicate the opposite, that the two are working together.

Kelli Bordeaux went missing from Fort Bragg but not while physically on post. From the very start, the local Sheriff was in charge even though Kelli was a soldier. Her husband is a civilian and so is the suspect who has been charged with her murder now. It made me feel a little bit like her people turned their backs on her but that wasn't the case - her case fell under the civilian authority due to jurisdiction/territory.

Consider this too, even if Erin did have an affair, that doesn't 100 percent conclude that either her husband or affair guy are guilty. It is a possibility that she is still the victim of some random guy. Trust me, there have been cases that eventually solve that are anything but obvious as to who done it even though obvious situations exist within the case. If the obvious one had been arrested in the beginning, they would have arrested the wrong person. That happens too.

Well it took me long enough but I finally have the videos posted! Get a map ready of the areas around where her car was found, because all videos are titled with streets/directions, and there's more info in the descriptions so read that too. Hoping to start on the pics tonight but heading to the beach tomorrow so doubt I will finish until tomorrow night, because I want to label them and whittle down the unreasonable number of photos I took. You're right. It's a numbers game. imagine the whole population then remove all of the people who are having affairs, or who've had a fight with a coworker in the last week, or stereo/etc. wars with the neighbors, bitter fueds with in-laws, those who are going through a nasty divorce, or who owe someone other than a bank a large sum of money, who are dealing with negotiations (unions, shipping, bidding), who've voluntarily disappeared for stretches of time, or are living at risk lifestyles, any who've attempted suicide, and all the domestic abuse cases. After all of that, there are very few people left who's disappearance would definitely indicate a random act. But there are a lot more random acts than that in this world.

I have followed more than 100 missing persons cases on this site. Maybe even more than 200. I'm not as knowledgeable as some of the people who are WS members. But I do know these things:

1. Witness accounts and news stories are often incorrect about key facts.
2. There are always people who just KNOW who the perp is even though they do not have access to any of the actual evidence.
3. Police often do not release many facts about open investigations. But you should not assume that they are holding back a lot of stuff. Sometimes, they truly don't know much.
4. Police rarely tell the family everything.
5. Some police departments botch investigations badly. Many do not.

Many times, I have been convinced of someone's guilt based on stuff I heard, read or researched. Many times, I have been wrong.

You and I and WS'ers understand what you are saying. But a family thrown into a nightmare like this doesn't realize that keeping up appearances hides the truth, and the truth is what will lead to the victim being found and justice being served. They really just do not know any better. JMO.

Where did all these stats come from earlier that people who have affairs are more likely to be injured/disappeared/hurt/etc.? I kept seeing "look it up" and assumed those posts would probably likely be deleted so I waited, but now I'm just confused. Is there someplace I should be looking?

If there was an affair, I find it unlikely that Erin happened to taken on a Saturday afternoon or morning by some random. If she had been attacked in the park, I think her car would have been found there. A random park stalker isn't likely to have taken her car and driven it away to where it was found, Imo.

Just seems too coincidental, if the rumored affair/pregnancy issue is true, jmo.
